Sure.

I was a Dick Butkus fan.

graciegirl 10-03-2018 07:32 AM

I have always wanted to name one Willie Bite.

We had one named Shaggy Dog.

I judge people based on what their pets names are and what they call their spouse. I do. Not ashamed at all.

I have run into dogs named after various baseball, basketball and football players. As well as characters in movies like Nick and Nora.

No pooches named Tiger though.

Willie Bite. That is a funny one. Have never heard of a dog named that. I have run into Willies. And a lot of Billies.

Could be after Tony the Tiger.

Taltarzac725 10-03-2018 07:41 AM

I have run into two dogs named Jesse James. One of these belonged to a woman I have known for a very long time. She also has Cole and Younger. She has a thing for the Old West and its outlaws.

Taltarzac725 10-03-2018 07:50 AM

I am probably forgetting about three hundred or more dog names I have heard here in the streets of the Villages around the Postal Center and in the dog parks in or near the Villages.

I have met many dog owners while here in the Villages.

Beau Derelict is still my favorite name so far. I have seen the movie 10 quite a few times.

Taltarzac725 10-03-2018 10:33 AM

I forgot Rocky, Millie, Rose, Eva, Leo, Sarah, Corey, Smidgeon, Sassy, Kaia, Ripkin, and Semper Fi. Semper Fi was a very tricky basset hound who would steal its owner's breakfast by barking at something in one room while she was eating. This made her go into another room and the smart dog would go around her and get the breakfast off the counter or table.

Lots of funny stories about Semper Fi.

Bruiser1 10-03-2018 12:05 PM

Butkus was Rocky Balboa's /Sylvester Stallones Bull Mastiff

Me, too. Sarah, Stella, Kimberly, Savannah, Rachel, Debbie, Debra, Jon, Bob, Chuck, David, etc. could be people or dogs.

There is a Rachel who is a Welsh Terrier and a Rachel who is a very attractive woman.

Know a Finn, Banjo, Titan, Fergus, Shiloh too but these could be dogs and/or males or female humans. Burt could be a woman I suppose but is also a dog.

Please judge me.

Not sure if I have ever come across a pooch named Steve.

Funny: I always wanted to name a dog “Fido”. I have never actually met a dog named “Fido”. I had dogs named: Mitzi, Otto and Lancer.

Lots of funny stories about Semper Fi.

Bella, Newt, Simba, Kip, Milo, Patches, Stitches, Snoopy, Gabe, Laverne, Indy, Samson, Delilah, Goliath, and Hey, Jude are some more dog names from the Villages area and the vicinity.

Taltarzac725 10-04-2018 02:51 PM

Hannah, Delaney, Dolly, Duffy, Obi Wan, the Mighty Millie, Lambaugh, and Hadley are some of the other names of pooches I have encountered here in the Villages area since June 2005.

I once had POODLE OF LOVE
but called her Love.

That is a nice name. I recall Gerry, Frankie, Hudson, many Murphys, Finnegan, Brutus, and a few bogies. Bogey either for Humphrey Bogart or the golf score. Maybe some below Par as well came up at some point. Toby, Tony, and Moby too. And a few Elsies.

bilcon 10-05-2018 07:18 AM

If it was a Bull dog, I would.

Taltarzac725 10-05-2018 07:40 AM

Just remembered Barracuda. She called him "Cuda".

Cannot remember if it was a dog or its owner that had the name Thelma but do recall a dog named Boo Radley.

Butkus? I say go for it! That way if it get's out you can scandalize the neighborhood by running around yelling Butt-kiss, here Butt-kiss.

lol!

We once had three cats named Tosca, Mario and Scarpia.

I suggested naming the next one Little Shepherd Boy, but Honey thought that was just too much.

I know two cats named Francesca and Farrah. I only saw them when I yelled out "Dinner Time" or when they were hissing at two dogs that were chasing them all over the house.

And I watched a diabetic cat for long periods of time which needed shots of insulin. Her owner named her Mephistopheles but usually just called this 22 pound Maine Coon cat Butt-Head.

Lilith.

Lilith - Wikipedia

Had a late friend who was a retired supervisor of some sort with the General Services Administration of the US government in DC. He named his pooch Lilith and made sure the rest of us knew what he meant by this name. He would give us a lot of the background for the name. The man did have a strange sense of humor but was fun to talk to. You never know what kinds of people you will run into at the dog parks in and around the Villages.

He did talk a lot about the Lilith from the Ted Danson show Cheers as well. Lilith Sternin - Wikipedia

I went to high school with a Stan Butkus.

I once had a dog named "Stay". Good dog, but hard to train. I would say "come here, Stay", but he would never come.

He must have been quite confused. LOL

Just recalled Schatzi, Smokey, Bonkers, and Yoda. Not to mention the Jazzy who had a mohawk. Jazzy was shaved except for a mohawk. He used it as a way to create conversations with the ladies.

I looked up this Yiddish gem. A shmegegge is a person who is both untalented and petty.

I know a few of those.

Another dog named I remembered recently is Muffin. Another is Jet. Some more are Biggins and Lollipop. :bigbow:
