Sorry to hear this. She was a wonderfully gifted artist. I enjoyed her music very much.

She was one of a kind. An amazing woman. The world will not soon see another like her.

I saw her in concert a couple of years ago. She still had it.

I will miss Aretha being in the world. Her music has been a part of my entire adult life.

My baby danced in her playpen to Aretha on the big stereo singing —

“R-E-S-P-E-C-T” and “Chain of Fools”

It was my baby who took me to that concert to see Aretha, for my birthday — not that long ago.

I'm sure Candice Bergen is in mourning. "Murphy Brown" and Aretha Franklin - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman - YouTube

I too, am terribly sad that she suffered so much in her last years and will miss her amazing talent.

For those who subscribe to Sirius XM, channel 49 has dedicated today to playing Aretha Franklin’s music.

(I bet every woman reading this has done the same thing -- can't help singing along.)

Bwahaha! I forgot about that one. What a great show, Murphy Brown, and still funny today.

Absolutely!

Those of us women who are "of an age" can certainly relate.

When I came home as a teenager from my job at Shoprite, N.J’S answer to Publix minus the cleanliness and friendliness my Mom would have Aretha cranked up which meant it was house cleaning day. The only problem was it was on 8 Track and looped over and over and over but just another happy memory shook loose courtesy of TOTV’S.

Same loop for 8 to 10 hours was a bit much. Sorry Mom!

Just a technical question. What is a natural women? Is it one of the remanufactuered ones that are around now a days.

Remember the line into the Cemetery when Whitney Houston passed in Westfield N.J. I would imagine Aretha’s service would dwarf the other one. R.I.P. Natural Women, what a skill she possessed and shared.

Aretha was truly one of a kind...a trailblazer for so many female singers who followed. So many of her songs just spoke to me.

Her funeral will be Aug. 31 at Greater Grace Chapel in Detroit. Aug. 28-29 will be public viewings at Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

RIP Aretha

Yep. :(

The Queen is dead...long live the Queen.

One of my all-time favorite songs.

Chi-Town 08-19-2018 01:13 PM

Here is her concert in Amsterdam 1968. Concert goers rushed up to the stage to shower her with flowers . After the first song the promoter asked the crowd to stay in their seats. Remarkably they pretty much did (hardly Altamont). Quite a show.
