TooJay's filing for bankruptcy
On the unmentionable online news. :ohdear: Really enjoyed their food, especially their carrot cake.

Don't think that means out of business.....means getting rid of their creditors and hopefully re-emerging.

Bummer, we like that place. Lets hope its not the first wave to break before a tsunami of restaurant closings?
|
I told the manager months ago they would be going out of business when management began cutting corners on the food. Their corned beef sandwich went from the best, to the worst overnight, for example.
|
this does not mean the end of TooJay's...this gives them the opportunity to protect themselves from creditors that would force them out of business
now they'll have to restructure and hopefully they will successful emerge from bankruptcy ...it would be a shame if they went under... we never went there much, but ya couldn't beat their pastrami deli sandwiches...I never understood the bakery side of their business and wondered if that was a profit center for them or not |
We really liked TooJays. Hardly ever disappointed there.
Why couldn’t it have been Cody’s? |
I agree. Never was impressed. Prices too high and I got terrible food.
|
No one should wish a company place goes out of business.

McAllisters for Pastrami or Corned Beef. Much better than TooJays

Yes, same with the pastrami. It became very fatty!

I’m sure they are a corporation so now is a great time to get rid of all their creditors who in reality won’t get any empathy or sympathy. I never was a big fan of their food either and never figured the location they chose at Brownwood. The first of several restaurants that will likely do the same not only here but elsewhere.

This is just the beginning. Only 25% of businesses that file chapter 11, as they have, survive. There are consequences to shutting down a 20 trillion dollar economy.
|
I asked a restaurant owner if The Villages is giving them a break on their lease and the answer is NO!
|
Amen.. Man people support your ma & pop's or all you will have is McDonalds & Evans.. Do you know how hard it is to run a small
business?.. It's not all about you getting a deal.. It's about the hospitality & passion of these owners to do what they love well.. stay in business for you.. AND THEY GOTTA MAKE MONEY!! yikes people.. |
Too bad they didn’t get any of the money for small businesses. Nearly all given to major corporations. Another failure.
|
Unfortunately, with the shutdown, the dominos are beginning to drop.
|
Cody's going to BK wouldn't surprise me at all! Who knows, it could be coming for them too! Live close to one and the cars in the parking lot have been minimal for quite some time, way before COVID-19!

From the SunSentinel re: TooJay's
Companies typically file for Chapter 11 when they plan to remain in operation but need time to restructure their debts. The filing enables companies to remain in operation while they work through the courts to develop long-term plans that satisfy their creditors. |
Very sorry to hear this, love their burgers, grilled chicken and fries.
Hope they come out of this |

Cody’s carrot cake is better...when/if they reopen.
|
chapter 11 puts all creditors on hold and cancels all leases

And those people/companies that are owed money get nothing

Yeah TooJay’s was great. Very consistent and friendly. Cody’s was always awful. Ironic
