Village Radio Station Suggestion

Would love to heard some smooth jazz for a few hours. They really do talk a lot and say nothing. It's a suggestion to play smooth jazz on The Villages Radio Station.

Topspinmo 04-26-2020 09:54 AM

I sure if smooth jazz was popular they would be playing more, you can always call in request of you’re favorite song. Other than that don’t know what else you can do unless you find channel out of Orlando?

Kahuna32162 04-26-2020 10:39 AM

Sirrius / XM, and BTW, WVLG is not really a radio station, it's an advertising arm of The Villages developers.

CWGUY 04-26-2020 11:10 AM

:ohdear: Just couldn't help yourself..... could you? :blahblahblah::blahblahblah::blahblahblah:

In case not aware, and if you have Alexa, say " Alexa, play smooth jazz."

vintageogauge 04-26-2020 04:07 PM

I can't click my fingers anymore. Also they are starting another FM station number 104 for the villages south of 44.

John_W 04-26-2020 04:16 PM

I've had XM Radio subscription in my last four cars, wouldn't want to be without it. You would like channel 66 and 67. Every new car since 2007 that I've owned had XM Radio installed and you usually get 3 or 6 months free when you buy the car.

They are The Villages radio station. I was told by one of the morning DJ's that FM104 will be broadcasting south of 44 in the not to distant future.

OK, got it. It doesn't make any sense to me. WVLG is already broadcasting on 102.7FM and the FM broadcast antenna is located southeast of the Okahumpka Service Plaza. A second radio station for TV seems ridiculous to me. Time will tell.

OlifOlif 04-27-2020 02:41 AM

What about channel 32?

Caroberts 04-27-2020 06:19 AM

I can’t find a Jazz/classical station since we moved here in April. Missing the best station out of Philly. WRTI You can download their App and listen .

We used to play it off our TV.

I, on the other hand, like their programming exactly as it is and do not want it changed.

jjtjr 04-27-2020 07:02 AM

jazz

I use pandora on my smart phone it's free and you can listen anywhere.

BigMike 04-27-2020 07:18 AM

If you have IHeart Radio App on your tv phone or Alexa. the app is free. You can get a station out of Orlando it's WLOK. We play it all the time on our TV and Alexa. Hope this helps.

I enjoy listening to smooth jazz also, however I'd never want the Villages radio station to change their format or style

Think about it....the great majority of 'oldie' stations are now gone

so, you want smooth jazz spin the FM dial and find one, go buy some CD's...go online and find a station broadcasting smooth jazz...they're out there

let's not mess with the Villages radio format

Try Jazz24.org on your computer. Excellent selection of music 24/7. I always have it playing while I'm doing whatever on the computer.

RandyS 04-27-2020 07:53 AM

Comcast channel 845 Jazz & 844 Smooth Jazz - our TV plays music all day long.

RandyS 04-27-2020 07:56 AM

All Jazz All The Time

Jazzradio. com - both free & paid versions - multiple channels/genres to listen to.

How about between Midnight and 4 am

Joe C. 04-27-2020 08:22 AM

Try PANDORA ----- I love it!

tophcfa 04-27-2020 08:24 AM

I would suggest they STOP PLAYING DISCO!

forebubba 04-27-2020 08:39 AM

PANDORA. It's free. Download the app. It's the best

Ronlynch@comcast.net 04-27-2020 08:43 AM

Agree!

daveczo 04-27-2020 09:00 AM

Would rather listen to a lawn mower than smooth jazz. Yuk

It's not a "second station" per second they're just adding another frequency that they'll broadcast on. Many stations are doing this buying several low frequency stations to increase their transmitter footprint.

Never have listened to the Villages Radio station. I have PANDORA and XM for my music experiences both at home and on the go. I can also select any genre based on my mood at the time.
Seems to me that WVLG is stuck in the past. After 15 years the music coming out of the speakers around the squares is the same old stuff, over and over for the whole day, every day. Have to presume that the majority enjoys this stuff ?
Yes it would be nice to break it up now and again with segments for Contemporary, Jazz, Classical. How about some cool Diana Krall ! Heck, I will put it on my calendar to be there.

jenistaf 04-27-2020 11:37 AM

Pandora radio!

With the Pandora app you can choose a variety of music channels or set your own artist preferences - and receive it on just about any device - phone, pad, laptop, TV

That's because we come from the past, in the future Villages will be spinning on your head & butts while the Rap-Music plays-on...
Reserve you seats now while tickets are available......

Yes, I recommend “Siriusly Sinatra” on Sirius/XMAS, channel 71. Almost entirely vocal swing versions of songs from The Great American Songbook. It’s not “smooth jazz,” but it’s much better, with better melodies and lyrics.

Radioman41 04-29-2020 03:08 PM

If you have a HD radio check out WMGF 107.7 sub channel 2, out of Mt Dora. They play smooth jazz 24/7. I can receive it OK near Brownwood.

Competition is good. I thought we capitalists like competition, no? Monopoly borders on, well, the "opposite" of capitalism.

Besides, TV's metro population is around 130K, certainly enough to support another radio station. Although I listen to WVLG occasionally and am okay with it, it would be great to hear a Villages-based station that deviates from constant soft rock once in a while. And one that provides some balance to news reports rather than channeling only Fox.

And if they could throw in the prog and post-punk of our generation, that would be even better.

Apart from WVLG, I only listen to Sirius XM. For me, commercial radio has long been unlistenable. I only listen to WVLG because I'm new to the Villages and that station permits me to learn more about the area and gives me an overall vibe of the place, for better or worse.
