Starbucks SS closing
Sign on the door, July 18.
 |
Stop the Madness
Definitely a Starbucks is on my criteria checklist to move to The Villages.
|
My fault. Never went to Starbucks. Sorry guys.
:mornincoffee: |
Starbucks has way too many stores and they are pruning
as opportunity allows. Just look at how many are within 5 miles of TV.

Wouldn't mind a Dunkin Donuts take their place:laugh:

How about Krispy Kreme?

I think Panera's popularity drove them out.

It sure wasn't Panera's horrible coffee!

I'll second a Krispy Kreme. Can you believe that Krispy Kreme went out of business in Rhode Island?

Dunkin Doughnuts and McDonalds have cut into their business big time. |
Starbucks decision process around closing stores and opening new ones is strictly around margin. You have to wonder about the rent structure in TV with the huge business turnover. Every time I was there they seemed busy. I would think that TV management company would prefer to have a stable business profile for their rental properties vs the current turnover rate. Savy business people looking to lease space want that information and use it to select a place where they can make a profit. In the property management business you want to attract and retain good solid business tenants. My guess is Starbucks is high on that list. Seems TV is driving to many good businesses away with their rent structure. Even the really good ones will cut corners and it only hurts us, the consumer.

Dunkin' Donuts would be great and is gaining more popularity here in Florida. BTW, we could use a Boston market here too ! Good fast meals, priced right.
|
I can't say that any coffee that Starbucks has is worth the premium price.
|
I vote for Krispy Kreme. But does anyone know anything about their coffee? Never tried it - I was too young to like coffee when I lived near a Krispy Kreme!
|
Been here 2 weeks and am in Krispy Kreme withdrawl. I know that SS sells them near Katy Belle's. But I'm looking for the "Hot Now" sign. By the way, they're coffee is very good.
|
Lots of you are probably too new here to remember the Bichara Bakery that used to be in there. I was really sad when they moved out and Starbucks moved in. I would love to see them come back in there. Great food! Never have been nor will ever be a Starbucks fan.
|
fyi, for those who mentioned dunkin donuts there is a golf cart accessible one on 466 across from the southern trace publix.
|
Definitely against Krispy
I love dunkin coffee with a blueberry cake or french crueller donut. But when I see the hot sign on at Krispy, I forget about coffee and the next thing you know I've had 6! And the sad part is, it's almost impossible for me not to go in!:D

YES! When the "Hot Now" sign is on they will give you a free "Original Glazed" right off the line!

dillywho-- I remember Bichara. I hated it when they closed. I use to like to take a piece of their cherry pie home, for dessert.
|
Close out -- a trend? Maybe
Just found out Barnie's ( the one in front of walmart on 466) and Nathan ( the one inside Walmart on 466) were closed. Probably more close-out will be expected this summer.

Is a Ruth Chris steak that much better than Outback? Is a Lincoln that much better than a Ford? Is a Villages home that much better than a Wildwood home? And while you're at it ask Tiger the value of WORTH! :1rotfl: |
hoagies and donuts and coffee, oh my
starbucks has some good coffee and pastries; dunkin donuts..ok coffee, and lousy donuts (where is the filling); krispy kreme....there is a reason why all of them went out of business in the philadelphia area.
but...is a real shame that you cannot get anything from a WAWA here in Florida........that is some great coffee! the best donuts come from anyone but chain stores...... has anyone had pennsylvania dutch potato donuts? ummm! there are no calories in donuts with holes, because the calories just drop through the holes..... jeff :MOJE_whot: |
OK, if you want the really best donuts, go to Spudnuts on Avon St in Charlottesville, VA.

Right, the last time I stopped to pick uphot doughnuts, I was not offered that extra free hot doughnut. My wife was disappointed. She always has to eat 2 or 3 before we get out of the parking lot.

A Note on Panera
I have a beef with Panera's; They have too much salt -especially in their soups. They should be more considerate of the age of the average Villager and their need to restrict salt intake.Talking to the local manager was useless - they are told how to make the soup by management, and that's it!!! I went to Panera's web site and left a msg re the salt issue and was contacted by someone in customer relations. I explained the problem and was told I would be contacted with a reply. That was several weeks ago........

Salt.
Not just Pannera's. It seems every restaurant or eating establishment loads up their food with salt. When you ask for no salt in your food, you are told it is already prepared that way as the salt is already in the food.
If the Villages is going to talk about a healthy lifestyle, why not start with the cc restaurants and have them offer a salt free menu. Same goes for the chain stores. Best bet, eat at home more often. |
