Larry the Gator is gone.
You whining crybabies finally got what you wished for; Larry the Gator was removed and taken to Gatorland in Orlando. Just couldn’t keep mouths shut, could you? I only wish it was just as easy to complain about y’all and get you relocated.
How about your learning to shut up and leave our native species alone for the rest of us to enjoy? 😡😡😡 |

Well said! I want to know who complained and why and who or what department caved in and had him moved?? These people need to get a life! Wouldn’t it be great to relocate these people so easily?

Larry
As I posted on the evil news site, which of our thoughtful community officials made this decision? He/she should also remove the sandhill cranes, because they endanger speeding drivers.
|
See you later... Larry Gator...
So sorry to see you go.. |
Moving a wild animal to a sanctuary safe for both animal and humans is a good thing. While many have affections for Larry the alligator, it is important to remember that alligators are exquisite predators and deserve not to commingle with humans and small animals. Do some research in Sanible Island if you want to know how to bring people to their senses and respect these animals.

My feelings would be the same if they left him alone, relocated him to Gatorland where he lives long and prospers, or if he was turned into delicious gator bites.
|
What I saw on the TV was they were removing Larry because he was getting close to humans. It also said that people were feeding him. You're not suppose to feed gators.
|
The Gators are having a meeting tonight and they are coming to get Wally Gator (1962) - Intro (Opening) - YouTube the phone of whoever called. Shame on you!
|
Sorry to see him go, glad to see he is going to a preserve, looked for him several times, never saw him, but saw lots of pictures, and the recent video.

BUT WAS HE??????? That's what my mother said about my goldfish when I was 4. He went to the aquarium. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I will miss Larry and wish him well. When we had visitors who simply "MUST see an alligator while in Florida", Larry never let me down. I did not feed him, and am sorry he won't be here for perhaps selfish, personal reasons. Now if we could introduce him to the trouble makers who think they are divinely-appointed inspectors, -------------------------------- Oh, never mind, I have to go print more phony certificates for my phony comfort critter.

Larry
His removal was featured on Orlando TV news. With apologies to Joni Mitchell: "They took Larry Gator and put in a gator museum and charge all the people $50 just to see him."

I don't miss him. His persona didn't reach out to me. I don't miss the buffalo either.
To each their own. |

Lucky Larry... Moved to a bigger lake. Better food. Lady gators galore.
If it wasn't for his notoriety he would have been eventually removed and killed, like the rest his size. |

With the speed that The Villages is expanding, Larry will be back in TV soon! :icon_wink:

The way of the buffalo.... We all knew this was going to happen. Poor Larry.

I can't believe some people are upset that a 11', 700 lb alligator was removed because he was becoming too comfortable around people. I would love to hear these same people's comments if he snatched one of their toy dogs or their grandchildren and walked away with them in his mouth.
Don't feed wild animals. The one time they come to you and you don't feed them, you might become the meal. |

Be smart enough to keep your dogs and grandchildren away from the gators. Always easier to blame the wildlife than hold so called parents/grown-ups responsible. The age of "always someone else's fault". Do whatever is easiest for "me". |
Makes me wonder
Re: Larry?
Wasn't that the rather large gator that became an attraction at the drainage puddle sometimes mislabeled,"pond," on the golf cart path on the way to Traverse plaza? Wasn't it moved, executed last year? Someone last year carved him/she/it a name plate. The one for this year seems to be, if it was removed last year another one. They are interesting but when we have people stopping by to have chat with."Larry," seeking autographs. When we have paparatzy looking to get selfies. IT IS A PROBLEM LOOKING FOR A TIME TO HAPPEN. FAR BETTER THAT IT IS GONE. |

However, I am not sad that big creature has been taken far away. If Larry were a big ole' mama bear, I would feel the same, and any snake. I love most animals and give them human traits. I HOPE they reciprocate and tell their friends. Howsomever, Larry wasn't Bambi. And the Buffalo still live in a field near one of the nine hole courses north of 466 off Buena Vista. Where people do NOT climb over a double fenced area in order to hold their grandchildren up to pet them. |
For some positive news, went by the pond this afternoon and the white pelicans and a large duck flotilla were hanging out.

Check with Sumter County sheriff's department about the woman at Continental that use to feed the gators there a few years back. Note: Use to feed. Against the law to feed the wild life. Same problem as the buffalo, people feeding them and getting their hand bitten. I saw someone try and put his grand daughter on the back of a buffalo to get a picture. I do not know where these idiots come from. Then they want to sue The Villages for their stupidity

So yes, I got ****ed off when the losers in life whining crybabies couldn't keep their mouths shut and got something removed that I used to quietly enjoy watching when I had to go to Brownwood. |

This lizard is in a better place now, being looked after, given food and any medical attention it might need as it ages in life, a HUGE territory with lots of other alligators it can hang out with, AND in a place where anyone can enjoy the opportunity of watching it - and its companions, in a more natural setting than a man-made senior housing development with a few trees and retention ponds and pristine manicured lawns. |
Did you ever notice a certain swagger, a comfortability that a Native Floridian has compared to a Transplanted Floridian when it comes to fishing or being around a body of water? It's almost like they have a built-in sensor for impending danger. I walk past a puddle in a parking lot and I cautiously thinking all the time about the dangers that are around us. It is not an unhealthy fear it is respect. Its because it's not built into my DNA like it is for others.
I believe that a person who is a former Law Enforcement Officer or did something like that for a living in some other part of our country who enjoys wildlife is more apt to use common sense and not walk his dog or take his grandchild or walk with his or her partner near any danger. A person who was a florist (just an example) may not possess the same or all the sensors that a person in a dangerous job their entire life possesses. There is no way that Larry Baby would have hurt anyone. There will be another Larry in that pond shortly. Leave the beast alone and don't feed 'em. There are thousands of them around us at all times. I doesn't matter what you think or what I think or type on this Forum Zippity Do Da is going to change. Marlin Perkins would be in tears over Poor Larry. |
I just don't think he's "Poor Larry." I think he's in a much healthier environment - for Larry. I think it was Poor Larry when he was boxed in by development. I celebrate his move, for his own sake.
