Chitty Chatty/Rohan Rec Ctr Bridge Move - Coming SOON!

Well the traffic signs are up that SR44 will be closing at night starting on May 4th and the crews are working this morning to put the trucks under the bridge in preparation for the move. So Monday or maybe Tuesday evening it looks like the move may happen.

I plan on live streaming an elevated view of the move when it happens. The link for the live streaming is below. You'll also be able to go direct to my YouTube page to access the feed.

Gold Wingnut Live Stream - Chitty Chatty Bridge Move - YouTube

If this one goes like the Brownwood bridge move the entire move will take about 15-20 minutes to put the bridge in place. After the move is complete I'll post a time-lapse view of the move on YouTube.

If the move doesn't happen tomorrow evening I'll reschedule the feed for the next day and repeat as necessary until the move occurs. (Second hand information this morning is telling me Thursday for the move, but I'll keep a watch every day.)

I assumed this was going to happen given the rapidity of the Chitty Chatty and Bradford villages. Looking forward to seeing your live feed. Thank you.

Cool, thanks

dsnrbec 05-03-2020 11:21 AM

Looking forward to progress but it doesn’t won’t help anyone but the residents of Chitty Chatty and maybe Bradford. Still, it will be good to see things moving forward.

C4Boston 05-03-2020 11:35 AM

Any idea on the time?

Just out of curiosity, what is the law pertaining to flying a drone at night?

Here are the details, recreation rules are slightly different. Night flying is covered in 14CFR107.29 and .205.

§ 107.29 Daylight operation.
(a) No person may operate a small unmanned aircraft system during night.

Got it. Thanks

What's your point?
Just like the fire and brimstone preachers who take a snippet from the Bible and loose the full context and meaning.

Priceless. Comparing me to a preacher. That’s rich.

So, back to question. Just so I’m clear. You’re allowed to fly at night?

And I’m also trying to figure out how you are able to fly over people and traffic. That’s all.

Where did I say I was flying for this?
I don't fly over people unless they are directly and actively involved in the activity and they are fully aware of the risks. I also don't fly over moving vehicles. Per 14CFR107.39.

Don't let what you see in the videos be your only evidence. The camera angle and altitude put objects a lot farther from the aircraft than they appear and the extensive editing I do changes the perspective of where objects are in relation to the aircraft. The angles for direction of travel also affect what is actually below the aircraft as compared to what is in the video.

Re: OP's question about flying at night

In simple terms, there are recreational rules and commercial rules.

If they had to use explosives to make a hole for the pylons, they could call it the "Chitty Chatty Bang Bang Bridge":1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

I'm still uncertain of the MA2 mainly because the software it uses - DJI Fly. The only other one using it is the Mavic Mini (which I have). All the rest of the DJI models use DJI Go4 to fly. The feature set on Fly is very very limited as compared to Go4 which is the concern. The aircraft itself, from what I am reading and other reviews, seems pretty good and has some great advances that everyone hopes to see on the Mavic 3 and/or Phantom 5.

Right now DJI has not released an SDK or the API calls for the Fly software so there is no 3rd party Apps that can integrate with the MM or MA2. This is a huge sort fall because of the other great flying Apps that are available like Litchi and DroneLink.

For now, I would wait to see how it shakes out in the market and also see what's coming next, a lot of rumors are flying about the Mavic 3 Pro for this summer.

I have 2 DJI Phantom 4 Pros, a DJI Mavic Pro with the NoLimitDronz hack installed, a DJI Mavic Mini, a DJI Tello, and a DJI Osmo Pocket. For the bridge move I will be using one of the P4Ps from an elevated position to do the live streaming.

Spot on! Until the ramps and MMPs are built it will be just like the Brownwood bridge, a giant advertising billboard. Advertising and appeasement will be the biggest gains from this move, for now.
