The Bond brand is dead.

You just can’t reinvent the wheel, no matter how hard they try to.

Velvet 07-16-2019 09:17 PM

Bond is not relevant these days, as dead as Ian Fleming. It would have been more interesting if this casting was done earlier.

Bay Kid 07-17-2019 05:34 AM

Ha, ha, ha.

Love the Bond series.

Probably would not pay to see her.

:icon_wink: I think I saw her trying to navigate a round-about yesterday...... LICENSED TO KILL

manaboutown 07-17-2019 09:16 AM

Coked up Hollywood has been miscasting lead roles for years but this one attains the height of absurdity so far. In the books written by Ian Fleming James Bond is a chain-smoking (was it Chesterfield's?), tuxedo or dinner jacket wearing smooth talking lady's man. Remember Miss Moneypenny? lol

Now if she is a good actress put her into a role that is believable.

tophcfa 07-17-2019 10:20 AM

Will she also be cast as a lesbian so she can continue the tradition of being a womanizer?

This is not James Bond. Just the agent who has the license to kill attached to the 000s. In this case 007.

James Bond is supposedly retired in the next Daniel Craig Bond movie and comes out of retirement facing a villain played by Rami Malik. Bond 25 | FULL cast list – Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas join Daniel Craig - Radio Times

There may be another male Anglo-Saxon James Bond who replaces the Daniel Craig one. It is probably the Broccoli family calling the plays. Barbara Broccoli - Wikipedia

Ian Fleming - Wikipedia Does not look like Ian Fleming has any close living relatives to pass on his wishes.

John_W 07-17-2019 02:31 PM

I thought they really messed up when they didn't choose Robin Roberts, that could of been a trifecta. A gay black woman, what could be better that? My second choice would be Jessie Smollett, but I heard he's going to be the next Batman :1rotfl:

It really helps if people...actually read the link.

While Daniel Craig is returning to play James Bond himself, according to this leak, Bond begins the film in retirement and is called back to active duty when a crisis hits.

In the M16 office, he meets the new 007 — not the new Bond, but the new holder of that alias — a black woman named Nomi, played by Lynch.

It's truth and fact that a black actress will be playing the new 007. It's all over the media also. I thought you were one not to leave out the facts? No it doesn't matter, and personally I don't give 2 .....s
I stated above it's the end of the Bond brand. There will only be one Bond...James Bond 007.

One Bond, represented by 9 different actors so far, none of whom looked like the others.

So now there'll be another Bond. Except the writers won't pretend that it's the same man, played by different actors who don't look alike at all. This time, it'll be a different Bond, who isn't trying to look like the others.

I'm fine with that.

That would be a nice change. And maybe he will use 001! 001 does not sound as cool as 007, though.

I second that emotion! I was 12 years old when my father took me to see Goldfinger, that hooked me on Sean Connery as Mr. Bond, Mr. James Bond. :bigbow:

A black James West and female Ghostbusters. We can handle it (might be better than some of the Bond clunkers). Remember little Jimmy Bond?

Agreed! We started with him and once he wasn't doing it anymore, it just didn't seem the same. Change isn't always the best for certain things.

That was my point. See, you said there could only be ONE James Bond. My reply is that there wasn't ONE James Bond. There were 9 of them. If there were only one, they would've all been played by actors who at least looked alike. But they weren't. The suspension of disbelief was shot to hell the first time they switched actors. The only thing they all had in common was that they had British accents.

My point, is that at least now, they're not going to try and pretend that the new main character is a 10th "James Bond". They're going to do something different, and the new main character will be someone other than another "James Bond."

This reminds me of a lesson. Some students at my Bible School were convinced that the Bible could guide them privately each day. They would take the book and randomly open it at a page, in either the Old or the New Testament and then do it again to get their daily message. My theology professor, Rev Dewy, once demonstrated: he opened the Bible and read “and Judas hanged himself” then he opened it to another page and read “do so likewise”.
Yes, context is everything.

birdawg 07-19-2019 11:08 AM

I would like to see more Eskimos in television commercials. Just saying.

Velvet 07-19-2019 11:21 AM

They prefer “Inuit” these days. I think Eskimo means “raw meat eater”. My girlfriend taught grade one in Frobisher Bay and she had to learn their language.

Inuit is only correct for all Canadian and Greenland native groups. There are non-Inuit populations in Alaska [and Siberia]

Velvet 07-19-2019 12:36 PM

Yes, I suppose I am particularly sensitive for them perhaps because of my girlfriend. She would send me photos of her young students surrounding two small polar bear cubs which they adopted because the hunters killed the mother for food as they did not know she had cubs. The children fed and brought up the cubs. The young students drew beautiful and very colorful pictures. In the arctic everything seems grey but their pictures showed very bold and intense colors.

I would love to see them cast in a movie.
