TV / great place to live

What a great place we live in. My husband drove our golf cart to the small neighborhood Walmart 3 miles from our home this morning. He made a few last minute Christmas food purchases, only to discover at the checkout register that his wallet was at home. A customer behind him INSISTED on paying for his groceries. Hubby did remember to get her name and address (lives in Pinellas) and just mailed her a Christmas card and $ to repay her kindness. Merry Christmas Fellow Villagers

Mleeja 12-22-2018 01:34 PM

Yes, for the most part, this is a wonderful place to live. Very good people!

JSR22 12-22-2018 02:09 PM

I thought it was the best place until this morning. Went to Pet Smart and bought $60 worth of toys and chews for my dog a new puppy coming next weekend. Went to Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital to get some heart worm pills. I was not in there 5 minutes and the bag from Pet Smart was stolen. My fault I did not lock the car. Stealing dog treats and toys in a Vets parking lot is very low.

Are you sure you didn't leave it somewhere? That kind of thing is most unusual, unless the gypsies are back.

No!

I absolutely did not leave it anywhere. I put bag in the car at PetSmart and drove to Buffalo Ridge. I did not bring the bag into the veterinary hospital. Things happen here that are not always positive.

Probably was not a Villager.

My car was surrounded by golf carts. I would be shocked that it was not a Villager.

What a pity you were treated so shabbily. Guess my husband’s involvement with an act of kindness might tip the scales a tad.

JSR22 12-22-2018 05:49 PM

Yes

I feel badly! I am still excited about picking up my puppy next Saturday. If the worse thing that happens to me this week was having $60 taken I am having a great week.
Last year in Fresh Market the men in front of me had forgotten his wallet. I insisted on paying and received the money rounded up to the whole dollar in 2 days.

GREAT place to live!

Leave NOTHING visible in your cart or car. They will break your window for small change. The stores sell tools that break you car window with a tap. The tool is for emergency exit of your car in a accident but the thieves love them.

JSR22 12-23-2018 09:50 AM

Yup

It was on the floor under the dashboard. I drive a convertible, the top was up. but I have been told they will cut the top if they really want entry. Anything of real value I lock in the trunk. I never thought someone would steal $60 of dog toys and treats. Going forward everything will go in the trunk.

Indeed. I wish one of the honest villagers had gotten my package that was put in the wrong mailbox. I waited a week in hopes the person who got it would make it right. No such luck.

JSR22 12-23-2018 09:54 AM

It is a very nice place to live but it is not Utopia.

How do you know it was put in the wrong box?

Not that it matters, but I'll play along with your interrogations.
The package was delivered TO THE USPS postal contractor, who remembered it and admitted that the key got put in the wrong box.

If he/she remembers all that...... does he/she remember what box it was put in? :ohdear:

When I was at my postal station yesterday my guy had a mountain of packages. I'm sure he remembers them all too. :1rotfl:

CWGUY 12-23-2018 10:39 AM

"USPS Informed Delivery" also tells you about packages coming too.

I signed up recently and like it a great deal. :coolsmiley:

I already do informed delivery. That is how I know it made it. It was a very distinctly wrapped package and yes, she remembered it from the day before. Any more interrogations or snarky remarks?

Nothing was stolen from my car. I left it somewhere or gypsies stole it. I know exactly what happened and the bag was stolen from my car at Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital. There were multiple golf carts on each side of my car. I would be amazed that was not a villager. Thieves would be looking in retail store parking lots.

Fredman 12-23-2018 08:36 PM

Well it may have made some dog very happy. Sorry about your loss

Are u saying that gypsies might have stolen your stuff? Gracie has warned us about those gypsies.

OrangeBlossomBaby 12-23-2018 10:53 PM

I really hate the use of the word gypsy. It reeks of ignorance and bigotry. Clearly either none of you have actually looked into the word, or you have an choose to insult the Roma/Romani by using it anyway. Just in case you haven't bothered to check: the word "gypsy" is to the Roma/Romani, what the "n" word is to black people. (Edited because Romani is the word most often used to describe the language, and Roma is commonly used to describe the people, though Romani is sometimes used either way).

Stop using it. No please. Just stop.

Sadly there is no shortage of ignorance and bigotry here and the people who spout it are not going to change. I just ignore these people now.

I am positive it was a Villager.

Merry Christmas, sir.

You can be counted on for both good sense replies and a kind heart.

Highly doubtful. True thieves would be looking in cars at retail store parking lots in the holidays. Much better chance of finding things to steal than an Animal Hospital parking lot. The majority of vehicles were golf carts. I don't think you will find many high ticket items to steal from golf carts.

:ohdear: When was the last time you purchased "golf clubs"? :a20:

Honestly, I am surprised how little theft there are of clubs. My husband's golf cart was parked at one of the courses and someone took his basket filled with his shag balls. They were all ProV1 so I guess they were desirable.

You can substitute Travelers. Than people will get it confused with well, Travelers. I need to look up the word euphemism. It is calling to me now.
