Hacienda Hills to become a casino?

That's what one CDD supervisor suggested.

Talk about dumb, and given current state laws, almost impossible... ideas.
:ohdear:

Thank goodness for Disney.... Hint.. Sarcasm

They really did such harm to Florida, most people can not even imagine.

Agree it's dumb but a poker room with some OTB and a Tiki bar already exists at Oxford Downs on 301 north of 466. They said that would never be built. [emoji6]

I don't gamble at all. So a casino wouldn't interest me. However, I feel it would be a huge success. There are a lot of people who like to gamble. Look at the lottery sales in supermarkets.

A golf cart accessible casino on Morse Boulevard, giving out free drinks - what's not to like?

Better double the number of ambulances on hand, for a start.

There goes the neighborhood.

A Casino in The Villages, huh? It’s more likely to snow today in TV before that would happen...

I hope very much you are correct, that does not represent the Villages lifestyle we are accustom to, land it is way too close to home for us.

pauld315 06-15-2019 08:47 PM

We need new people who actually are not in the developers pockets and half a brain elected to these positions

Fredman 06-15-2019 09:08 PM

Not going to happen.

Casinos are illegal in Florida unless you are an Indian or have a license for pari-mutual gambling. Oxford is a licensed racetrack.
That must be a real brilliant CCD supervisor??? Not!

The pool bar is open for business. Beverages as well as a sandwich menu. I’m told Katie Belles is operating it

Why can only people from India build a casino? ;)

Mleeja 06-28-2019 08:50 PM

A casino in The Villages would kill all those “open card” Texas hold-em games at the rec centers!

manaboutown 06-28-2019 10:02 PM

All they have to do is find a way to determine it is in actuality Indian-owned land, dredge up or preferably create some fantastic long lost tribal occupancy story and have the casino developers claim they are long lost tribal members. Viola! A casino to leach money from the populace to the tune of $1,000,000 a day! It was done in Connecticut. Indian Tribes Say Aid Comes Only to Those Who Donate to Democrats - The New York Times

Nah. There is a card room on 301. Hasn't killed anything. Playing at the rec centers is more about fun with friends and neighbors.
