Cable tv
A full page ad for low cost tv in today’s sun.
Does anyone have experience with this company? Almost too good to be true. Paying Century Link over $200 a month. Enough is enough. |

Century Link discontinues Prism TV If you have a smart TV, which most TV's are nowadays, and obviously an internet connection since you're on this board. Why don't you get youtube TV or Hula TV? For example youtube TV has 70 channels for $50 a month streaming through the internet onto an app on you TV. If you have an older smart TV and can't get the app, you can get a ROKU stick for about $35 and that will fix that problem. You can try youtube TV for free. After considerable help from my computer tech I am streaming YouTubeTV, Prime, Curiosity and two other sites that I purchase on an annual basis. My cost is $50 per month for YouTubeTV, Prime around $13 per month, and two other sites that cost me approximately $70 each per year. I now have more really good TV to watch than I know what to do with! |

Get your own modem. The only requirement is that it support the DOCSIS 3.0 standard. The box will tell you if it's compatible with your provider.
Then check out Xfinity. They have a store in the mall near Rolling Acres Road and 441/27, on the south-east corner. We have their double-play, Internet and cable (220 channels plus Epix) for $145.00 per month. No contract. There are quite a few signs along the roadways advertising cheap Internet access. They all are reselling from established providers. The only advice I would give is, caveat emptor. |
Cutting the cord
We had center link prism since we move here 8 years ago. When they notified it's that they were discontinuing the program to residents we cut the cord. We still have their internet service. We purchased a fire stick, stream hulu TV, and other services. We are paying about 1/2 now.

It's a racket. All the companies play the same game. They are buying new business and do nothing for existing customers to build long term relations. Years ago I even talked to a senior VP at Directv and explained this. His response was we can help you cut your bill, what channels do you want to eliminate. Missing the whole point, I asked what the acquisition cost of new customers was since they receive a new box, dish and only have to pay for installation versus the retention cost to maintain existing customers. Obviously he could not answer the question. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE? The game is you sign with a new company at lower rates, then after a period of time(most after the first 12 mo) , you lose DISCOUNTS which your cost goes up, then during the second year, you lose more DISCOUNTS, by the third year you end up paying the supposedly full cost. Somehow the FCC needs enough complaints in order for them to look into. Spectrum is the same. I shopped the 'Prices start at $49.95 per mo. By the time I ended up getting a comparable package, it was the same cost I was currently paying. We should not have to play games every year switching companies to save money, its ridiculous! Good luck.....:rant-rave:

I've had Century Link since 2011. $49 a month for life and I get 80 mpbs and have no modem, fiber optic. Plug your own router or computer directly into the wall jack. I've had one outage in 9 years and they came out and repaired it in 2 hours. That outage was caused by a lightning strike. Be weary of Xfinity, that's the name that Comcast changed to after they were voted worse customer service in America. Just go to the search button at the top and search Comcast. |
if you call the number it tells the name 3 times I have been using them for 20 years great company great price
|
We have enjoyed IPTV for the past 3 years, $15 monthly include ALL Orlando Tv along with entertainment news channels foreign stations too called Nvision tv NVision TV
|
Thinking about going to just internet and then purchase You Tube.

In today's market, the only service you need to contract for is Internet service. Then, you can subscribe to a streaming service which is month to month, with no long term contract.
I use Xfinity because their cell phone service, using the Verizon network, is a great deal. I only pay about 13 dollars per month for a cell phone. But, I use less than 1 gb of mobile data. |
I would kill to have a $200/month bill. Switched to Spectrum 2.5 years ago as my Xfinity bill had crept up to $300 a month. Started out at under $200 for Internet/TV/phone. Guess what? Last month we hit the $300 mark again. (No, did not add any services or change anything.) I guess they're basically all the same.

I had comcast until I realized that my cable/internet bill had creeped up to over $200 a month. After they negotiated my bill down a little, I found there to still be added fees and taxes of over $25 per month. Checking with other providers, they also tacked on fees and taxes after giving me such a "great" price. I ended up going to Centurylink for my fiber optic high speed internet for $65 per month with the promise of it ALWAYS being that price, and using Roku for my streaming. I get more TV channels now for less than I ever did with Comcast or Sat providers. Cable providers are not being truthful, unless you ask them what the TOTAL monthly cost is gong to be with fees and taxes. Cutting the cable is not difficult at all. Comcast lost almost a million subscribers last year due to their constant increase in charges. Direct and Dish are rumored to be merging due to their losses. Streaming is now and the future for TV entertainment.
