parking at Sharon Morse
Sharon Morris building should provide a golf cart transport in the parking area. people going into the building for Dr's , pt, chemo, find it difficult to park and walk all the way to the building.
the hospital has this service and one of the drivers told me they can no longer go to Sharon Morris. |

They still have it

I am familiar with this situation, past and present.
A golf cart shuttle was provided at the Sharon Morse building by Lake Medical Imaging (LMI). That service ended on Dec. 31, 2019 because The Villages Property Management Department declared that the LMI shuttle cart could no longer drive in TV parking lots. The hospital has several carts to shuttle hospital visitors. They normally go between the hospital front entrance and the hospital visitor parking lot. Occasionally, they would take people from the hospital front entrance to the Sharon Morse building and to The Villages Health Specialty Center. The Villages Property Management declared that beginning Jan. 1, 2020, the hospital carts can no longer drive in TV parking lots. Therefore, the hospital carts can't go to Sharon Morse or the Specialty Center. The hospital shuttle carts now can only drive on hospital-owned property, which is the hospital visitor parking lot and the hospital front entrance. They can drive on Clemente Ct which connects the visitor parking lot and the front entrance. |
Why not make a phone call and ask?
|
The front desk in the Florida Cancer Ctr gave me a number to call. I called and they said they had to transfer me and no one answered.

I golf with a guy who drives the shuttle golf cart for TV Hospital. He said when the new owners of TV Hospital took over, they stopped the shuttle to the Sharon Morris Building because of insurance issues...coverage doesn't extend to off the hospital property. It doesn't have anything to do with the developer or TV not letting the carts on their property, but has to do with the liability insurance the new hospital owners carry.

I believe it was recently discontinued. I was there on Monday and had to park at the bank, which was closed because it was Washington's Birthday. I don't have a problem walking but feel for the people who need help.
|
First of all, its Sharon Morse, not Morris. I don't understand how anyone can live here and not know this. Especially because Morse Blvd runs from 441 to below 44. Read up on Harold Schwartz and Gary Morse sometime, great visionists/developers and the reason you probably moved here.
As for the cart service ending, my guess would be that its because the Hospital is no longer owned by The Villages, its owned by Florida Health now. |
Parking is difficult in ALL of that area! The Specialty Clinic too has issues. I have a mobility problem and many times have to find a spot clear out from the building which makes it difficult. I was told that hospital employees and visitors park there. I don't know what the remedy would be but it's too bad there's not a shuttle service like the hospital has. Hopefully when the new Specialty Clinic opens it will take "some" of the burden off of the "north campus".

I am so over The Villages. They're no no longer the friendliest hometown. I was in excruciating pain last week and had to walk from the Citizen's Bank to Sharon Morse. I guess our 25% tax increase only covers roads for the developer.

What does the tax increase have to do with your walking? |
I thought they already did provide transportation?

No longer they provide any shuttle service, took effect on 1/1/2020, no longer allowing shuttle (hospital or Lake Imaging) in the Villages parking lots, Hospital still runs their carts but to Hospital owned property ONLY!!!!

I will probably be pilloried for this, but WHY DO YOU EVENT EXPECT THIS TRANSPORTATION?
Tell me please ................. did you get golf cart transportation on hospital parking lots where you came from? Because if you did you were very lucky indeed. I cam from Boston and if I had to be at one of the major hospitals in Boston you could not even park, you drive around for hours looking for parking, let alone have someone come and give you concierge service to get from your car into the hospital; and when we retired into NH there was no parking help even in a snow storm. For goodness sake, when you moved here all you purchased was a house, no where in my deed does it say that they will be your personal chauffeur. If one needs help getting in and out of the hospital perhaps you should think about assisted living where this service is provided. I know someone who runs a personal taxi service, she will drop you right at the door and pick you up. I am so done with people continually complaining. |
I said ti when they were building it and I still believe that it true. It's too small and it's in the wrong place.
|
Incredibly stuoid as is the zoning that did not take into account the correct amount of car parking needed.

Today I dropped my husband off at 10:30 for radiation and could not find any parking; not even at the bank. I parked at Baskin Robbins. Why do I expect shuttle service ? Because this is a senior community and everyone may not have someone to drive them and they are not capable to walk that far. Also I expect ANY business to have adequate parking for those they service.

I fully understand your frustration, my husband has had three major surgeries there and I have walked from one end of the parking area to the other to get to him. I have actually crossed into the Publix parking space and walked all the way back to see him. |

Perrjojo is describing her husband's radiation treatment inside the Sharon Morse building. Of course that building, and the parking outside it, is owned by TV. However, TV declared that the shuttle cart, which had been provided by Lake Medical Imaging (also inside Sharon Morse), can't operate in their parking areas. |

The shuttle is no longer allowed to go to the Sharon Morris Building. This is a liability issue as the Hospital and the Sharon Morris Building have different owners. The shuttle only runs between the Emergency, Main and Advanced entrances and the main visitors parking lot. There is one exceptions for one of the Imaging Offices close to the Sharon Morris.

Maybe once the specialty clinic in Brownwood opens it will take some of the edge off from these places. As to the person who asked if "up north" a shuttle was offered. My response to that was "yes!" You drove up to the hospital and and gave the key to a gentleman and he parked for you...much like they do here at our hospital...AND it was free!! It was a welcomed service for folks who had mobility issues. I posted in this thread before and agree it is troublesome. At one time they had a parking lot across 441/27 and shuttled folks over---not sure if that's happening anymore but it's a thought that "they" should re-consider if it's not being done now.
