Just a suggestion, but have you considered a GPS speedometer that doesn't need to be installed?

jellybeanrt 04-23-2020 10:33 AM

I have GPS speedometer, with a high speed alarm. It is a heads-up display, you set it on the dash and read it on the windshield. I no longer need it, new gold cart is set for 19.9 mph. Let me know if you want it, $20.

jellybeanrt 04-23-2020 11:41 AM

Sounds good, but l do not have room by a windshield in my golf cart. The one l have now is attached to my steering wheel . It is not working as the wires are not connected, and l do not how how to fix that. Thanks for the reply

villagetinker 04-23-2020 02:03 PM

I can fix the wires.

bagboy 04-23-2020 07:02 PM

I've heard that speedometers can be wired to alert a driver that drifts left across the center line.:

Not without a lot of sensors and computers for the lane departure system.

JGVillages 04-23-2020 07:46 PM

If you have a smart phone there is a speedometer app that works great. Just attach a cell phone holder to the window frame or in a cup holder. Also has a full screen display for us older sight challenged folks.

Cheapbas 04-24-2020 05:25 AM

You can use the villages golf cart app

If you Put in a destination it will tell you your speed. However it is small and tough to read and a distraction while driving

Professor 04-24-2020 05:43 AM

Set the governor (or have it set) at 20MPH and forget it. Those who work on carts know how to do that as it is not difficult. What is the rush anyway? I laugh when people zoom around me on the street or on the cart paths (yes my cart is set for a max speed of 20 MPH). I wonder why they just don't leave earlier if they have a specific time to be somewhere? I believe that if you don't take time to enjoy the journey, why bother going?

HappyRetired 04-24-2020 07:03 AM

I hope your cart is street-legal if it needs a speedometer. Speeds in The Villages are limited to 20 mph. So unless you're on the street with a licence you shouldn't need one.

greenflash245 04-24-2020 07:06 AM

connect the wires

gman13 04-24-2020 07:21 AM

I would be interested in it if it is still available. Email gkadow@aol.com Thanks.

024engine 04-24-2020 07:22 AM

The villages gps ap will give you a speedometer. It cost 7 bucks and works for roads and golf cart paths

bilcon 04-24-2020 07:25 AM

If you need a lane drift alert in your golf cart, you are in trouble. 19.9 MPH Max speed in a golf cart is a joke around TV. So many retirees in such a hurry to go nowhere. OH yeah, might miss 2 minutes of Happy Hour. (Sorry, no happy hours since mid March). Slow down. Remember, you are no match for a car.

Pedrocarrasco01@yahoo.com 04-24-2020 07:31 AM

Yes indeed

I do have one on mine from the factory:welcome::welcome::1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:: 1rotfl::coolsmiley::coolsmiley:

davem4616 04-24-2020 07:37 AM

your cart shouldn't be rigged to go over 20mph....

Indydealmaker 04-24-2020 08:45 AM

Garmin's makes a GPS navigation device that warns you when you cross the line. Speedometer and all of the bells and whistles. About $100

Hello, question...... Do you know where I can get a gas gage installed for my golf cart? Thanks

jellybeanrt 04-24-2020 10:00 AM

Thanks for the offer to fix the wires. I think someone is bringing a speedometer over Monday. If this does not happen may l contact you?

Just a FYI, my gas gauge never really worked that well so I had it replaced two years ago. The new one is worse than the old one.I fill up every 160 miles or so. But to answer your question, any cart mechanic can do this for you.

When I someone passes me and I'm doing 20, I think what's the rush? Nothing is really open, are they rushing to get home?

Nothing is open? Aside from restaurants, grocery stores, dentists, doctors, gas stations. etc.

I was in TV Golf Cart store last month at Colony, they had these hanging on the wall for $15.99.

When I bought my cart new from TV years ago and I was getting all the options added, they installed a gauge like this for $75 between the flasher toggle and the key ignition, mine works good.

Speed limit in my neighborhood is 15. Speed limit on Paige Ave near Spanish Springs is 10. I went thru there at 10 and had car riding my bumper until he noticed the speed trap in the parking lot. I do find my speedometer to be useful enough to have one.

Had a power/usb plug installed. Now my phone stays charged and I can use the speedometer and my golf course GPS installed on my phone.

I think you are number 4 of the list, apparently this is a popular item. I am going to test this weekend and then start contacting people in the order they contacted me.
