Guidelines: Opening Up America Again

Listening to the President's news briefing, I could only remember some of the information in the guidelines. I downloaded them and read them a few times. I would encourage you to read them also, because I belief our lives will be affected by these phases for quite awhile. In some cases, the governor will turn to the county, who will turn to the local government to make decisions. In other cases such as schools, bars and nursing homes, the federal government has made the initial decision for the states. People will be happy with parts of the plan, but no one is going to be completely happy. That generally is a sign of a good plan! |
Very well done by The President and his staff.
|
As I predicted, vulnerable individuals (elderly and those with health conditions) don't get freedom from house arrest until Phase 3

Each Governor gets to decide, wonder if Florida will choose different phases that have lower numbers, than say Orange County

Not surprised that many numbers with Covid are health care workers. In MI one hospital alone have more than 1000 employees diagnosed. That brings up numbers quickly. |
President’s plan makes sense. Rolling opening with careful monitoring.

We were in our local Wal Mart on 466A yesterday and people were definitely keeping away from each other. Last week we stopped in a Wal Mart near Orlando and the young people appeared to make no effort to keep their distance from each other. |
The person who I will listen to when determining the all-clear is...............me.

Anyone doing some independent studying about this whole situation? Read this latest study by two Stanford University doctors about how the reaction to this virus was way overstated. It gets pretty technical but the underlying premise is, how do we attain crowd immunity, if we stay huddled in our homes. It's a good read...here's the link...

They’re doing a hell of a business out behind Palmer country club. Beer, hotdogs, and just good clean fun. They still have the tables and chairs set up on the back patio so you don’t have to sit in your golf cart.

I'm all in for any carefully thought through plan that get us to the new normal
it will take awhile....businesses that were financially on the edge will have a difficult time weathering this what I hope doesn't happen after being cooped up for so long is that Villages embrace an attitude of 'damn the torpedo's, full steam ahead' some airlines are not selling the middle seat....we'll have to wait to see if the renovations going on inside the theatre in Spanish Springs will include taking out every other seat and the odd numbered rows lol |
It is time to Liberate the pickleball courts.

I listened to the video and it's astounding! It truly is a game-changer. I've heard others also state that the numbers of other studies are off. I generally think that fear has played a large portion in this thing. The virus is real, don't get me wrong BUT wonder "IF" ......think of positive scenarios in this. I know some will shoot me down. Just know as I say this---I have autoimmune issues that put me in the risk factor, along with age. |

It’s a new virus. No one knows

Washington DC presents guidelines to the states for re-opening. None of the states currently meet these guidelines. Washington DC then starts tweeting that certain states should be "liberated," in violation of the guidelines they just presented. You can't make it up.

If they had a complaint, they should've complained in a way that didn't threaten the lives of everyone else. |

The topic is the “opening up America plan”... some of the replies have attempted to take the discussion off track into the political arena. Please stay on topic.

Well DianeM, some of the beaches in Florida are now open. By all means, go on ahead over to them, and join the fun and frolic. Just please fumigate and sanitize yourself and your car before returning to the Villages, so that anything you picked up from those fun frolickers doesn't enter our community.

I don't think this picking at each other helps anybody. I personally don't think protesting and marching does a lick of good, but I know I am in the minority. I can't think of any protest, on either side, I would join. Most of the causes that really matter to me, don't have groups of people wanting to march. I have always supported stem cell research, even when others who I loved did not. I got in trouble when I was 12 with my family when I wrote to the Columbus Dispatch that I felt that Darwins Theory of Evolution was a legitimate area of science to study. I try to remain silent on some issues because I have friends who are dear to me who feel that these things are in conflict with faith in God.
All we can do is try to be fair and try to be open minded. I know it does not help anybody understand better when we give or get a mean hearted criticism. And I have done that. Many times. Now my very heart is tired of stress and dissension. |
Personally, if folks want to kill themselves, go for it, just don't kill me or mine. I'm listening to the scientist NOT the politicans.

We have about 22 million people in Florida. And have had 726 deaths. Do the math??

And due to a lack of testing, have no clue as to where we are..."on the curve." |
