Coke or Pepsi
Why oh Why are the Villages food establish ments predominantly Pepsi?
|
I like Coke, my husband likes Pepsi. Our one big disagreement, but we are able to coexist anyway. :boxing2: I have noticed that; in The Villages, it seems to be assumed that you are ordering a DIET soda, and that stuff is nasty. I have learned to emphasize REGULAR when I am ordering to avoid having to send it back.
|
How about a rum and Pepsi? Yuk!
|
Depends on which company gives the best prices to the establishment.
|
Prefer Coke but will drink Pepsi. Only get Diet in cans at supermarkets.
|
When an establishment commits to a certain brand there is a substantial incentive from the supplier to do so. Just think about how much cola is sold in The Villages' owned restaurants and kiosks.

and why not? Not a big deal.

Water or Ice Tea I don't drink that sugar cr**p
|
When I was in college I used to drink a lot of Coca Cola. At some point to reduce costs the company in the US stopped using real sugar and substituted cheaper corn syrup which changed the taste for the worse. Also I avoid corn syrup and artificial sweeteners as much as possible for the usual, obvious and well known health reasons. Last time I was in France I bought some coke in small cans as it was made with real sugar. Don't know if it still is there or anywhere for that matter.
I would have to be very hard pressed to drink a Pepsi as I never much cared for it. |
Pepsi buys into sit down places quite a bit. They used to own the majority of California Pizza Kitchen, for example. And then, they serve Pepsi.

Diet Pepsi if I can't get Diet Mtn. Dew.

Pepsi No Coke.
I prefer Coke but really have only drink it when we go out to eat. No Lemon Water for me. No Judging the people who go that route. The Olympia Restaurant: Cheeseburger, Chips and Pepsi - SNL - YouTube |

and it was just like that when I went there for lunch,,, but they also said “no fries, just chips!” Oh such great memories! |
Pepsi for us, though I rarely ever drink soda anymore. I prefer water most of the time. A cup of coffee in the morning, water with lemon in it at restaurants (I hate the smell and taste of tap water), noncarbonated spring water throughout the day, and pina coladas or other "fruity rum drink" when I want to imbibe. Or Kahlua and milk. But mostly - water. I'll steal a few sips from my husband's cup of Pepsi when we're eating pizza.

Wife prefers Coke and won't touch Pepsi. I prefer non-colas but will do Coke over Pepsi if I have no other choice. If the choice is only Pepsi, then it's water for me. Actually, since I don't much care for soda from a dispenser (I prefer a cold, freshly opened can), I usually do ice water in the restaurants anyway.
|
Me...I’ll have a coke.
Server....is Pepsi ok? Me........Is Monopoly money OK? Coke for sure. |
I drink Coke, but I marinate steaks in Pepsi and Dale's seasoning. Don't knock it until you try it...easy on the Dales though, unless you are a salt freak.

The Mexican Coke is made with real cane sugar (I used to work for Coca Cola). Most of the local mexican stores carry it.
The reason you see so much Pepsi here is that one of Pepsi's largest bottling operations in the US is near us (Orlando). They will nearly give the syrup away to keep local places serving their product. Same for Coca Cola. And no, Pepsi is NOT OK - not if you like Coke. Pepsi just tastes way to syrupy and sweet. My favorite is Coke Zero. However - prior to joining Coca Cola, one of my favorite sodas was Diet Mountain Dew. Luckily, Coca Cola came out with Mello Yello Zero 9 years ago, and it's pretty close to Mountain Dew - way closer than Pepsi is to Coke. |
I like fountain coke over Pepsi, but bottled or canned I prefer Pepsi. Coke tastes too syrupy to me in can or bottle, but not as bad as dr. Pepper

I used to like Pepsi but now am a dedicated Coke Fan

Whenever I order a Pepsi and the staff person says “ did u want diet “ my response is always” r u calling me fat” if my husband is with me he says “ Did u just call my wife fat” We always get a good laugh out of their reaction, and they do too.

Then there's the customer who says, "I'll have two chocolate eclairs, two of the large peanut butter cookies, three slices of cheesecake, a cinnamon roll...and a diet Coke." :D |
