Cart stolen last night
Our son’s golf cart was stolen in front of Walmart neighborhood at 9 last night. He had the keys and it was unique. The cart next to his was tampered with and their ignition was damaged. Cops hopefully got prints.

When they steal mine they will only be able to push it around in circles as I have my steering wheel locked hard left.

If this is the Neighborhood Walmart across 466A from Colony Shopping Ctr it is a small parking lot and Walmart has several security cameras that covers all their parking areas. I'm sure the deputies know that. He could asked them if they learned anything from reviewing the digital video file(s). That parking lot is pretty busy. It takes some some real B**LS to do anything other than getting in a cart and driving off. A couple of times I have approached someone who appeared to be having problems trying to operate a cart because it seemed suspicious to me. It both cases all was good. My point is many residents look out for unusual cart activity, especially when a set or two of clubs are on the back. We try to use "common-sense" precautions when parking our carts but we rely on our insurance coverage to make us whole again if either of our carts are stolen or damaged. With electric carts like ours it is very easy and cheap to add a hidden, remotely controlled kill-switch if we wanted some added protection against un-wanted drivers. Don |
A cart was stollen earlier this week @ the Colony Plaza across the street--looks like a thief is working the neighborhood

No fear. They know nothing really bad will happen to them if caught.

I thought they were just responsable for all car crashes, bad driving, bad parking, drunkeness, fights, wife beating and general mayhem on the squares, none of which happens at any other time of the year! |

Has anyone come up with a great way to lock the golf cart seat down? I switch my cart to "tow" mode and then any keys will not work. If you can keep the thief from getting to that "tow" switch, he will probably go elsewhere.

You can not use deadly force or display a fire arm unless "your life or another's life" is in peril--prime example of what not do do--an army & navy store owner is facing 2nd degree murder charges because he shot & killed a shop lifter stealing a $16.00 hatchet-

What the hell is wrong with people? It's getting as you can't own anything nice without worrying about it getting clipped. Was this the Neighborhood Walmart or the one on 441? |

My concealed carry insurer CCW Safe-has a lot of info and they provide me with lots of legal protection--again, do not exhibit any firearm unless you're life is in danger

Too late for OP but if one really wants their cart back get a GPS tracker - they are real cheap these days relative to the value of the GC and just 2 wires to connect and they work.

Waterproof GPS Tracker with backup battery for theft/recovery There are 15% coupons floating around the web which I used. I wouldn't deal with the eBay ones for $30. They use Verizon (no extra charge) to communicate for updates, texts etc + obviously GPS for tracking. They are not CONTINUOUS LIVE where you look at a moving dot on a map but poll the vehicle every 5 minutes but can be set to continuous polls or more or less than every 5 minutes. Number of polls is unlimited. You then look at list of poll results and/or a map to track with speeds etc. You can set notifications when vehicle is moved, driven, towed or the device tampered with etc. Also provides outputs to shut down engine etc. If I was tracking my wife I'd look at the continuous polling models but they are more expensive and unnecessary for a golf cart. This is an example of the report (I hadn't installed it yet, device just sitting on my desk with a power supply) |
Isn't there a way to lock the steering wheel, like the old bar used in cars?

If you can find 12v plus and minus (battery or elsewhere always on) that's it.

I guess you would have to ask the police that question and they could answer that for you. :D However using a bit of logic I would think that if you know the location of a $15,000+ item you own that you have reported stolen I would think the police would want to go after the perpetrators if you could show them on a map where it is sitting. If you knew the location of your reported stolen car would they go, or your stolen jewelry? I would think your insurance company would also be interested. |
