Hacienda Hills Restaurant to Close

4/23/2019 Daily Sun, pg A10
Hacienda Hills Country Club Restaurant will serve its last customers at the close of business Saturday (April 27), according to Mahesh Nomula, the owner.

It does not affect either the golf pro shop or the golf cart rental operations.

The closing comes as the Amenity Authority Committee considers a possible acquisition of part of the country club from The Villages.

Yet another " Dive " bites the dust.

That Dive, as you call it, used to be THE place to dine in TV. Had to wear jackets and ties to dine there, and ladies dressed in their Sunday best. No shorts, tees or muscle shirts here! If the rest of the country club restaurants go that way it will be a sad day for TV.

Yes, it would be nice to have a dress code at some of the country clubs, IMHO the Villages could use a true supper club restaurant where skorts and men in sandals are never to be seen.

I hope that someone comes in and saves Hacienda. We really need a country club in the area. It would be nice if The Villages would help a new person with the expenses needed to bring the property back to something nice. Orange Blossom managed to come back. There may be hope for Hacienda.

I would be happy if men started, by just taking their hats off...while sitting at the dinner table. :ohdear:

The Palms, I believe was the name.

Very sad. It used to be our go to place for Sunday brunch. Quality and service went downhill a while ago.

We had dinner there about a month ago. Few customers. Food was mediocre and the so called music the same. The place was definitely in need of a “makeover”. A far cry from the restaurant where we had a romantic dinner during our lifestyle visit years ago. Things change.

Years ago I was so impressed by this country club. Someone will bring back hopefully.

I must agree the dress code in America has gone by the wayside. I also wish men would at least remove their hats inside....

I agree this drives me crazy. It used to be just kids, but now I see our resident doing it. I realize that everything is casual here in The Villages and I like it that way, but I consider wearing a hat indoors to be rude. Take them off and don't be afraid to let people see that you're bald.

I always felt that Hacienda had a more resort feel to it than the other CCs. Hope it survives.

While I personally gave up on the HH restaurant quite a while ago, I do hope the inept little old lady who made so many mistakes, but seemed to try really hard, finds another job soon...if she wants one of course.

We live in the neighborhood and stopped eating here a couple years ago when the World of Beer owner took over. The food and service went from OK to mediocre overnight. A good management team and good chef could turn this place around in a hurry. But it looks like the developer has given up on it.

Hacienda Country Club and the Pool bar have now closed. The pool is up in the air at the moment no one seems to know when and if it will close.. Does anyone have any info on this? Tried to get answers from the AAC and District Reps and it was typical "no one knows anything which is very disappointing as you know they know right well what they are planning.

That is so sad as you are correct the right owners could make that into a gold mine. They could have golfer specials to change it up, the pool could have pool specials and maybe even open a coffee bar with pastries in the am. IF it was run properly and people were friendly it could be great. The last thing we need in this area is another rec center. Tierra has a lovely pool but it is quite small so loosing Haciendas pool would be awful. In order to keep it a Priority pool don't they have to be associated with a restaurant of pool bar?

So will the people that paid for a priority membership with pool rights get a refund??? We don't live very far from HH and are hoping very much that it will eventually open up again with good management. I suspect that if the District Govt. opts not to buy it, which I hope they will not, that the developers will do like they did at Tierra Del Sol and reluctantly take over and make it into a decent place again. It would be a major black eye for the Villages to have one of the original Country Club restaurants/pools to be permanently shut down. Time will tell?
