Someone needs to teach Bonifay what schnitzel is...

Went to Bonifay today for lunch.

Ordered the schnitzel....got pork chops, with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Schnitzel is pounded thin, breaded and fried. Just saying.

Not the Octoberfest I expected.

If you're looking for anything that even remotely resembles schnitzel, keep looking.

Thanks for the information. I was going to order that tomorrow at Belle Glade country club. I will ask hours for prepared. If not I will have something else.

Did you share your concern with the manager? Seems you could teach them something.

jlongman 10-07-2018 08:23 PM

Maybe they could just search it up on the internet.

:ohdear: I volunteer you!

They don't prepare anything again, they get their food from Gordons, nuke it, boil in the bag or brown it--no authentic anything from that group

If you want the best Geman food --take a ride to Sanford and eat @ The Willow Tree--great food and a good time

go online and look @ Hollerbach's Willow Tree menu--now thats German food

thelegges 10-08-2018 02:41 AM

I just don’t order a German dish in a restaurant. It’s just easier to make it at home.

Aldi's has a frozen German Schnitzel. I like it, the other half does not! C'est la vie :icon_wink:

Ahh, but you can't beat The Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, MI now, can you?

Chatbrat 10-08-2018 03:18 PM

But for 50 miles you might take a chance on the Willow Tree in sanford --but its good but doesn't come close to the Black Forest Inn in Stanhope Nj, but its the closest real German food to the villages

Bogie Shooter 10-08-2018 06:03 PM

Stanhope NJ , 1062 miles.:clap2:

Wouldn't it be easier to just fly to Germany? I assume they have good German food there.

Bavarian Haus! in Mount Dora have lots of kinds of schnitzels.

Welcome to the Bavarian Haus!

I agree that to me schnitzel is a flatten out piece of pork, but when I googled it, most of the sites show it made with a pork chop. Who knew?????

missypie 10-09-2018 02:26 PM

If they wanted, I could teach them how to cook fresh and pretty fast German food.

Interesting. Will look for it tomorrow when I go.

simpkinp 10-09-2018 08:33 PM

We went to Belle Glade CC last night. The schnitzel wasn’t the traditional kind, but it was very tasty and probably healthier than Than the fried kind. It was lightly dusted with flour and sautéed No complaints.

Proper Scnitzel is made with veal, but is now popular with any meat. It originated in Austria, as my relatives who live there are only to pleased to remind me. Not Germany!!
They get quite touchy when I say the German ones are better!

You are a great German cook! I’m going to make it soon too. Forget the restaurant

Chatbrat 10-10-2018 09:58 AM

Though it means Vienna (not veal), Wiener Schnitzel, to me, implies veal. However, any thin slice of meat can be schnitzeled.

Schnitzel translates to “slice.”

Quite true. The BEST Schnitzel I ever had was in Vienna.
