Fresh Market

We were in Fresh Market this afternoon. Sign on door says no entry without mask. Guess what! There was at least ten people walking around without masks. What’s a bunch of morons!

retiredguy123 04-23-2020 04:44 PM

Who are the morons, Fresh Market or the customers not wearing masks?

More than that retiredguy. 3 Categories Actually!1) The Management, Snoooozzzzzers, 2) Anybody who noticed the sign and stayed. 3) Those people not Adult enough to follow a posted RULE were breathing their Chromosomes all over the Lemons & Limes & Coconuts. Pinheads 1, 2, & 3!

I'll bet you a Lobster that the 6 Foot Rule and Social Distancing weren't adhered to very well either. Probably nice people. Irresponsible Idiots. That's all of them 1, 2, & 3. :boxing2:

The Pools are opening soon. Ha. I hope that goes better than a Fine Grocery Shopping Experience with plenty of supervision and a nice sign. We saw the sign and the people not complying and went elsewhere. Online order again. Adults at the store or pool? I don't think so.

billethkid 04-23-2020 05:37 PM

It is what you can expect with no enforcement.
Courage to put up a sign. No courage to ask violators to mask up or leave! And the violators know it.

The sign does not say people had to keep their mask on once they were in the store.

Maybe they wore a mask when they entered the store and then took it off.

That happened today, today is almost gone.

Basically you vented fine however, it is history.

Next week will be a tough week for some however, this will soon be over.

Try to look on the bright side.

The Villages will begin to get back on May 4th, talk to neighbors that may help.

That’s like saying you need to put on a football helmet to get in the game then take it off once you’re in. Really?

Was in Fresh Market yesterday afternoon and it was pretty busy. Everyone was wearing a mask and keeping social distance. The meat line was long probably due to the worry of so many meat processing plants closing. That got me in there.

This is an attempt at sarcastic humor right?
If we thought it was serious we might wonder about the thinking process!

I like the football helmet example.....the poster was also remaining polite!

kaydee 04-23-2020 10:14 PM

No more of a violation than the sign that states “ service dogs only” and those who just bring in their pet.

NotGolfer 04-23-2020 10:35 PM

I was there mid-day yesterday (Wed.)...everyone had on masks and the meat line was a long one. I didn't know of meat plants closing--I was just there as I usually am. I won't get scared or freaked because of something I can't control. One thing I did notice with the people though was---social distancing wasn't especially happening. So it's April 23--almost the 24th---we'll just keep plugging along. Me---I'm going to go outdoors tomorrow and get some U-V and fresh air. Oh--I'll have my mask along too.

Schneil 04-23-2020 10:57 PM

WE were at Fresh Market tonight and everyone had on masks and gloves. It was wonderful! It is the only place we had felt "safe" to shop in and around The Villages. Congrads to Fresh Market and to the readers who take this virus serious. I value my life and your's too much to make jokes about this situation.

Sensei 04-24-2020 04:42 AM

Moron? Let's read together..."no entrance without mask." I had a mask, in fact I have two: one in my car and one in my pocket! The sign made NO MENTION of wearing the mask. Now, let's consider what might constitute a moron!

Two Bills 04-24-2020 04:53 AM

Where my daughter lives in Austria, the supermarkets hand out masks to customers before entering store.

karostay 04-24-2020 05:23 AM

Villages Entitled.... just out shopping

Rwirish 04-24-2020 05:39 AM

The mask police are out!

Leadbone1 04-24-2020 05:49 AM

I don’t wear a mask and never will. It’s nothing more than a psychological item. So stated by the surgeon general. If I saw a store with that sign up I would never go there again. I’m glad people ignored it. You have no right to push your paranoia onto other people. This thing has gone beyond ridiculous!

You betcha, can’t wait to see the tan lines on the poolies. Reminds me of the commercial with the couple laughing at each other over their tan lines on their faces. Somehow wearing a mask and being in a pool just don’t jive with me, kinda like getting a haircut with a mask on. I guess that would be okay if u only wanted the top of ur hair done.

Fresh Market or any other store can not require you to do anything unless you are an employee. The only thing they can do is deny you entry as that is their right to refuse service.

I watched a video which showed, via infrared light, how far droplets travel while an unmasked person is talking. The amount of droplets spewed from the mouth is huge when viewing via ultra violet light.

Then the person's mouth was covered with a cotton home made mask. The amount of droplets through the mask was practically none. What a huge difference and an excellent visual as to why wearing a mask protects others, not the wearer of the mask..

My guess is you don't care to protect others. Gee, thanks a lot. NOT!!!

That is EXACTLY...what it boils down to.

What is amazing to me is that when people like you, me and others point out all noncompliant people in The Villages who we come in contact with that others have become so righteous and indignant stating that people are following the mandated laws. Frankly, that's just not true, so why do they lie? I will refrain from stating my theory. How about you?

Well you sure can forget becoming a reporter for the media. How dare you for trying to promote positive news and positive thoughts.:clap2:

wsachs 04-24-2020 06:59 AM

How can you still walk and talk? NO one told you to breathe?

dmarti1973 04-24-2020 07:08 AM

I love Talk of The Villages just because of the entertainment. The helmet analogy was great. The person who won't wear a mask and will not patronize the store that has the sign up asking for a mask is the same person who goes through the express checkout with more than 10 items simply because it is all about him/her and there is no one else to be concerned with.

Yukon9 04-24-2020 07:09 AM

May 4th opening. Has anyone told the coronavirus? Asking for a friend.

starflyte1 04-24-2020 07:12 AM

There is no mandated law that you have to wear a mask in Florida!

I'm not a very smart man, but mamma always said "stupid is what stupid does"

Bridget Staunton 04-24-2020 07:33 AM

I noticed younger people and a few seniors walking around without masks and not maintaining the 6’ social distance. I did think Fresh market did a much better job than other stores. I am going to send a kind message to enforce masks

I was in there on Wednesday & counted more than 10 people without masks even though there were 2 signs at the entrance Was very disappointed. Also no social distancing at the Deli counter. There was also a sign saying no more than 75 customers at a time but, there was no counter to count. I noticed that most without masks were not Seniors. The same thing in Winn--Dixie yesterday.

ficoguy 04-24-2020 07:49 AM

Well, that's like a woman saying wear a condom, but not saying don't take it off during the second act

newbie1758 04-24-2020 07:49 AM

I questioned the cashier about the masks & signs & she said "we can only suggest it, we can't enforce it".

I wouldn't trust them with a prophylactic then either

Have Compassion

I think most of you are too harsh. Maybe they were illiterate and couldn't read the signs. I was in a Walmart yesterday. They have small signs on the entrance to every other aisle saying Do Not Enter. They have arrows pointed in the direction that customers should be following. Of course in every aisle there were people going in the wrong direction without masks and passing within inches of each other. Do you think I criticized these individuals. Of course not. Not only could they probably not be able to read but imagine the complexity of figuring out what an arrow means. Oh I forgot maybe it's poor eyesight.

NJRICHARD 04-24-2020 09:03 AM

HOW does one swim laps with a mask on? This has gotten so out of control that it has everyone crazy. When the powers that be say...IT"S OK, does everyone take their masks off?

I don't believe anyone said that swimmers should wear masks. That is just silly. Pool walkers, on the other hand, can wear masks along with their sun glasses and sun hats.

So where did you go to shop Publix, Walmart? At least all the staff had masks on and in my last 2 trips there only saw 1 or 2 people without one, much better ratio then any other markets

I Don’t think people are that dumb/smart but there are a lot of people who don’t own a mask and thought management wants my business and it’s unlikely they will ask me to leave. Guess what? They were correct. However, next time they may stop you at the door and sell you a mask at an inflated price or if you don’t get a mask you can just stay home and order your items and have them delivered to your house. I see more and more people with masks everyday. I believe it’s time for everybody to wear a mask in public and this should be enforced. And as my wife will tell you, I don’t like to be told by government what to do for my own safety but this isn’t about me this is about you.
