Dairy queen

Does anyone know if the Dairy Queen in Leesburg is up and running? Getting tired of driving to MtDora and Silver springs for my soft serve ice cream fix.

What about Culvers? Added bonus, the building WAS a DQ.

delima2000 04-24-2020 03:46 PM

I like Culver’s too. But I also like the different sundaes that are offered at Dairy Queen. I patronize both places.

:) I think I heard there was one at 484 and I75. Google will tell you. I haven't been to one since the 2 in The Villages closed some time ago.

Yes there is one in the Pilot station at that intersection. That is where we go.
There were a couple here in TV many years ago. For some reason they did not survive/thrive.

A well managed Dairy Queen should have done a good business here in The villages. Obviously, poorly managed.

There are so many folks that are all about jumping on others. I have heard the term bucko many times and never knew it meant anything bad. Who knew? Get a life folks.

Ambrosia on The Square at Lake Sumter Landing Town Square sells soft serve ice cream.

Yes, it is. Found it in Leesburg some time in March-when COVID was “nothing to worry about” and restaurants were closing their indoor seating for TWO weeks. The indoor area was closed, but the drive--through was open. It was like an oasis in a desert!

mjkspear 04-25-2020 06:20 AM

There's one at the truck stop at exit 341 on 75, the first exit above Wildwood.

bonrich 04-25-2020 06:25 AM

Where is the DQ in Leesburg?

RRman77 retired 04-25-2020 06:30 AM

It is kind of old school, but why not give them a call?

1948JDG 04-25-2020 06:40 AM

Jbbest 04-25-2020 07:45 AM

:1rotfl: After reading your question and the next 2 posts I copied and pasted your question in Google. Entire operation took 30 seconds and I had an answer. :coolsmiley:

Just nothing to
Compare to a Turtle blizzard for me! I love it even more
With chocolate soft serve.
Drive all the way to Ocala
For one last week

barral 04-25-2020 08:07 AM

Soft ice cream

Try the “cone shaped” place on 441 in Tavares. Way creamier than many others in area. Also WaWa has great ice cream

I think that the term 'buckaroo' is still okay to use....but then again, I'm not really certain

ficoguy 04-25-2020 08:25 AM

We need more fat inducing opportunities. Dairy Queen ice cream is made from a skim milk based dried mix and then reconstituted with water. It does not come in a pre-mixed form. Hence it’s profit Is huge. But once you dip or load with toppings most people can’t tell it’s not the real deal

For sure.....in Georgia.

Fred2016 04-25-2020 08:29 AM

You are joking aren’t you? If you have to have it why ask here. How about calling them.

RaggTopp17 04-25-2020 08:38 AM

The Big Cone in Tavares is open

LowOnCash 04-25-2020 08:38 AM

Let me ask the question again - Are you guys actually eating ice cream from vendors like DQ - someone has to prepare it by "HAND"

Mike

PamfromNY 04-25-2020 08:41 AM

There’s a DQ in the travel stop near a I-75 exit off of 484 in Belleview. Since it’s a truck stop place, it may be open.

John_W 04-25-2020 08:41 AM

This is the Twistee, it's only 4 miles past the old Lake Square Mall on the same side.

https://s3-media0.fl.yelpcdn.com/bph...NtPGgfAg/o.jpg

The Dairy Queen would of probably been open under normal times. Here's from their Facebook page. This is the building in January.

This is from February

https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...99&oe=5ECA4D17

It's on 27 a little ways past Pizza Hut, right after Popeye's Chicken. It's just north of where Krystal Hamburgers went in three years, and they failed after two years. That stretch of road is not the best, they really should of gone on the 441 side. We'll see.

Yes, I drove by yesterday. Drive through only. I don’t know what their hours are. It is south of 441, on 27.

I get my soft serve at McDonalds and Chic Fil La (sp?). Dairy Queen and Twisty Treat do have the best!

bohlentj@gmail.com 04-25-2020 09:18 AM

mcDonalds soft serve is great and cheap.

Why don’t you just go to Russell Stover in Wildwood, it’s better than Dairy Queen or just as good!

Then, you sir have never had soft ice cream. I'd rather have a frosty from Wendys then scooped hard ice cream, it's just not the same. McDonalds is OK if you like only vanilla, but their chocolate dip is lacking. You can't beat DQ. Don't try Chick Filet soft ice cream, it's not even white, it's kind of yellowish and doesn't taste good.

Holpat39 04-25-2020 09:54 AM

Try the Dairy Queen on 484 just west of I75 in Bellevue. Closer than Mt. Dora

Rosebud1949 04-25-2020 10:14 AM

Thought we were to stay at home unless travel was ESSENTIAL. Did someone miss announcing a change in State policy
