new bridges, 2 over sr 44, 2 over tpke.,

seen it growth of the villages web site, yet one person not even talking about it. is it a done deal, over st44 and over fla. tpke. , twice ??????…. seems like villages hype and not true..... anybody out there know better ? thanks

kcrazorbackfan 09-23-2018 08:09 PM

So, what is there to talk about? It is a done deal.

Another bridge (the newly announced one will handle both vehicles and carts; the first one, carts only) gives people that travel in their carts another option to cross the turnpike.

I don't care if we double in size as long as the amenities keeps pace and the infrastructure is kept up.

Goldwingnut 09-23-2018 08:52 PM

They're overhauling the old Baily Rd bridge just south of the service plaza, not a big deal because of the existence of that bridge. It will be quite the sight when both bridges are done.

As far as amenities go from what I've seen in the plans that have been made available and what I'm seeing when flying over the construction areas, there are a lot going in. Rec Center locations are hard to pick out from the air but, I'm pretty sure that I've seen the makings for 4 or 5 more executive courses north of 468 plus the one the pitch-and-put and executive course next to it that have already been announced.

As fast as things are moving in CDD12 & 13 more information should be surfacing soon to get the necessary permitting in order.

debbydebby 09-23-2018 09:09 PM

really...?

I agree with you Kcrazorbackfan!! The developer always has a "big picture business plan" in place and it's well done when it's implemented. People tend to be impatient and want everything done "now" or sooner. When they're not in the know---they think someone is out to get them. I'm totally satisfied with how everything is kept up here! Most other retirement communities don't even compare!:)

billethkid 09-23-2018 10:06 PM

going on 15 years we have lived TV lifestyle while it tripled in size. The developer has been very consistent in what is provided for residents.

It is safe to say the increased size of TV has only brought more of what we residents would like to have in amenities, shopping, restaurants, TV life style, etc.

We're not talking about it NOW because we have been following the various announcements that have been publicized for over a year. If you search TOTV, you will find many threads about specific announcements.

You just discovered the "big picture" and can't believe it. It IS a "done deal."

"Villages hype"? No, not hype. I think it's an informative communications plan which reduces the rumors that seem to be never-ending.

For example, attached is a map which was published in March 2018. It shows 2 golf cart bridges over Rt. 44 and 1 over the turnpike. Just recently, another bridge over the turnpike was announced which will be located below the spot on this map identified as "Future Village of Bradford."

Some of us on TOTV monitor the agendas and minutes of meetings held by Sumter County and City of Wildwood. These plans - and may more - have all been through a formal approval process.

So, sit back, stay informed, and enjoy the ride. I think the benefits of these plans will be amazing!

charmed59 09-24-2018 10:20 AM

Headed down the Turnpike last week and we could see the land moving and trucks for what we think is construction of the cart only bridge north of Fenney. We were surprised to see one of the Villages stagecoaches parked on the cattle bridge just south of the rest area. So yep, two turnpike crossings. Saw evidence with my own eyes.

debbydebby 09-24-2018 10:23 AM

hopefull

well still see no hard facts about bridges, but maybe just a new Yorker, like me who is use too b/s everyday for 60 yrs. hope you guys are right about trusting the builder. soon to be a villager south of 44, and really praying, for a few bridges north. been here 7 times, northerners are nice people, hope to have fun again, via golf cart DESOTO.... here we come

Seriously? I assume man never really walked on the moon either right?

Nobody is talking about it because it's old news. The only new news is the 2nd bridge over the turnpike which actually already exists. It was previously a cattle crossing bridge but now the developer owns the land on both sides of it. I first saw that on Goldwingnut's videos, but I assume that's not hard evidence in your mind either?

The entire thing is already planned out and is even shown on published maps showing the planned route with tunnels and bridges. And they are already working on it from both ends. Down here in the Fenney area the tunnel under 468 is well under way and the bridge over the pond that will lead into Brownwood is in place.

debbydebby 09-24-2018 11:40 AM

hi idiot

I hear ya.. and seen Brownwood bridge over pond at start.... NEW YORKER HERE... in new York you trust nobody.. and guess it continues.... sorry, born that way....

In previous posts you say you are building in the new area. Is that true?

Can you imagine the class action lawsuit with all of the buyers that purchased property under the promise of all of these bridges and tunnels to connect it all together and then it never happens? I can assure you the developer has imagined it and will make darn sure they do what is promised. They aren't going to the moon here - there are plenty of other bridges and tunnels that gov'ts had to sign off on before around here. It's a stretch to think they would promise and plan a bridge over the turnpike that they never had any intention of building and then just double down and promise a second one for the hell of it.

debbydebby 09-24-2018 12:11 PM

dear idiot

never thought about class action lawsuit, wow, YOU'RE RIGHT. cool, if bridges do not get built, CAN YOU BE MY LAWER, LOL...… that idea never entered my mind... feeling better now, who's the IDIOT now... tks

Well I’m from New York to been here since 09 and I’ll say this anything that’s been said has happened so I’m glad I left NY and actually see things happen.

72lions 09-24-2018 06:07 PM

Where the hell do you think the cart path is going after it leaves the pond bridge in Brownwood?

debbydebby 09-24-2018 07:20 PM

Thanks for the excellent update, but where are the Championship courses. Seems to be a major omission in the planning of the growth?

At this stage of their construction it’s impossible to tell them apart, there is plenty of space for either or both north of 468 on both sides of the turnpike. From what I saw today north of deluna it looks like at least 18 holes. Of course we know nothing for sure until the developer announcements happen and they only release what is needed to keep things going.

It would be crazy to think that one of the most successful developers in the country would change the formula that has worked so well so long. These guys don’t miss a thing, there’ll be more.

debbydebby 09-24-2018 08:52 PM

well who knows better????

hoping goldwingnut knows his stuff, cause nobody still hasn't shown one fact that the city of wildwood, sumpter county, or state of florida has ok'ed ONE bridge. sorry, seeing is beliving, good nite all.. bye the way, thanks goldwingnut for the best video's, wife and I love them, thanks again

One 18 hole championship course close to the proximity of the turnpike service plaza from what I've heard.

A championship course is planned for the area east of the turnpike, in the future Village of Bradford. As stated, this is east of the Okahumpka Service Plaza. See attachment.

VillageIdiots 09-25-2018 08:14 AM

There's obviously no satisfying the OP on this topic. Yet I don't see a single reply agreeing with it. Apparently The Villages is all of a sudden okay with building infrastructure that will, ultimately, lead to nowhere because the city, county, or state is going to nix any plans to finish it. As with most anything in life - follow the money! Or, in this case, follow the potential tax revenue.

ditka41 09-25-2018 09:53 AM

Please relax and enjoy the ride, "New Yorker". People here have overcome larger obstacles than where they are from. The Villages is for real and one thing they do, and will continue to do, is "under-promise, and over-deliver". I hope you will enjoy the adventure as much as most of the rest of us do. There is no overwhelming interest here in what you did in your prior life or where you are from. Think of The Villages as a "do-over" where you can start fresh and will be happy.

That is a wonderful post and I believe the vast majority of us totally agree with you. We used to be responsible adults with many competing priorities in our lives and now we feel like young teen-agers just trying to enjoy every day. A "do-over" is a great description.

WhoDat 09-26-2018 02:11 PM

I haven't seen any evidence of recreation "centers" being built in the new areas south of SR 44, only recreation "areas" most of which don't include meeting rooms, card rooms, kitchens, and billiard rooms. It worries me because residents in these areas will want to form neighborhood groups and will not have any place to meet. I hope I'm wrong and the developer has plans for recreation centers like we have north of 44.

Right now, all we have is the Fenney rec center. That concerns me a bit as the other villages in the Fenney side of 468 get built out and any snowbirds start flocking in. There is a regional rec center coming just across 468 and I believe another rec center over that way somewhere as well. It does seem like we'll be at least 1 shy of what is minimally reasonable once this are gets built out as planned.

Agree. We love living in Fenney but we're also concerned about what the situation will be with rec centers. Some of the classes at Fenney Rec are near capacity and some have had people turned away, and we're not even in the winter season. Even now we have to go early to get a spot in some classes, so what's going to happen once all these homes they're building down here get sold? I'm sure many will say we're worrying about nothing and I hope so, but it's not fun having to go early and then stand around hoping you get a spot in the classes.

thelegges 09-27-2018 05:37 AM

Are there any plans for a regional center near Fenney. I have admit I have been turned away from classes at colony

debbydebby 09-27-2018 05:58 AM

like i sais all along

just asked if anybody seen hard facts, these bridges have been approved by local, county or state goverments. so after 2000 views and 38 replys and nobody saying anything, answer NO thank you all builder hype, nothing set in stone.
and lets, make it clear, ii'm closing in desoto in mid November, so yes it does affect us... and with that I will not bother you guys anymore, because you know just as much as I do...… NOTHING
