Hole In One's

It's comical to see all the hole in one's that are being posted. What a joke, just glaze the pvc and it's considered holed out. 10 foot putt that just nicks the pvc and ends up 12 feet away, great putt it's in! Make it more realistic use noodles in the cup, that way it has to go in and can be lifted out with 2 fingers.

It doesn't hurt you. Relax.

I think all Hole-in-One turn in are funny, but no need to rant.

It's Holes in One, not Hole in Ones. And who cares. If people want to fool themselves let them.

Northwoods 05-06-2020 09:24 PM

I agree... if there is a significant increase in "hole in one's" now... you have to question how many of them would bounce out of the holes... or skim the holes... or fall about 1/8 of an inch short.
But you know what... the vast majority of the PVC holes in one people will never really know if their shot would have been a hole in one or not. But... these days... I guess it doesn't really matter.

More debatable than you make it sound.

vinricci 05-07-2020 06:00 AM

What difference does it make? It sure makes you feel good to get so close to the flag on the first shot.

Holes in one.

I got one last week but didn't count it.

It's comical how this bothers some people.

With the PVC insert, I'm wondering how the ball is supposed to get back to the kiosk at the last hole.

WHO Cares - Play the waythat gives you and your group the most gratification. Is anyone in TV trying to qualify for the Tour?

Touching is the thing they are trying to avoid. It's being done all over the country.

There is a plural form of one? Someone should alert the medias. :faint:

Chi-Town 05-07-2020 09:16 AM

I got one, landed on the green rolled up to the flag and softly tapped the rim. Still putting an asterisk next to it. But happy.

Hole in Ones???????

Hey guys & girls, Just a comment about the number of holes in one that have been listed!
I believe that this is a disgrace for golf!
Let's start from scratch and label it as it should be labelled! ...NOT A HOLE IN ONE ....but....A POLE IN ONE!!!
Hopefully the "Happy Paper", "The Daily Sun" will see this and change it for what it is!
Have a great day!

Rapscallion St Croix 05-09-2020 12:42 PM

I agree that it is not a hole in one. As far as my prioritized list of grievances go, I will slot it in at 1134 bumping putting the emphasis on the last syllable when saying "president" down to 1135.

Take it up with USGA. They make the rules and they say it is acceptable under current condition. It is NOT A DISGRACE for golf as you say.

Pipe was cut down in cup, about 1/2 inch below cup height

timinthevillages 05-09-2020 01:15 PM

The other day we heard that someone ahead of us in our group had a "hole in one". We were laughing and making jokes. At the end of the round we found out it was our oldest player (87). He was as happy as heck. There was no way we were going to take it away from him. So as the saying goes "dont hate the player, hate the game"

rjn5656 05-09-2020 01:23 PM

I play with golfers and non golfers. Golfers won't take it. Non Golfer will. Both are ok with that.

Played TDS today and they had it set that way, I hope they're doing it on all the courses.

I've purposely been avoiding getting my first hole in one until it could actually go into the hole.

:icon_wink: And the Gin mills are open so you can buy a round?

tophcfa 05-09-2020 08:41 PM

To each his or her own. Whatever makes one feel good and fall asleep quickly when their head hits the pillow. And besides, if one decides to call hitting the raised cup a whole in one, they don’t have to buy everyone at the 19 hole a drink after the round since the 19th hole is currently closed. All good, swing on😎
