Why is Live PD the most watched series on Television.
I enjoy watching it for many reasons;
One is that Police Officers usually maintain and practice a certain defined way of speaking to people that is overall respectful, i.e, they don't refer to people who are crooks as anything but gentlemen and females...which I find interesting and refreshing. Do you like Live P.D.??? If so, why? If not. Why not? |
I find it annoying that there is a delay in the broadcast so the department can correct any errors.

I love it when they let the dogs loose.

My wife and I love it because it's a way to re-live our careers.

I've not gotten "into" watching this particular show but like to watch other true-crime ones. The live ones have an element about them that don't hold my interest for some reason.
|
Dunno. People must have dull and boring lives and look to the tube to enliven them.
|
I watched it once but real life is often a lot slower than a documentary. Like the high school shooting that took place 2 days ago in California, HNL showed it all day and practically nothing else. I was reading the newspapers so just forgot to turn off the set.
|
It's popular because people are looking to see if their neighbors or family members or fellow posters finally got popped!
I've never seen it yet! I'll give it a shot now. |

I do other stuff.

I always liked seeing the "GOOD GUYS" win. It doesn't happen too much in real life anymore.

Those are nice paintings, GG. Painting is relaxing and enjoyable. Some of my grandmother's and aunt's paintings hang in my house. Why would I say that? Personally I do not watch much TV as most shows are geared to the mass market, a 9th grade level audience. Producers want the largest possible numbers of viewers to make the most money. As for cop shows, I have personally experienced enough crime in Albuquerque, where many of the early COP shows as well as the Breaking Bad series were filmed, to last me a lifetime. I would rather read. It is a matter of how one chooses to spend one's time. |

When there is no football games that I want to watch, we usually have on the ID Channel on Directv channel 285. It's true crime stories all day, reenactment shows, Joe Kenda, 48 Hours, Dateline, 20/20, and many made for the ID Channel. Because of the threads on this show I watched Live PD last weekend and some this week. It's sort of like Cops show 30 years ago, except that was recorded and was all in one city, Ft. Lauderdale initially. With many different cities and live with a studio host, I find this is a little more interesting. I still don't care for the domestic disturbance scenes, but most of the other scenes are interesting and it breaks up watching reenactments all day.

When my blonde nurse friend was dating a fed they watched a lot of these true crime shows to pass the time. Sounds kind of boring to me.

Of course you realize that we are not the demographic they are looking for and the target demographic is all the matters. We don't buy what they advertise so we are dead to them. Of course our parents thought what we watched was inane and a waste of time. As with everything, it's all about the money.

Never even heard of this show. Looked at the Wikipedia link provided and immediately saw it was listed as a reality show. I find that reality TV programs seem to be very far from my idea of reality so I avoid them.
|
I enjoy reading in the evening and like to have an interesting TV show going in the background as I read. Sports are good for this, especially baseball which can be boring with intermittent exciting plays. The best "reality" TV show for this is Live PD. It has lots of mundane police encounters with an occasional chase scene or take-down. I really like the hosts, including Dan Abrams, despite his left leaning reporting for ABC News. Host Sticks Larkin is a hoot.

I watch it looking for my wife’s family members.

Live PD is on several nights a week on A&E and follows law enforcement officers as they answer actual calls in 12 different counties in the U.S. More than half of police forces in this country wear body cameras and have cameras in their police cars. It was and is an eye opener for me how values and attitudes have changed in this country. |
I’ve never watched it and have no idea, but is it really the most watched series on television? I have no basis for doubting, it would just be surprising to me. :)
And as far as “reality tv” goes, from what I’ve read and heard about the show, I would never include Live PD in any category that includes trash like The Kardashians and that ilk. |

While the calls are real, how can a police officer be on anything but best behavior knowing what he or she knows ? Anything BUT reality. That is not a critique of our hard working police, but simply a statement of fact. |

It is on this week; on WEdnesday and every week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at nine (A&E)and there are 12 police agencies in New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Nevada, Montana,Florida, and I can't remember the other two. They answer calls and the police officers are recorded. On Thursday it is only the camera's worn by police officers or in their cars. The rest of the time they have live photographers who ride with them. Please open this. live pd - Bing video Dan Abrams is the person at the studio along with Tom Morris and Sgt. Sean Larson. They do not allow people to see anyone dying or being shot as it is delayed a bit for that reason. They can go from place to place to keep it not violent, but very interesting. |

The premise is the same as the older show called COPS which was also interesting, and I am not belittling the show or anything....I just do not like what are called REALITY shows because the participants know the camera is "in the room" have make up on and know the rules. But that is just me.......just does not seem real to me at all. |
I really like reality posting. Beats being a Nudge! No Link available. Not directed at anyone or any group or any Village! :1rotfl: This show is fantastic. Period!
