Several projects on our new home in TV. Running ethernet cable to front and back bedrooms and living room for VOIP. Moving outlets to a higher level for wall mount TV's. Adding 50 amp service in garage. That is all we know of right now.

Our house was wired using Ethernet (CAT-5) cable for the telephone taps with several of these throughout the house. We went with a AT&T 5 station wireless phone system, we located the base near the modem, and placed wireless remotes as needed throughout the house, NO wiring. This is a Voip service, as the "phone line" is provided by the cable modem.
If you are handy, it is very easy to move the electric outlets on interior walls I helped a couple of neighbors do this. All wiring comes from the attic down the walls, so it is easy to pull the wire out of an existing outlet an place in what is called an "old work" box that you just installed.
As for Galaxy, I have had mixed results, they did the original low voltage wiring in out house, some of which had to be repaired under warranty, and then I had to repair the work that was done for the repair. I was not happy. Some of the original low voltage wiring left NO excess wiring in the boxes, making future work or connections very hard to do.

I could be wrong, but I think, if you don't want to use wireless phones, you can just connect a phone line from the cable modem to the nearest phone jack, and that will energize all of the phone jacks in the house.

You are correct. I was not clear on my response. If the house was wired with CAT-5 for the phones, this can be converted to an Ethernet connection, with a router in the garage, new connectors and cover plates. The wireless phones eliminate the need for using the CAT-5 wiring. We just went with wireless for everything by relocating the modem to the center of the house. This provide very good WiFi coverage, and if I really need full speed (over 100 meg) for something, I can plug in an Ethernet cable to my PC.

Actually our house is wired for CAT 6 future internet as it states on our spec sheet. Not sure if we already have ethernet outlets in bedrooms/kitchen which is where we need for our VOIP. Called Galaxy, pretty expensive if we already have ethernet wiring and outlets. Hopefully will find out more from our Villages agent.

IMHO--the company that advertises on a daily basis is out of their minds , price wise--we used Galaxy when I needed recessed lighting for our MBR

I would challenge you to find one near the villages. As a matter of fact, as long as there is somebody in the office with a license, the people in the field are not required to be licensed.

I know I am suffering from cabin fever and am very bored. But the title to this thread made me laugh. “Need great electrician”. Has anyone ever started a thread titled “Need a crappy electrician”?
