choosing cell phone plan

I would appreciate input on choosing a cell phone plan for unlocked S10e.

I would recommend to use Verizon.

JGVillages 02-17-2020 11:55 AM

Cricket Wireless. No contract.

The Verizon cell network is always rated as the best of the 4 nationwide networks. So, that is the only network I would use. But, there are several cell services that use the Verizon network. If you have Xfinity as your internet provider, then I think the Xfinity Mobile cell service is a real bargain. It costs about $14 per GB of mobile data and you get unlimited talk and text. My monthly bill is about $14 because I always use less than 1 GB of data. There are also unlimited data plans.

Mint Mobile. $15 per month prepaid for unlimited talk and text and 3 GBytes of data. Higher data plans are also available if you needed more. They also have good deals if you travel outside the country.

If you are an xfinity customer at your home consider, adding xfinity mobil. I reluctantly changed to xfinity mobil recently after being a very long time Verizon customer, and do not regret making the change. Xfinity uses the same towers as Verizon so you have the same coverage. My new xfinity mobil account charges $45 per month for unlimited calling, text, and data. They throttle down the speed of data after 20 gigs, but that is a lot of data. Xfinity also has mobil wifi hotspots located in many places. I was paying $60 per month with Verizon and was limited to only 1 gig of data.

What if you just want to talk?....I don't text.....It's annoying...my personal preference

If u have xfinity service, that is the best way to go

dewilson58 02-17-2020 01:59 PM

Verizon has a "senior" rate.

In today's market, talk and text go together. I don't think you will save any money by looking for a "talk only" service. Xfinity Mobile only charges $14 per month for 1 GB of mobile data. But, with that, you get unlimited talk and text. So, you can talk all you want for $14 per month.

I also switched to Xfinity, same service that I had with Verizon since they use Verizon Towers, went from $110 per month with Verizon to my highest bill for 2 lines has been $28, they charge $12 per gig of data, have never regretted switching!!!!!!

I have had metro pc for the past 2 years without a problem. it is a flat 30 bucks a month for unlimited blah blah and txt etc. using Verizon and at&t towers. give it a try, you'll like it

JohnTOTV 02-18-2020 08:00 AM

Sprint sucks - lousy and spotty coverage!

jandkindy 02-18-2020 09:05 AM

We dropped Verizon 6 years ago because we were paying $120+/mo. for my wife and I plus we were on contract. Went with Consumer Cellular. We now pay $56/mo with 10 gig data ...we normally use 6 or 7 gig/mo. no contract used at&t network. We could lower the bill by choosing less data plan, but with a smart phone like you have I'm sure you want to take advantage of it.

You should look at Consumer Cellular. You can choose to use either AT&T or T-Mobile towers. No contract, great rates, excellent customer service.

I have only a flip-phone and a home phone currently. I use the AT&T prepaid Go Phone plan for my cell phone for about ten years, it's only a $100 a year for a 1000 minutes, I have close to 3,000 minutes rolled over. I'm not a big user of the phone, but I have thought about getting a smart phone.

Looking at this plan, it seems to be similar to what I have except it's a smart phone version. They have many phones on the Mint Mobile site, what would you recommend for an occasional user. I might do away with my home phone if I get a smart phone.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a smart phone then I would recommend an iPhone 6s for $169. It should be a new-in-box from Mint Mobile and while it is a several year old model it should serve you well. I have a an iPhone 6s and will keep it for several more years.

I went to Consumer Cellular & dropped Verison. C.C. was 10 times cheaper than Verison & never ever had a dropped call. Verison we had to stand in the street to call or talk. In the house we sometimes could get a good connection but 95% of the time we would get dropped. We went to Verison & complained & they said no towers near & we are going to put more towers up in the Charlotte area. 3 yrs. later still getting dropped calls. They also quoted me a price & swore it would be this exact price, tax & everything, liars. I got the same song & dance on 3 new phones I got over the yrs. same thing 30 to $45. higher than they swore by. Consumer Cellular was $35. a month & 5 yrs. later $35. a month still. Plus I got more talk mins. text & data. Verison it cost more to get the same thing. Now where I live not in TV, I got on our grandsons plan with T-Mobil & my wife & I get unlimited everything including DATA for $23. each of us so it cost me $46. a month. I know for a fact Verison costumers can't say that & not even Consumer Cellular. But I've got admit T-Mobil sucks in the north where we come from, Ohio. So I would say check out Consumer Cellular. No Contract, no hidden fees with NO surprises when you get your bill. Also if you have it a month & you don't like them, cancel & there's NO penalty. Nothing wrong with Verizon but very expensive & personally I don't think they work with their costumers! I just wouldn't get T-Mobil in TV unless you know someone that has it & see what they say. Hope this helps, sorry Verizon costumers!
