solatubes
We are considering putting in 3 solatubes, one in kitchen, one in Master bath and one in guest bath. After talking with the "solar Guys"they keep telling us they are the original and the best...Anyone use someone other than the solar guys? The rep says they are the original owners of the patent design...Any help is appreciated as they are rather expensive...

Solar Guys
I have used them for 5 Solar Tubes and 2 Solar Attic fans. I swear by their product and several of my neighbors are having them installed also. When we went to the last show there was on a $10.00 difference between them and the other company at the show. This was the one over by Colony Rec Center back in May. I went to their show room also and saw their product.

What kind of price are they giving you? I would think you would have a 14" in the kitchen and 10" in the bathrooms..

We used them, and The Solar Guys are totally professional and very good. We had Rob, and yes, they do hold the patent.

We've used The Solar Guys for our house, three tubes and two attic fans. They're great, the tubes and the guys.
My Mom-in-law has also had them install tubes and fans in her houses, as have our neighbors. They were recommended to us by an old friend when we moved here. Have a 10 inch in the bathroom, a 14 inch in the kitchen, and a 14 inch in the dining/living room area. In the four years we've had them, no problems. If you live in Sumter County, do know that you are now required to get a permit. Cost is $65. They get it, but it is required. |
We have two and will add at least more. They are wonderful. Don't know who installed them as they were already here when we purchased the house. We plan to use The Solar Guys whenever we add more based on so many recommendations in various threads on TOTV.

Have three solar tubes and a solar attic fan from Solar Guys, they did a great job for us. showed up on time, cleaned up after they were done.
Highly recommended |
We just install 5 tubes this week! Two 14" in the kitchen (it is so wonderful in my kitchen now--the light draws me in and makes me want to cook!), another 14" in the garage, and a 10" in the master bath and another 10" in the guest bedroom where I do my oil painting. There was already a 10" in the guest bath when we moved in and a solar attic fan, too. The Solar Guys are very professional and do a very clean installation. In our previous home, we used another brand (Velux) and were disappointed in the amount of light transmitted.

Solatube costs?
So, what kind of charges are we talking about for the lights and fans? What is the value of adding these solar fans, I get the light tubes.

We also used Solar Guys for our 5 new solar tubes. The only help I can give you ..... sometimes the Solar Guys advertise in local magazines and give coupons off for a discount. (They also give a discount if you get several tubes). |
Also recommend the Solar Guys. We have had them install a solar tube and a solar attic fan. We signed up for the solar attic fan at the Arts & Crafts show in Colony Plaza back in May. They were giving a 10% discount to anyone signing up for one of their products at that show. They usually have a booth at the Arts & Crafts shows, so if you are not in a hurry you might want to consider waiting for the next show to save a few bucks. (Not sure but I think the next show is in LSL in early November).

With all of these wonderful endorsements, we can only hope that The Solar Guys will reconsider advertising on Talk of The Villages We would love to have them as a sponsor, and it's obvious that our members are keen to use their service.
28,000 times a day, people read pages on TOTV. I sure would want my business in front of all of those eyes. |

By the way, I got a stack of 3x5 card coupons in the mail today. In there was a card from Solar Guys for $50 off solatube purchase. Good thru 7/31. Check your mail or let me know how I can get the coupon to you.
I've got my 2 solatubes and 1 solar attic fan from Solar Guys and couldn't be happier with the product and installation. |
Would somebody please tell these guys that they should be advertising here???????
|
what is a general price for the solar tubes?
|
Wow! Thanks everyone! We will most definitely use them as everyone seems very happy with them..One more question, those of you with the solar fans in attic...Good choice? Cost? We had not really thought of the fans, just the tubes..For the poster with the coupon offer, thanks! The solar guys said they would give us the 50.00 off without the coupon if we get 3 done...

I find it interesting that not a single happy customer does not reply to the requests for cost. Everyone just keeps telling how much was saved in the deal.?????

Ain't it the truth?

I paid $550 about a year ago for the largest tube they sell (either 13 or 14") and an 'upgraded' diffuser lens.
Solar attic fan about 2 years ago was approx $450. Can't speak to current prices and permit costs and discounts but this will give you a ballpark. Smaller tubes (10" I believe) will cost less...maybe $100 less??? |
Thank You , yes ballpark is good to know.
