House Disinfection

With all that is going on I had my house totally disinfected and sanitized. They disinfected everything. Light switches, door handles, bathrooms, counters, anything we touch. I highly recommend. Their number is 352-433-3408.

Who are "they?"

EdFNJ 03-23-2020 05:06 PM

Unless you have an underlying illness to be concerned about it seems to be a bit overkill considering the next time you use the bathroom, open a door or touch something outside your house or circulate your air with A/C then come back in it and touch anything inside it will be un-dis-infected again but if it gives one comfort and peace of mind than it is well worth it. That's most important.

I Googled the phone number and got: THIS

Marathon Man 03-23-2020 05:38 PM

Here is another idea. Don't invite strangers into your house.

I'm confused. How is that any different from the guy at Publix wiping off the grocery cart handle. It seems like you could do that yourself in an hour or so without having strangers come into your house and charging you money?

Sallie1740 03-24-2020 06:17 AM

Why not make your own sanitizer ? It is simple to make a bucket of sanitizer with clorox and water. Clean your house with it,and dont bring in people who could get you sick.

Rosebud1949 03-24-2020 06:17 AM

We all have so much time on our hands, lets clean our own houses... a little at a time, take care when you have to go out to shop, and then we can beat this virus Letting folk into your house when they have been in others doing the same, however careful is too risky

cindyfeh 03-24-2020 06:26 AM

You just resorts those places.

So I work for a Surgery Center and I've been told that the most effective homemade hand sanitizer is rubbing alcohol and aloe. I went and bought 70% rubbing alcohol and the aloe that you put on sunburns and put it in a bottle 30% aloe and 70% alcohol and your good.

cindyfeh 03-24-2020 06:31 AM

“re - spray”

Was someone in your home ill? Why did you feel it necessary to "sanitize" it?

Byte1 03-24-2020 07:09 AM

I found that disinfecting at the source is much more efficient, so I drink plenty of alcohol.

Eg_cruz 03-24-2020 07:12 AM

If you are using 70% it should be 1/4 aloe 2/4 alcohol.....if using 91% or higher 1/3 aloe 2/3 alcohol. The goal is 63% alcohol once mixed. Is what I have read.

MIskra 03-24-2020 07:25 AM

Several months ago I had scheduled our annual tile/grout cleaning. I called and cancelled because I was concerned about coming in contact with strangers, especially ones who are going from house to house touching everyone's dirty surfaces and then dragging their equipment through my house. Figured it wasn't that important and it's something that I can reschedule for another time. My house is my safe zone. I want to keep it that way as long as possible.

That's what I was thinking. And why would anyone need someone to do this. I just mixed a little bleach with water and prayed it on everything. Since almost no one has been in my house for a few weeks I don't see the need to do this all the time. When Jenny comes home from work everyday, the first thing that I do is wipe down every thing that she touches on her way in and she washes her hands. This thing has been going on for a month now and I've been self isolating with a few exception. When I do go out, I carry alcohol wipes and wipe down my hands. Since I don't seem to have contracted the virus I feel that my house is pretty safe without having to hire someone to disinfect it.

Juliebythesea 03-24-2020 08:01 AM

Hahahahahaha

chrisinva 03-24-2020 08:06 AM

Same here. We had Custom Home Closets scheduled for a master closet install in late March. It's a much needed transformation of our basic m. closet. Requested a delay of the install till we call them & they easily agreed & understood. They've got our down payment already; I won't forget to reschedule when this health crisis is over.

justjim 03-24-2020 08:30 AM

Thanks OP for the information in case someone on TOTV would like to do the same. There could be some in TV unable to completely sanitize their home. There are always lots of thoughts and opinions on TOTV.

I did the same thing to my house using 75% isopropyl alcohol. I did all of the above including all the handles and cabinet knobs.

Enid Solomon 03-24-2020 09:10 AM

what is the name of the company you used to do the cleaning and sanitizing?

tfa4755 03-24-2020 09:19 AM

I agree

Margterrymcg 03-24-2020 09:56 AM

You had people you don’t know or where they’ve been to disinfect your home where you know who has been there and where they’ve been

singnsmile 03-24-2020 10:13 AM

Disinfecting company used

What was the name of the company and if you don't mind, what did it cost you and the size of your home? Thanks

nevjudbaker 03-24-2020 10:50 AM

Thank you. My husband had me buy the rubbing alcohol & aloe but I didn't know the amount of each to mix. Very informative. I have been using bleach and water for cleaning for years. They say vinegar and water is good as well.

DeafDeaf 03-24-2020 11:13 AM

No matter whatever you try, try, and try - don't forget your shoes, car steering wheels, door handles, dog leash, golf club handles, paddle handles, and so forth. Oy Vey!

Hmm infecting at the source. Good one. Alcohol in wine or something better??????

TandHSTAR@AOL.com 03-24-2020 11:52 AM

I agree. For now I asked my cleaning to be on hold. Only because I did not know house they cleaned before. They can disinfect top to bottom as long as you never keave your house. That includes going outside. But if it makes you feel better then it was money well spent

Nancy@Pinellas 03-24-2020 02:45 PM

Don’t you just live it after the tile and grout people are done? It makes the whole house shine!

Indydealmaker 03-24-2020 03:16 PM

Why the unnecessary criticism? I'll bet the biggest skeptics here are the ones that were crowding the pools and/or standing shoulder to shoulder in the deli lines. Lighten up.

It is a married couple (Jodi & Steve) and their business name is A GIRL, A GUY AND A MOP, INC. I have used them to deep clean the house a few times. We have a four bedroom (Orchid model) house that the county says is just under 2000 sq ft. For us it was $95.

They use an industrial disinfectant that the label says is environmentally safe and pet friendly.

Their number is 352-433-3408.

Seabee 03-25-2020 02:37 AM

Why ? My wife and I are the only ones here and we're not sick. I'll use my money elsewhere and keep the strangers out of my house ! As others have said, it only takes a minute to brings germs back into the house. Can't afford to do That every day :-)

HimandMe 03-25-2020 08:01 PM

We were told when you come inside don’t sit down but go straight to the bathroom and shower also washing your hair.. Immediately wash your clothes. When out be extra careful not to touch any metal surfaces as it lives up to 9 days on metal. Gas pumps-wear plastic on your hands.
