John McCain - Wikipedia Condolences to his family. |
I had a lot of admiration for John McCain. America lost a good one today. I wish Senator McCain fair winds and following seas.

When asked what he wanted on his tombstone, without skipping a beat his response......
HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY |
John McCain served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1981, including spending 5 1/2 years as a POW in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous military honors.
The American flag is now being flown at half staff at the White House. John McCain was an American hero. |
RIP Senator

I think, he had a big heart.
|
I think it is sad that some have become so callous that they are unable to simply offer (or refrain from offering) condolences without stooping to political vitriol.
Condolences to the McCain family and friends. |

One of the few politicians I really admired. R.I.P. John McCain. He was a man of nobility, strength and courage.
To counter a false smear-- FACT CHECK: Was Sen. John McCain a 'Hanoi Hilton Songbird'? |

Whether one agreed with his positions or not, he could have taken the low road and would probably have had more support...yet he stood up for integrity, honesty and honor. Which is all too lacking these days. He was, by ANY measure...an American hero. :ho: |
RIP John McCain.
|
Whether you agree with his politics or not, he was an honorable man and I just wish he could have lived a while longer to see what happens next.
My thoughts are with his wife and family. RIP |
My condolences his family, his friends and to all Americans. He served our great nation with honor, courage and integrity. He will be sorely missed.

I agree. I don't know if it is callousness or lack of integrity. John McCain always put America first, and worked with politicians on both sides of the aisle, something we are sorely lacking today. RIP John McCain. |

I grew up in a time when politicians crossed the aisle for the good of the people, John McCain is close to being the last man to do so. He will be deeply missed by people of all political persuasions. |
Of course, John McCain is being lauded by politicians all around the world. I was impressed with this comment from the former President:
John McCain and I were members of different generations, came from completely different backgrounds, and competed at the highest level of politics. But we shared, for all our differences, a fidelity to something higher – the ideals for which generations of Americans and immigrants alike have fought, marched, and sacrificed. We saw our political battles, even, as a privilege, something noble, an opportunity to serve as stewards of those high ideals at home, and to advance them around the world. We saw this country as a place where anything is possible – and citizenship as our patriotic obligation to ensure it forever remains that way. Few of us have been tested the way John once was, or required to show the kind of courage that he did. But all of us can aspire to the courage to put the greater good above our own. At John’s best, he showed us what that means. And for that, we are all in his debt. Michelle and I send our most heartfelt condolences to Cindy and their family.... |
Prayers for Senator McCain - a true patriot. He will be missed.
|
I admired his strong will and good character, he was a politician par excellence. My condolence to his family.
|
I think the late Senator should be given the CMOH, for his actions in WWII.:bigbow: RIP, true American hero.

There is a time and place for everything. A eulogy thread is the time to say something good and to say goodbye. Not to start a debate or make a dig.

In my opinion, very few want to fight and hurt others or watch it happen. Hate is the reason for wars that imprisoned someone like John McCain. He was tortured and suffered for his country.
I think of him as a good man, a strong man, a man not afraid to voice his convictions and stand for his beliefs. A man who was loved by his family and people who knew him and made waves that caused people to watch and to listen and to learn. He was brave and dedicated to this country. He was not always understood, but he didn't stand down. He was respected by most people in this country. He will be missed and his name and life will be respected and he will go down in history as a patriot and a brave man. That is my opinion. I have read yours. Carry on. |

We have removed several posts in this thread that became orphans when the OP edited his initial comment. Others were removed because they were veiled political comments. And others were clearly directed at a member.
