Disney World Buys 235 Acres

Disney World just bought 235 acres on its West side for an unpublished reason. Could they be developing a buffer against intrusion by The Villages?

Bay Kid 12-30-2019 08:08 AM

New golf cart parking lot for Villagers.

Ashley from UK 12-30-2019 09:43 AM

Great. I had my first house to the west, except the deveoper didn't build any of the 695 homes he took deposits on.. so he is now in jail for fraud :-)

Looks like they have just bought my house... but I like the idea of a TV Golf cart park.

Nope! Disney welcomes those who can afford their ticket prices. :welcome:

Perhaps seeking to unite with the Villages rather than divide from! Unification - a unique idea - no? Will hopefully have charging stations for electric carts as well a gas pumps for others and a monorail/tram to the main campus! :)

Another Costco at last!

Disney Expansion Rumor

OK, so according to my landscaper's Sister who heard it from her hairdresser while shopping at the Meat market on 301, it’s for the monorail connecting to Brownwood.

See link, it's next to current Disney property.
Disney World buys 235 acres - here's what we know - News - The Ledger - Lakeland, FL

The Villages is 60 miles or more from Orlando. What interest would TV have 60+ miles away

Per the link, here's the per acre costs...of their recent purchases.

- 235 acres for $6M = $25,532 per acre

- 1,575 acres for $11M = $6,984 per acre

- 965 acres for $23M = $23,834 per acre

It will be interesting to see what they eventually do...with the extra land.

The post reads, " Disney" bought property on the west side of "Disney"! That is 50 miles east of the Villages. I don't understand how everyone is making comments about the Villages in relation to this. I wouldn't think it has anything to do with "The Villages". Unless someone can offer facts that directly connect the two properties somehow!

I think most of the comments are just a tad tongue in cheek

It's way too early folks. Will be years before TV gets over and down to Disney. They are still in negotiations with landowners in the way. We will all be long dead before the monorail for carrying golf carts are in place. Let your great, great, grandkids worry about it.

Sherrilee 12-31-2019 10:00 AM

I read months ago Disney was going to build another park right next door .

Maybe the same interest when they said Fenney was it, no more! Now look, never say never.

Only question...……… will the golf cart gate enter the magic kingdom or epcot ???

Lol

It is a joke people! Lighten up. It just a play on how much The Villages is expanding.

Doesn't matter, someone will just knock it down anyway! LOL

jenistaf 12-31-2019 01:04 PM

I wasn't supposed to reveal this information, but...

This is Disney's desperate effort to protect itself from the inevitable southward expansion of TV. Disney strategists now understand that such pre-emptive action is essential if they are to fend off TV's eventual amoeba-like absorption of the entire Disney FL empire.

MorTech 12-31-2019 08:40 PM

I heard that Raul Castro was buying up land in Key West in an attempt to stop TV from building a golf cart bridge to Havana.

stadalberts 12-31-2019 09:16 PM

Exactly!

Starfire 12-31-2019 11:34 PM

The biggest question of this topic should be....

Will Disney buyout The Villages in 2050, or will The Villages buyout Disney?

Bridget, why interest do they have going any further south. there's no Village downtowns, Rec. centers. Disney would have a lot of interest in TV, called money.

I agree, but where we lived near Bonifay C.C. we were 10 miles from Fenney so that makes us 10 miles closer to Disney. Now I hear TV is going to build 60,000 more homes on south. That'll make TV 10, 15, 20 miles closer. But I do agree we'll be dead & gone before it gets within walking distant's.

Funniest thread I've read all month! Happy New Year!

rwfisher1969 01-01-2020 03:06 PM

How can that happen if the world is flat? lol

Chi-Town 01-01-2020 05:04 PM

Magic Kingdom is under 150 acres and smallest of the parks. They had to turn people away yesterday. So perhaps it's time for a new home.
