Glen View CC

Glen View CC was open for business on Monday evening. We went to have a glass of wine and a sandwich last night. It was reasonably busy, the bar crowd seem to be regulars and were very noisy, other than that it was very pleasant. The meals we had were good and we will be going back.

However, we did have one critique regarding the bar or lounge, every table was set for dinner with water glasses, napkins, side dishes etc., very formal. At the moment there is no set bar menu, that may change, but right now it is one menu throughout the restaurant.

Also, you can no longer seat yourself in the lounge area, you have to wait for the hostess to seat you and get a waitress. How will that work with golfers coming in from playing in this heat, that may not last too long either!

I wish them well, we need a good CC restaurant in this area.

I'm pleased to read about the change in ownership of the restaurant business at Glenview.

I've heard the Lopez is good and consistent.....anyone concur or disagree?

We ate dinner there last evening with another couple. Conch chowder, caesar salads, mussels, veal meat loaf and a burger with pork belly. All very good and so was the service.

My husband had the mussels and he said they were very good. I had a sandwich, nicely sliced through and looked very appetizing. Presentation and service was excellent.

I was told that the new owner/management also runs Lopez, Havana and Red Sauce. If he keeps the food and service as good as it is now, he will do very well.

I would like to add that his wait staff were all very professionally dressed. We have been going to Glenview for many years and there was no dress code before, it adds to the ambience of the restaurant.

JSR22 05-29-2019 02:33 PM

The new owner owns Red Sauce. Another family member owns Lopez, Havana and Red Sauce. The Suleimans run great restaurants.

So, there are two owners of Red Sauce?

JSR22 05-29-2019 04:07 PM

My mistake. Johnny Rockets not Red Sauce.

Is the Suleiman family a Father and two adult sons?

JSR22 05-29-2019 04:20 PM

I am pretty sure there are more than 2 brothers. I know there is sister that I met at Havana. I am not sure if the other younger men are brothers or cousins. David's FIL manages Havana.

pauld315 05-29-2019 04:23 PM

Now that they have that opened, I hope the Sulieman's consider opening Hacienda.

JSR22 05-29-2019 04:25 PM

Hacienda

I wish that would happen but I have not heard they are purchasing Hacienda.

We've been to Lopez twice and had a great meal both times. I'm hoping that Glenview will return to being a great restaurant. It's such a pretty setting.

I would like to see someone capable taking over Hacienda; however, I think that would be a huge task compared to what they had to do to Glenview. Glenview is a very attractive building in a beautiful area and the only problem was the quality of food and service. The Hacienda is totally different, it is an ark of a place and (I think) the interior needs WORK.

There are so many people who do not want to eat in fast food restaurants and would prefer to dine in a local country club where you get to meet your neighbors and have the same wait staff on a regular basis.

Since the other guy closed the doors, who would they purchase it from? I thought they would just go in and start a lease with the developer.

pauld315 06-01-2019 07:26 PM

My wife and I just had dinner at Glenview CC tonight. Service was attentive and great and the food was delicious. The new menu looked terrific and we can't wait to go back and try more items off of it. If you have been avoiding this place for the past couple years, like we have, I would suggest you give it a try now that the guy who owns Red Sauce has it.

Hopefully, it would/will be someone as good...as those who run Tierra Del Sol.

TDS's service, menu and serving sizes...are now very impressive.

Do you realize that "those that run Tierra Del Sol" are the Developer?

All of these are run by TV:
Katie Belle's Music Hall
Tierra Del Sol Bar & Grill
Lazy Mac's Taco Shack
Amelia's at the Waterfront Inn
Fenney Grill

Yes...I knew that.

One of Da Family members is very fond of the theater there, so I don't see it being contracted out anytime soon.

I simply hope that whomever Glenview gets to oversee their day-to-day operations...is as competent as who The Developer has running TDS.

Are you talking about Hacienda? Glenview was just taken over by the Suileman's and they are very competent.

No, my comment was about Tierra Del Sol.

Has anyone eaten @ the Glenview recently, since the take over--looking for a review, please indicate what you had

Went with a group of 12 lady golfers for lunch last Saturday...first time since change in ownership.

The menu was much better, service was great, and food was good. I thought the prices were reasonable. The place looked cleaner than I remembered but could still use a facelift. Everyone enjoyed their food...a mix of salads, sandwiches, and appetizers. I will definitely go back and want to try dinner. I had a sinful open face grill cheese with bacon and tomato. Not healthy but very tasty.

I am encouraged....I had been down on Glenview for a couple of years.

hoopsterdad 07-12-2019 01:16 PM

have not seen any comments on the all important village's question, is there a happy hour, and how much?

Maybe only important to some. If the food isn’t good why worry about happy hour

Chatbrat 07-12-2019 02:56 PM

lots of better happy hours, than Suleiman restaurants--their food is generally above average-& that's what counts

yesi3putt2 07-14-2019 07:54 PM

we went Sunday..Mother's Day for our regular Sunday brunch...the don't serve the brunch anymore...only 1 menu..and no crab benedicts either..and the server said "No Sharing"...it's printed right on the menu...we walked out

CaptainMorgan 07-15-2019 06:27 AM

Great experiences recently at Glenview CC

Been there a few times since new management. Consistently good service and food. Lunch menu is typical country club faire. Lots of choices.

Dinner menu is great! I have had swordfish and steak roast and loved them both. Service staff are well trained and check on your needs during the meal.

Another plus is plenty of parking and not having to deal with crowds at square restaurants.

As a side note: When an establishment has "Lots of choices", it's difficult to put out great food. Sometimes it's better to offer less and make the less better.

Don't know if these is an issue here.......but probably is an opportunity.

Chatbrat 07-15-2019 06:36 AM

yes, a limited menu, normally indicates much better quality--real prepared food , not microwave --boil in the bag, that lots of restaurants pass off on the public in TV

Ownership of the restaurant has changed since you were there on Mothers Day. That's a good thing. Give it another try.

ohiosbestus 07-16-2019 07:59 AM

We play golf at Glenview.......They need to come up with a lunch menu for golfers special for around 7.00 to 8.50. I believe if they dont golfers will go elsewhere for lunch instead of Gleview.

Where would they go?

Lopez has come up with golfers specials recently. Same owners so Glenview probably will soon.
