Internet Service
We will be moving to the villages mid April. Trying to get all our utilities set up. Who are the best for internet. We only want internet no cable etc. Any feedback would be appreciated. Stay safe

Which Village? It matters because some vendors are only available in certain areas.

Comcast services most of the Villages. If your looking for highest speed they are the best. If your looking for cheap you will want to look elsewhere.

I've heard Spectrum is pretty good. Comcast/Xfinity Internet is not as reliable in The Villages as it was up north, but it's still a decent deal (around $50/month for 100mbps for up to 5 devices simutaneously, not including modem rental, which I recommend you buy, not rent).
There are others, and they all depend on your exact location. Unfortunately the Villages is not technologically up to date; most places still don't even accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay at the cash registers yet. |
Call the villages sales office, they should be able to tell you who provides internet in your area, otherwise as noted above, tell us which village you are moving into.

Thanks. Will be in Santa Domingo

I suggest SPECTRUM. They all use similar and sometimes the same hardware, but I have been impressed with Spectrum (used to be Brighthouse) customer service. Most problems are fixed over the phone quickly, and if not a tech was sent in relatively short period of time.
|
I use Xfinity by Comcast. I pay $29.99 a month for 25 mps. That’s plenty for streaming.

We are very happy with Spectrum, but they are not available in all villages.

I live in Monarch Village. I have had Spectrum since I moved to Florida 2017. I work from home. I have had no issues with spectrum, very fast. And when you call you are taken care of fast. However at this time they are swamped. But we moved in sat 3/21 and they came out to set us up. Rates will very for what you want.

They're both costly - continually raising prices

We have CenturyLink for internet only as we have Direct TV because we throw our boxes in our motorhome during summer travels. Ours is $45 month period for life (or as long as we have it) no other taxes or anything. I believe it's gone up to $49.00 a month flat fee for life;never had a problem.

We moved here almost two months ago and are using Comcast (Xfinity) and internet working well. Not as thrilled with their cable service but dealing with it.

Xfinity

We also just moved to the Villages. I carefully checked all the service providers and their plans As well as customer reviews. We decided on Xfinity (25 MBs) at $20 per month for first year. ($30.00 per month if you don’t set up autopay). We Bought our own modem/wireless router from Bestbuy which is right behind the Xfinity store on 441 (xfinity provides a list of compatible ones). Otherwise you will need to rent one for $14.99 per month vs $220 to purchase. We also bought an LG smart TV and when we got it set up and connected to the internet we were delighted to see all the included apps on the tv. It has a “free tv station app” that has loads of channels so we can get our news fix and view other shows. So far the internet service has been flawless and signal is very strong. Good luck, hope this helps. |
Centurylink is very good. We use youtubeTv streaming for Tv better than direct tv.

Comcast is best for internet

We have Century Link also same as mentioned above for $45 for life and no problems. Plenty of speed for multiple TVs using You Tube TV.

We went with spectrum. Also we are streaming using U tube TV. This gives you local channels and a decent selection of other channels plus ability to tape shows without extra equipment
|
Spectrum if you're in their area or Comcast. Century Link usually has 2-year specials.
|
No, that is not really correct. CenturyLink typically (exclusively ??) has a "one price for life" pricing structure. As long as you don't change your service, the price will not change. For example, ours is $45 per month including all taxes and fees and doesn't change.
