Need Recommendation for Gutters and Downspouts

Looking for current recommendations for a seamless gutters and downspouts company. I read some older threads with recommendations but would like more current information.

Anyone recently use Stipes or Hills? Good or bad experience? Thanks.

Stipes has always been the #1 rated gutter company, I believe. They are fast, accurate and reasonably priced. Can't beat that!

Stipes
Call them early they usually have a backlog

Hills

Used Hills twice. Very satisfied and my standards are high.

Another vote for Hill's

We used Hills several years ago, gutters are still in excellent condition, would definitely recommend them.

I used Stipes. They were fairly priced, showed up at the time and on the date indicated, did good work, cleaned up afterwards and the boys were very curious.

A-Action. Very reasonable, fair price and quick installation. Very satisfied.

A Action did mine - no problems and good price

Gutter Installation

I used Hill and they were very good, price was right. I also did comparison shopping before making my decision to use Hill.

We used Stipes. For a little more we got a larger gutter system which allowed us to eliminate downspouts across the front of our house. Also, two years later, noticed one of the corners was leaking. Jim Stipes (owner) came out immediately and resealed every single corner. Great company, great product, great service. Can't ask for more!

we also used A-Action Seamless Gutters, pleased with the price, how they did the job and with the results

Yet another vote for Stipes! We used them twice and were always satisfied for all the above reasons!

dmarti1973 04-26-2020 08:37 AM

I used Stipes and could not be happier. Prior to the gutters being installed, a competitor, whose bid was almost 3x Stipes, told me the work could not have been done for the Stipes' bid. I did not seek a quote from Hills at the time...

Personally I don't want gutters all around my house. The front door area is all I want gutters on. I want the water to soak in the ground and water my bushes and yard and go back to the aquifer and not run off into a pond somewhere.

Pommom91 04-26-2020 09:31 AM

I used Stipes and got the 6 inch gutter which allows for less downspouts. Very happy with the end result.

WindyCityzen 04-26-2020 09:52 AM

Hill’s Gutters. Just had them installed. Great crew and price. Very accommodating

HoosierPa 04-26-2020 01:19 PM

Hills is terrific

Gutters

I used A-Action! There was not a long wait and the price was right. 352-406-3580

I wish it were that simple. The soil erosion on one side of our home is leaving the shrubs roots exposed. I asked a landscaper to fill in the void with soil and was told I would be wasting money because the soil will erode away again. He suggested gutters so I'm going with that option.

I would like to thank all those who have answered in this thread. Your experience gives me confidence with which ever company we decide to hire.

M&M

We just moved in and used M&M to install gutters. On time, courteous, fast and didn’t leave any mess behind. They look great.

I NEED gutters across the driveway because a previous owner installed half-height pavers on top of the concrete. The spaces in-between get filled with water and it comes right in under the garage door because the pavers come in under the door. If it would just run on down the driveway, I'd agree with you.

Yup, makes a lot more sense to wash out the edge of your foundation which is only a foot deep.

mulligan 05-21-2020 09:41 AM

Run away from Hills. They used cheap chinese fasteners on my house, they all rusted, and Hill refused to do anything about it. I bouight a box of stainless screws and replaced them all.

transplanted 06-10-2020 10:47 AM

I got an estimate from The Gutter Guys on 3 April 2020 and about 10 minutes ago from Hill's Seamless Gutters. The exact same amount, I mean down to the $$$ (which ended in a 7). The Gutter Guys - we had a coupon out of one of the flyers, so that took 10% off. The Hill's gentleman said he already builds in The Villages discount, that's it's a lot higher for the same job in Ocala. So after discount by Gutter Guys, it was the same price as Hill's upfront price.

Anyone else have this problem with Hills or anyone else that you've noticed? Thanks.

Did you end up getting the gutters? If so, who did you go with, why, and what was your experience? Thanks.

On a side note, with all of the recent heavy rains, i noticed the pop-ups for the drains on 3 of our down spouts did not appear to be working, actually one of the downspouts had the water coming UP at the connection to the underground pipe. I spent about an hour trying to find the pop-ups, the grass had completely grown over these!. Then when I dug them out, I found 4 to 5 inches of dirt and roots which I had to clean out! They are all working now, and I will be making arrangements so these are are much easier to see in the future. Never occured to me that these would clog and become overgrown....
