Chop House
We'll be there on opening day for our anniversary. I hope the steaks are really good.
|
The menu looks terrific. Need 8 for a res.
|
Ate at the Chop House in Dayton Ohio last night. Shrimp in the shrimp coctail were rubbery but the cocktail sauce was wonderful. The steak was seasoned well and tasted great but was difficult to cut, suspect a knife that was not up to the task. The salad and potato were good but nothing special. Server was great, facility was great. Should be a great addition to TV. There was a JAlexanders down the street and it was tempting but wanted to try a Chop House
|
The employees bosses were having a big pow wow in the lanai area when I golf carted by around about 11:45 this morning.
They are all in uniforms. Or at least the employees looked to be. |

It is not part of the franchise. The name is Chop House at Lake Sumter. It is a different menu. It is on their FB page.
|
How can a comparison be made between two restaurants, one in Ohio & one in Florida??
|
My understating that there is a Chop House going into Ocala. That one may be part of the chain and seems to me Chop House could be a pretty generic name. Meanwhile, we used to visit the Davenport area and while staying there we went to a small chain called Manny’s Original Chop house in Haines City, we always had a great meal there.

Chop House is a generic term for a certain type of restaurant. So having Chop House as part of the name does not group all into a chain. Google will show you that name is everywhere and unrelated.

A good start is a chop house menu selection. So far so good.
"FMK Restaurant group is excited to announce, Chop House at Lake Sumter, its newest concept located in The Villages, Florida with a planned opening of early Summer 2019. Chop House at Lake Sumter will provide an elegant menu with a focus on serving aged steaks, pork chops, chicken, as well as seafood" Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk |
Just a thought, the best steak house in the US, Peter Luger charges $84.00/ for a steak for two--they have a six month wait list
Now some of the clubs here charge $38.00+ for a steak--here's the ?--how many people do you think would pay that kind of $$$ for a good steak in TV Without support, the hope for a good steak house here will be nothing but a pipe dream Hope it works |
Chop House menu is on their FB page. Entree's under 30 with the exception of a few prime choices that will be MP. The menu selection looks good to me. Looking forward to going there. Peter Luger's prices would not work here and especially because you need to pay cash.
|
Rooting for their success and hoping they add rib eye to the menu. As for Pete Lugers, buy a bottle of their signature steak sauce at Publix and get a prime steak at Fresh Market or Costco and enjoy! A heck of a lot cheaper than going to NYC.
|
no one who really knows uses any steak sauce on a truly good steak--the absolute best steaks for sale in this area are @ Sam's prime counter 2" thick ribeyes or humongous tomahawks--making a good or super steak isn't rocket science
1)prime meat @ room temp 2) sear each side @ 1000 degrees one minute 3 )remove set aside 4) place back in heat @ 450 smothered in butter till internal temp hits 110 5) tent 10 minutes as good as Peter Luger |
I like Costco prime better than Sam's prime. Costco's rib caps are wonderful.
|
Sam's is here Costco isn't , we buy Mercedes because we never have to set foot in a dealership in Orlando

The topic is the new "Chop House" restaurant in The Villages. It would be more useful if the posts were limited to those persons who have actually experienced the new restaurant.
If you want to have a general discussion about where to get good steaks, feel free to start another thread. Anybody eaten at the Chop House yet??? Moderator |

Not me, but I will. :1rotfl: |

As long as its not a chain, it might have a chance, hope they sell steaks by the pound, 12 oz--24 oz, keep it a steak house--no prime rib

I know what you mean..........it's funny & sad at the same time. Unfortunately, I don't think a higher-end priced house can survive here with retired budgets. There will probably be a weekly prime rib special for The Villagers. Time will tell. |
Their menu is on their FB page. There are steaks, no prime rib, duck, veal, lamb shank, short rib, salmon, chicken and more Several prime cuts at MP.
|
I give it 18 months.
I don't believe there are enough non-tightwads in TV...to sustain a place like this. :duck: Until such time however...it will be nice to have the choice. |
Kinda of reminds me of when I was in business, I said I would do a job for nothing--some people would say "too much"
Its not IMHO, the idea of being on a fixed income is an excuse--some how when a person hits 70+, the cheap side of the brain takes over |
Went past the Chop House last night, looked like they were having a soft opening. Driving past in the golf cart there was the distinct aroma of a steak house. That is a good sign.

Soft opening for family, friends equals to not open to public until tomorrow.
After all family and friends are not going to post all the things they did not go right during the nightmare of first week of business. Kinks take awhile to smooth out. |
They just opened a chop house in northwest suburban Chicago. My kid sent this picture of his meal. Mouth watering photo. Can't wait for LSL one to open.
