Interesting. I always thought it was pretty safe around here, but you[ve got to keep aware anywhere these days

In spite of the facts, and like so many other things where facts show differently, a lot of people will still simply refuse to believe...that overall crime in America has went down in the last 25 years.
We may even hear from some of them...in this thread. Nuttin' but da facts ma'am. (stick'em up here) Quote:

It appears crime has fallen in Wildood. Wildwood FL Crime Rate 2005-2018 | MacroTrends
Lady Lake. Lady Lake FL Crime Rate 1999-2018 | MacroTrends and Fruitland Park. Fruitland Park FL Crime Rate 2005-2018 | MacroTrends The fact is crime has not fallen everywhere in the US. Albuquerque NM Crime Rate 2003-2018 | MacroTrends |

Victims do not bother to report many crimes that they used to report years ago. The police don't care, don't show or if they do show up they blow it off. At least that is what I hear from many crime victims. Also in many jurisdictions a de facto catch and release program is in effect. Few criminals end up spending time in the slammer anymore. It is a mess as crime pays these days.
|
Also, hingest % of retired military, LEO's--lots of gun owners in TV --got to be nuts , to go nuts

The same statement applies...to the entire 25 year period. Or did you think that people only started not reporting crimes...just since 1993? |

Thanks for the info! I will share info with others.

brat, was thinking the same,,, also fl's experienced a large drop since easing carry restrictions,,, except near intl airports of course
always shake my head when entering anyplace that posts 'no weapons allowed' signs as i wonder how many miscreants can read & follow directions,,, have to admit i don't cc as often as when in atl |
I knew it was safe here. We all WATCH out for each other. It is a very good place to live. We came here with morals and values. I love to live here.
You knew that. It's another beautiful day in The Villages. Good for US. |

Thanks for that info. Yet another great reason to live here!

I suspect the rate would be even lower if the Villages MSA only included The Villages.
|
as the villages population expands in sumter county will the crime rate move up closer to orlando/jacksonville rates or are seniors more law abiding than the general population
|
Yes, older people have been there and done that got it out of our system for the most part. Now its just feels better to be law abiding.
|
As testosterone levels drop (violent) crime rates drop, IMHO.
Also many druggies die before they can grow old so they are not out stealing, burglarizing and robbing for their next fixes. Some druggie or otherwise problem adult children having criminal histories and habits of course are living in TV in their parents' homes. |
Now if we could get those golf cart speeders to slow down.... We'd really be safe

The crime rates apply to that part of the Villages within Sumter County and Sumter itself.
VIOLENT CRIMES: 305 MURDER & NONNEGLIGENT MANSLAUGHTER: 6 RAPE: 24 ROBBERY: 24 AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: 251 PROPERTY CRIMES: 1,158 BURGLARIES: 310 THEFTS: 782 MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS:66 |
while some of the info presented may be true, i think it has a lot to do with location, some are simply more crime-ridden. not much we can do about that, really, except move. i know where we came from 'up north' we had much more significant crime in the area of gang activity & armed robberies. i expect we won't see much of that here, an occasional offense, but NOTHING like some less fortunate regions where crime is a way of life
