Restaurant safety
With so many restaurants offering "takeout" and delivery, what are they doing to assure customers that ALL food handlers are virus free?
What safety / sanitation measures are they imposing on ALL food handlers? Have ALL food handlers been tested for the virus? |
Testing is not available to everyone. So, would you shut down all of the take out and delivery services? Would you stop the grocery stores from selling prepared foods like roasted chickens, ground beef, etc.?
|
I guess if you’re uncomfortable with trusting restaurants to do the best they can, best to prepare meals at home.
As for testing ALL food handlers, that’s not proving anything. One can be negative today and encounter a customer with the virus and POOF you’re positive in a few days. Everyone is apprehensive but one does have to practice a little trust. |

What on earth do you expect people to do ? Have a minute by minute test or be in a bubble. C'mon get real, honestly. Suggestion for you carry a can of " Raid " Lemon Scent. :faint: |

Wonder all the time about this. Wipe off the handle of the shopping cart then touch every can, bottle, jar, box and bag in the store. Of course none of those have been touched by anyone else, they put themselves on the shelf. Then pull wallet out of you highly sanitized purse that never touches the ground and is cleaned daily. Logic is very lacking in most peoples daily lives.

won't have to worry about it much longer,,, other than chinese & pizza, most restaurants can't survive on carry-out

Stop listening to the news 24/7. It makes you crazy and heightens your fears. Your take-out food is fine. Open it up, put the food on your plate and the containers in the garbage, and wash your hands before you eat. You should be doing this anyway every time you get take out!!
|
Don’t shoot the messenger. I just asked the question.
Let’s see how you feel 1month from now or when the first restaurant admits that a worker has the virus. |
My thoughts exactly. Who is handling the food ? Is the board of health checking for hair nets, gloved personal, mouth covered with proper masks ? I doubt it very much. As for me since this whole virus started; and prior, my wife and I cooked our meals at our home and very rarely ate out in the first place. It’s much safer that way. For those who don’t cook, since there isn’t much one can do now, it’s a perfect opportunity to google a receipt, whether it be a dinner or dessert and try it, it’s easy, fun and cost effective rather than ordering out the same old foods.

Feed your own face.

That has been concerned me! I still do not trust such take-out orders because you may not re-cook the cooked items! I prefer buying food from groceries and cook them to be safe. Once I get out of the store and get into the car or cart, I washed my hands with hand sanitizer however it does not clean my soles! Ugh!
|
Take your food and dump on a plate trying not to touch the packing. Microwave to heat ( get hot foods vs salads ) and wash hands good. You should be safe. The microwave should kill any germs ( so they say)

Think of all the first responders, and healthcare staff that have used their NP for 9 days straight. You can not order food from a restaurant if you are AFRAID. Medical Staff do not have a choice. So your worry about restaurant staff is a nothing compared to the everyday life of every health care worker, and their families |
it is clear we cannot all live in an isolated, sterile world. all we can do is the best we know how. i refuse to live my daily life in fear of some disease crippling me, but yes, i'm still following all the directives. some of it is way over the top, but hopefully will soon be over
|
Your right. We can't live in a isolation booth. The random terror of this virus will eventually create a strong paranoia.

Meanwhile my Take Out from Havana last night was fantastic had the Lamb Shank. Legacy tonight I prefer pick up as opposed to delivery hey my choice. |
If and when this pandemic ends, I think the restaurant business will be permanently changed. I hope for the better. Hopefully, seats will be farther apart, the restaurants will be cleaner, and employees will be better screened, trained, and paid. Otherwise, many restaurants will probably need to close.

Is it safe to eat take out food at ANY place serving it in The Villages? Easy Question. Not normally a Germaphobe but come on what is needed is a straight answer. I'm not sure but isn't it a Yes or No reply? Not try it and hope for the best or compare it to passing someone who is sick in The Grocery Store. |
Anyone seriously concerned...and we all should be...will want to sanitize all the groceries you bring home. Probably should do it in the garage. Things that can't be wiped down should be dumped into clean storage containers and stored that way. The grocery is a prime avenue for bringing the virus into your home. This sounds extreme? Yes. But at what point do you stop being protective? Outside shoes left in the garage. Practice sterile technique, and if you don't know it, google it. Cases will be ramping up exponentially for a while, so now is the time to be paranoid folks.

Just another thought every time, you venture out the odds change ,why wouldn't a stranger cooking and or delivering a food item to your residence not change the odds-- stay home & cook for two weeks
