Best Soup

Hi, coming to the Villages in April and really enjoy a soup for lunch. Where can I get the best soups in the Villages. Thanks Peter.

KathieI 03-02-2010 12:27 PM

I vote for Panera's. They have the best soup, and even offer low fat varieties..

aln 03-02-2010 01:07 PM

TooJays has good soups and offer 3 sizes for take out
Nancy Lopez CC has good soups - one in particular I like alot is the Mushroom-brie

Bonny 03-02-2010 02:36 PM

Urban Flats has great soup & I love the New England Clam Chowder at RJ Gators.

My Grandmother made the meanest borscht you ever tasted, with meat, cabbage, veggies, and potatoes.....I have the recipe but not the nerve to make it...........LOL.

zcaveman 03-02-2010 08:48 PM

Panera's broccoli and cheese soup - YUM!!

Bonny 03-02-2010 09:04 PM

Another awesome soup is Cody's loaded potato soup. Delish.

gemorc 03-02-2010 09:37 PM

I vote for the mushroom brie soup at L'il Bits Cafe. Every bit as good and a much more casual atmosphere than at Lopez.

Village07, You were the one whose recommendation I followed on mushroom Brie soup at Nancy Lopez. It is yum-o! Served in a bread bowl too.

Are they still having "Endless soup" at lunch at Lopez??

villages07 03-04-2010 08:45 AM

Gracie... I don't think they offer that right now. I believe it was a summer promotion... maybe it will return this summer. Glad you enjoyed the mushroom brie!!!

I love Thai soups! Siam Orchid has an excellent variety and they let you choose a variety of soups with a lunch entree. Am VERY impressed. www.siamorchidthevillages.com Another thing...is you get service immediately. No long lines like at Toojay's if you want it NOW!

Potato soup a Paneras or Beef Cabbage at Toojays. Also the tomato Dill at Toojays is great.:clap2:

mokey 03-12-2010 01:03 PM

Siam is closed. Hear it may turn into Seafood Galley. Time will tell.

KayakerNC 03-12-2010 04:37 PM

Fire up the Slow Cooker (Crock Pot) and make your own soup.
Comes out the BEST and you know what is in it. No MSG or tons of salt needed.:beer3:

That’s unfortunate, but I really think they picked the wrong location. They were in a large stand-alone building with direct highway (441) access. The rent alone must have been crippling. This type of location can only survive if it’s a big chain operation or “Fern Bar”.

I know Seafood Galley is well rated for its seafood quality, but if they go in there, they’ll be competing with Sam St. John’s right around the corner, and that doesn’t make sense either.

golferling 03-13-2010 07:42 PM

Beef Cabbage soup on Wednesdays at Toojay's, mushroom brie at Lopez, and the best Hot Sour soup ever at Cheungs chinese restaurant.

You are absolutely right Ed, I find it actually STUPID for the two fish places to be so close together. I just miss Thai food at that end of town. But who knows, maybe Thai Orchid will relocate somewhere else. We'll have to keep an eye out for it.
