Guy Fieri's closing...not surprised...never lived up to the hype.

I hope whoever takes it over puts some soundproofing in.

I am out of town, where did you read that? I wrote the original story of when it was opening for The News...forget the question, just read it was in The Sun.

Not a fan of the current Guy Fieri's but enjoyed prior Honest Johns.

However, my observation is that the building does not have street appeal. The place could be active but you could seldom tell. The entrance is on the side, The Patio is seldom used. You can walk by and not even know it was a restaurant.

They are opening today. From what I have heard they are not actually closing.

The Daily Sun confirmed its closing and said it is vetting new proposals for restaurants

Hopefully TGI Fridays will move back in.

I am of the opinion that a well run, clean, consistently good service, consistently high quality foods will always win the day.
And even if it is in not the best location or just what we refer to as a hole in the wall folks will seek it out.

Too many have tried here with mediocrity that deteriorated to poor everything...untrained help and management...removed ownership.

Every eatery that has failed since we have been here (14 years) fail because of inattention to the basics. If they are not failed they are in deterioration, run by folks who are not invested and more importantly do not care.

I have said many times there is no secret to success in the food business.

Why don’t they put the taco place in that location instead of the movie theater!

I liked the food, but the noise level drove me away.

How about a 'Hooters' themed restaurant called the 'Sag Wagon?'

Portillo's--a Morton's Steakhouse--its gotta be a corp run franchise--similar to the Bonefish, Carrabbas, -with real mgt expertise

A Hooters-themed restaurant, run by seniors, called, "The Cane Mutiny."

Hooters is like going to a Ferrari dealership, you could buy one, but are not really able to enjoy it

njbeachbum, WHAT is "government cheese"? Sounds like a New England localism. lol The menu looks yummy to me. I love that kind of fare. There are a few who like only steak and really expensive "well" drinks.

If I could vote, I would vote for it. I like chains the best. More money behind it and usually consistent fare.

I know Guy Fieri's is a chain and I am wondering why it closed so quickly; usually leases on the square are for five years. Florida restaurant business is highly seasonal and takes a lot of management expertise. It isn't an easy business.

Sorry to see them close. Although we didn't visit often, I enjoyed the food, and in fact was there a little over a week ago. Excellent service to boot.

OMG, I hope TGi Fridays never comes back.

How about an UNO's restaurant?

Deep dish pizza, burgers, salads and reasonably priced alcohol. It would be a good match for the building and the demographic.

Don’t forget the delicious soups and pasta! And those ROLLS!

Gracie Dear....many years ago the government gave out bricks of surplus cheese they stored...ergo “government cheese”...they were basically Velveeta.

The last thing TV needs is another bland chain restaurant. I have come to realize that many here from the hinterlands appreciate the consistency of chains. But I also realize that its the only kind of restaurant that can survive.

Thank God, we have found restaurants outside the bubble.

Not only New England...more like a welfare localism...it was likely the first free food donated to low income families...the Whalburgs were a family of 11 - 9 kids!...dunno if their tv show is still on the air - but if you ever see it in the listings watch it...mama Alma is a hoot!

Absolutely agree with you. Well said. The owners do not care about the restaurants, just the dollars. The staff don't care because they get no backing from the management and the quality of the cooks is abysmal.

The one real standout to me is Bonefish. The Management is always in house, the wait staff are properly trained and dressed appropriately. The tables have proper table linen and the tables are large and comfortable. Add to that the food which is very good. You have a winner.

We miss Honest Johns.

When I first looked at your post, I thought, Oh Boy Whataburger. That's the one thing I missed from when I was in Pensacola. They're out of Texas I believe, I don't know why they don't expand this way.

I don't think Uno's would be a good idea for that location because of their business history. In 2010 they filed chapter 11 and closed 16 stores at that time. All the ones in Baltimore where I lived at that time closed. I remember they had a health scare similar to what Chipolte's has been going through.

What caught my attention is in the old Uno location in Baltimore where I use to live, Miller's Ale House is moving in. It's a sports bar chain out of Orlando with 83 locations. With their Orlando proximity and the size of the building, that sounds like a good idea for that location.

We really don’t have a say on what goes in. A true coney would make my day, but space is too big.

I totally agree. Once was enough for me. I could get past the food but not being able to carry on a conversation at the table and having to wear earplugs the entire dinner was enough for me never to go back. I also felt this way about Riccardo's. They actually put in soundproofing and it made such a difference.

Expensive low quality food will never succeed. Ditto on the sound.

UNO's would be a good choice said this wannabee.

Miller's Ale House could work. I've been to their location in Schaumburg, IL near my home.
