Where is best place to get new grips on my clubs...and what did they charge you?

The Sarasota Custom Club Shop currently is not doing regripping; Edwin Watts and Golf Central has been closed a couple of weeks.

Some of the other no-name places may be not following any health warnings and could be continuing to do them - at their own risk.

Remember a Poster named Rubicon? Very Nice Person I thought. He told me people in The Villages are so cheap that they end up having their Ball Retriever Re-Gripped at least once a year or more in some cases @ the store that is now Edwin Watts.

Edwin Watts and Golf Central have both been closed for at least a couple of weeks.

I buy them from Golfpride.com and regrip the clubs myself, very simple process...

I buy Karma on eBay, you get a full set of grips, tape, solvent and a vice for around 30. They are similar to the GP tour velvet And last me about a season and that’s around 120 rounds. It’s easy installing your own grip but a royal p.i..a Getting the old ones off. Pm me if you want advice, you should have time on your hands anyway

Can also go to Dicks Sporting Goods. If your a member of their rewards program, you buy the grips and they put them on for free. Not sure how price compares to others. Good luck!

Sarasota golf shop does a good quick job, but they’re not open now. Be sure whoever does it removes old tape before putting new on.

Trying to install your own grips can become a nightmare, if you don't get it install all the way on the first try you will have to cut out, it will not budge in or out no mater how hard you try.
By the time you pay for the grips and the shipping you are better of going to a local business and have them install then.
The golf shop on CR-466 just east of Morse Blvd. is good place to try. (Golf Pride tour wrap is provably the best grip for the money)

I do mine. Usually find good prices on Amazon for Winn grips, the tape, and solvent. I have finally put tubes in my bag and that should reduce the grips wearing down.

Yep, Johnny's Birdie Golf on 466. I would never step foot into Edwin Watts, not even to buy tee's after they reshafted my woods and the heads flew off two days later on the first round, first strike of use.
Don't know if Johhny's is open right now.

Johnny’s Birdie Golf on 466, is the best place for ALL of your golfing needs. No I don’t work for them, just a happy customer.

Notice some are having problems removing the old grips..
First get or buy a good hook knife, hold the knife at a 45 degree angle and slice the handle down the middle all the way down with a single stroke, grip pills right off grabbing from the top folding out and downwards.
If problem removing the old tape, damp with "Goo Gone" wait a few minutes then pill of..

Use utility knife with roofing hook blade, cuts on two sides and grip peels off easily.

I have always regripped by own. I have been using an air compressor to install my grips without adhesive tape. It makes it easier to install, remove and adjust as needed. Google "Install golf grips with compressed air"

Works great on a metal shaft, but don’t use that meathod on a graphite shaft unless you want to have to replace the shaft also. The hardest part about regripping clubs is getting the old grips off graphite shafts without scratching the graphite.

Well I don't golf but if I did I'd probably do it myself. I think it would be kinda fun.

Most of my clubs are graphite shafts and I use the process I had posted earlier.
But it all goes like this:
Some can and some can't, I can with no damage to the shafts..

Regripping
 

Have always done my own ( spouce’s too). Very simple be they steel or graphite. Also do my hickories but that is another discussion.
Have always had plenty of time to adjust new grips before they set. Do one at a time. You can get an injector gizzmo which injects solution under grip to remove an error or to remove and reuse a grip.
Practice with an old grip to get the hang of it. Also you can make as many layers of tape you need to personalize the feel.

Never had attitude @ Brownwood. Grips, shoes, gloves......been in there a number of times. Great service.


Did have a driver re-gripped at Sarasota..........the bonehead in the shop didn't get it on straight. :ohdear:

There’s always one turd in every punch bowl full of club techs. 🙄
