What is the loudest restaurant in The Villages?

My vote goes to The Lighthouse inside seating. Texas Roadhouse for outside The Villages.

I agree with both choices.

City Fire when they have a live band.

But, I was at Katie Belles one evening, ordered food in the bar area, and had to cancel the food order because the band started playing and it literally hurt my ears. The waitress said she fully understood. In fact, she had told us that she had to take our order before the band started bacause she would not be able to hear our order after they started playing.

All of them, seniors can't hear and have to talk loud...Just a condition that comes with age

The Glenview was barely tolerable, noise wise , by the way how is the Glenview with its new owners ?

Still noisy, but food is MUCH better.

Can’t recall its name, but that Mexican restaurant at Colony should rank way up there.

I used to have an app on my phone that measured decibel levels and showed comparisons to various noise levels, like rustling leaves, jet engines, and everything in between. It was interesting, and often appalling to put my phone on the table to measure the noise level in some restaurants, especially in TV.

I do not understand why some people in TV insist on their huge groups being seated at one long table. Then they all have to yell to be heard, while making the diners seated near them miserable. Maybe they like to relive their school cafeteria days — whatever — makes me want to start a food fight — with my first aim taken at the screeching howler. (There is always at least one.)But (sigh) I am a nice lady — even though there are people who bring out some wicked thoughts in me. I like to think I would quickly have some joiners if I flung some mashed potatoes. But I will keep my dream of starting a food fight restrained. Besides, then there would probably be a mugshot of me in that other online tabloidy thing.

You see, I love a good conversation over a pleasant lunch or dinner out. Remember those?

(Btw, I cannot remember the name of that decibel measuring app but I am sure there are plenty of them. Mine must have been lost when I got a new phone.)

I agree, went once about a year ago a couple of months after they opened and never went back. Similar food to Bob Evans, which is much quieter.

REDCART 08-24-2019 03:45 PM

Gio’s Deli in Oxford has a back room that has a tile floor, and block walls. The noise level there can be painful! A close second would be Texas Roadhouse.

Nucky 08-24-2019 04:08 PM

How about the Grand Daddy of them all. La Hacienda C.C. For us it was the noise, not all the other things that did them in. We never got a bad meal there.

Have not been back to Texas Roadhouse since the week after they opened. Noise related.

You start with the mashed potatoes and I'll aim the pea-shooter (filled with peas) at anyone who gets hit. Green booger-bumps for the win!

Chatbrat 08-24-2019 05:19 PM

Texas Roadhouse= Chuckie Cheese for grown ups--

Northwoods 08-24-2019 07:36 PM

I'd like to add Mallory to the list. It can be loud during dinner.

Bosoxfan 08-24-2019 10:26 PM

Fenney Grill ..the bar patrons are almost in your lap and the more they drink the louder they get

I agree. We ate at the Fenney Grill recently and nearby folks at the bar were so loud we could barely carry on a conversation at all.

theorem painter 08-25-2019 07:09 AM

Last night at Gio's Deli. Never again at night.

Am I the only one who was trying to figure out where the "Denney Grill" is?

I could have written this post. I thought Hacienca CC was the worst, and when they had live music, it was unbearable. Then we went to the Texas Roadhouse with about ten of our neighbors, and the noise was so bad I am sure it is intentional. Food was good, but the ambiance was terrible. Haven't been back.

tophcfa 08-25-2019 08:30 AM

Gators Dockside in Spanish Springs during a Patriots game. But it's good noise and lots of fun : )

One vote for the Flying Biscuit at LSL. Agree?

Skip

pacjag 08-25-2019 12:15 PM

I don’t know if it is for aesthetics or to save money, but most restaurants today have hard floors no real ceilings. The result is no sound deadening at all. The sound just bounces around, people talk a little louder to be heard over it, and before you know it everyone is almost yelling just to be heard over the background. Nicer and smaller restaurants put in carpeting and a ceiling with acoustic tiles to combat this.

Aloha1 08-25-2019 03:35 PM

A couple years ago, my wife and I were dining at a Country Club restaurant (I won't name it cause we still go there), I remarked that the noise from all the patrons sounded like the noise of birds when they are settling into the trees at dusk. Must be the birds version of happy hour.

Haven"t been there yet. Noise aside, how was the food?

It is basically a 120 way tie for first! :a040:

Velvet 08-25-2019 04:33 PM

We were at the Lighthouse outside. The waitress yelled the menu so loud to the next table that I almost fell off my chair. It took me awhile to realize why.

Next time we bring AirPods to communicate or Bose sound cancelling ear buds.

I would have said Chili’s but I haven’t been to all those other restaurants.

Yes, and add alcohol and it gets worse.

justjim 08-26-2019 06:29 PM

All are noisy

Villagers love to eat out and that is an understatement. Noise is high in all restaurants in The Villages and, thus a 120 tie sounds about right. We recently ate at Bonefish and it was very noisy. They try to crowd too many patrons into available space with little or no thought given to insulating sound. A large group will always guarantee too much noise with the only “fun” being within the large group. Unfortunately, there are few individual rooms in any of the restaurants to handle a medium to large group.
