Golf outside the villages

Have played all the courses near the villages, including Ocala, Citrus Hills, Brooksville.

Looking to play an exceptional nice course for a special treat, willing to travel 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Any recommendations.

Both courses at Mission Inn are very nice.

TPC Sawgrass is worth the trip. And you can make it a 2 or 3 day trip and also play both courses there plus the courses at World Golf Hall of Fame. They keep them all in excellent condition. Make it a really special treat.

Streamsong would be my second choice.

I played Mission Inn last year. Was not impressed

Already played Mission Inn, Red Tail in Mt. Dora.

Orange County National is worth checking out

Have you tried Juliette Falls in Dunellon? I played it about 18 months ago and the conditions were great, the course conditions were perfect and the layout was the best I've played in Central Florida. It's less than an hour West of The Villages.

Better make sure your side hill lie game is working. There is not a level lie anyplace on that course. The ball is always above or below your stance.

Candler Hills or Stone Creek. Black Bear in Eustis. Orange National near Disney. Any of the Disney courses.

Haven't played it yet, but Streamsong has 2 courses that are very highly rated. Built over quarry lands and pretty expensive.

rjn5656 11-12-2019 08:11 PM

Played Juliet Falls many times.

rjn5656 11-12-2019 08:14 PM

Played them all except Orange County.

How right you are! You have to hit the high side of the fairway to have it end up, at best, in the center. I've played a lot of courses and never have played one like Bella Collina.
