Rialto Theater

This is probably old news but I just heard from Ryan McCabe in the Morse meeting that is televised on channel 2, the Rialto Theater will be undergoing a complete remodel. This includes recliner seats, a new sound system and a restaurant in the lobby. Finally, this theater will getting a much needed and overdue renovation. The project is starting this summer and will be completed next year and will be closed during the renovation.

Air quality, the first and only time my family went, my daughter smelled someone’s diapers so strongly she had to leave.

Heard about reclining seats etc too - new seats, no matter how reclining et al will negate the non-stadium seating configuration. That is the core of the issues at Rialto.

That would be like Savannah Center improving their main seating area that way...

Huh?

The place smelled so strong not quite like an outhouse but I thought maybe better ventilation would go a long way.... it may have been a one time only event. I hate to complain this was so serious though.

I suspect that would be part of the renovation....since reopening is 2020 I suspect this is a major project. Savannah would be more difficult since that room is used for other stuff which is why the "balcony" renovation folds against the back wall.

Bigger screens too??? Now it's like a lot of folks home theaters. :) They would obviously need less actual theaters to do that.

Sorry to hear it will be closed for so long and I would guess this might bump up the price?

You get what you pay for....:). Since most posts here are about the inadequacy of the Rialto I would think the patrons would be more than happy to throw in a couple bucks to get a better facility.

I like the Rialto as it is.

Larger screens weren't mentioned that I heard. Agree that larger screens are needed. Hope it is possible to do that.

Our local movie theater in NJ had a complete major renovation of their theaters with the recliner seats and all the niceties that are being done to movie theaters these days. They still had $5 movies every day before 11am.

Hubby and I refused to see the one time showing of the West End theatrical production of 42nd Street at the Rialto Theater. The Rialto sucks the way it is. We went to Mt. Dora to see 42nd Street.

I hope it may have been a plumbing problem, and if nobody else notices the smells then it was only then. So glad to hear it. I’d love to go back.

Love2Swim 05-14-2019 05:59 AM

We try to avoid the Rialto, if the movie is showing elsewhere. Hope the projects alleviates the seating problems.

I can't wait. Maybe they will open a Taco Stand to stink of the new Rialto just like Sumter Landing. Seriously, selling Taco's in a movie theater. Yuck! I guess if they show a Mexican Movie, you can get SMELL Sound. You know what happens when elderly people eat Taco's.......

Old Mill has tacos and a bar and I noticed the other day that Barnstorm, in Brownwood, sells beer at the concession stand. Where is this trend leading? Movie over, wake up the drunks.

So exactly how old do you have to be before you're considered elderly?
Taco's haven't sat right with me since my 30's.

There are plenty of movie theaters all over the country who offer food and alcohol. Have been to these, I have yet to see any sleeping intoxicated movie-goers, nor have I heard of any rampant problems with this.

Plenty of sleepers way before drinks were served at Old Mill.
