Thanksgiving Plans

Who has made them? Who is cooking? Who is going out?

Where are you going if you're eating out?

JSR22 11-05-2018 04:44 PM

We have reservations at Havana for 4 couples.

New Englander 11-05-2018 04:55 PM

We are taking the Barbara Lee out of Sanford, the food is good. The river in great and the owner is a hoot. My wifes sister is coming in from Chicago. We don't go north in the winter. Len & Mary

Having nine for dinner. Both of our grandchildren will be here. Their mom will be in London. Only once in my married life have I not cooked Thanksgiving dinner.

Goodness! Best wishes! :coolsmiley:

At the other end of the spectrum, we'll be a party of three eating take-out of Bob Evan's sliced turkey family meal. Glass of grocery store champagne. Woot!

Us too .......... only we will be gone for 14 glorious days.

B-flat 11-06-2018 08:50 AM

We are going to Osteria Toscana it’s Italian but on Thanksgiving they do a great job with traditional turkey dinners.

Jima64 11-06-2018 09:23 AM

Boss and I will stay home with the pups for a homecooked traditional small turkey. That cruise does sound good.

vintageogauge 11-06-2018 09:34 AM

There are not a lot of restaurants advertising in the Daily Sun, nor did they last year. Only a few "advertised" choices and some are already sold out.

We'll be doing the same. Last year I ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner from Publix. We did not like it at all. Correction -- really liked the Ambrosia side dish but nothing else.

CFrance 11-06-2018 03:14 PM

Two turkeys, 12 people. Thankfully not at our house.

getting ready to go out

eweissenbach 11-06-2018 05:27 PM

I will cook, and sons and daughter will bring a dish or two including a smoked ham. I will fix a turkey with homemade noodles and dressing and mashed potatoes. We will celebrate at our Missouri home, with three kids, three spouses, eleven grandkids, nine in-laws, two sisters, wife's mother, and a nephew and two nieces. That's thirty-two! whew! Hectic fun!

thelegges 11-06-2018 06:37 PM

I brine my turkey and make all fixings, even when no one is coming and we go elsewhere.

It’s a guaranteed plenty of leftovers. Small turkeys are easily obtainable and sides take very little effort.

I am picking up an already brined turkey from Trader Joe’s this year. Hoping it’s as good as mine.

Going to spatchcock our turkey, having 15 family members here.

dewilson58 11-06-2018 07:49 PM

Heading to the Home where my dad is.
Taking T/G food goodies.
One problem.............they lost his bottom dentures.
Trying to be creative with the food items and still give him the flavors without using a blender.

I normally deep fry turkeys during Thanksgiving and cook the rest of the meal, but, I'm having rotator cuff surgery this Thursday (11/8) so Mrs. KC will bake a turkey and split the other cooking with her Mom.

olgreeneyes 11-07-2018 07:03 AM

Ordered the dinners from Publix last year. They were ok, but there was quite a mix up at the store so we had to keep going back to get everything. We are trying Fresh Market this year. Just 4 of us, but we should have enough for days!

Stuffing. Lots of stuffing. Crustless pumpkin pie. Ocean Spray jellied cranberry sauce! Mashed potatoes. Whiskey sours.

Good luck to you, kc. May you heal quickly.

DonH57 11-07-2018 07:54 AM

As always we shall dress in traditional settler attire, consume turkey and all sides, then play football just like the pilgrams and indians did.

NotGolfer 11-07-2018 09:57 AM

Last year I was ill so we made no plans. We purchased the Publix dinner, which was good BUT wayyyy too much food for 2 people. This year we're trying Fresh Market and beyond that have no plans as "one of us" has to work.

I wish I could invite all of those who we would enjoy sharing our dinner with. I am getting older I have to admit.

I know you were teasing, but you would be such a nice person to share the table with.

Happy Thanksgiving De.
