Screaming at Colony Publix today

While shopping at Colony Publix this morning, some guy was screaming very loudly &*% $#@* *& His profane screaming fit could be heard from one end of the store to the other. I don't know how his screaming fit was diffused but it only lasted about 10 seconds. That was 10 seconds too long for me. I didn't see the altercation and I'm glad I didn't.

Nerves are on edge. How much worse can this get?

karostay 05-10-2020 12:59 PM

Perhaps he was just purchasing Ice Sreammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... ..:1rotfl::1rotfl:

Velvet 05-10-2020 01:04 PM

Since the staff can’t touch him to escort him out, do they need pepper spray? How do you get someone to leave the facilities these days?

Same way you usually do. Call the police.

What was the topic of his tirade, were you able to tell?

Maybe someone inspected too many zucchini’s before finding the perfect one?

Why are you still going to supermarkets? Everyone can avoid the screaming, facemask debates, aisle direction jujitsu, etc by simply ordering delivery or curbside pickup.

You’re correct but, unfortunately, I think a lot of folks don’t know how to do it.

photo1902 05-10-2020 01:30 PM

In 50+ years of grocery shopping, I’ve yet to encounter anyone scream, nor have I seen Jujitsu take place. What am I doing wrong?

ficoguy 05-10-2020 01:31 PM

Not going to Publix at Colony. Its where its happenin', man

roob1 05-10-2020 01:48 PM

I heard he had a colonoscopy scheduled for tomorrow, and they were out of tp.:22yikes:

I order from Instacart and they deliver my groceries, usually the same day. Easy Peasy.

Maybe I'll start going again so I can participate in the supermarket whine fests.

No, I couldn't tell. Just a lot of cursing. As I said, it only lasted about 10 seconds. The voice sounded like it was coming from the front of the store near the registers. By the time I got up in that area, there was absolute calm.

Why not? I wear a mask and keep my distance from other people. I even walk in the proper direction in the aisles. Also......I like to select my own produce.

This was my very first encounter of screaming in all my years of any type of shopping. Sign of the times, I guess.

We have done Publix instacart and also Walmart pick up. I still prefer to shop for myself.

Agree. If I didn't go grocery shopping, I would have no life at all.

Prefer to do our own shopping. When someone else does it they never get the little treats that magically appear in your cart at checkout.

Stu from NYC 05-10-2020 04:15 PM

I was there about 10 30 am and all quiet on the western front

Yep, just came back from Publix with a $16.87 ear of corn.

Most likely someone who could not find toilet paper.

Just to put your mind at rest. It was an Actor being filmed by a " CNN " crew recording the effects the Lockdown here in The Villages.

Wish I had my iPhone to record it. I did manage to get a few of autographs.

:clap2:

Also a lot of us don't use credit cards to buy groceries. I usually use cash. You can't do that if you order online.

Actually pretty simple just walk up and say to the person they are offering free Breakfast @Bob Evans, or Lunch depending on the time.

I have a lot of other ideas. :ohdear:

You made me laugh with that one!

Velvet 05-10-2020 07:28 PM

Me too... laughing, I just didn’t think of these answers myself before.

In Honolulu there are meth addicts etc who cause similar scenes in stores and they are carefully removed by security physically. I was wondering what one does during the pandemic. It must be hard to be in enforcement these days.

There are some things I like to look at or even taste before I buy. I do not want some grocery picker choosing what I am to eat. In particular, fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish. I could site many examples but for instance, do you want someone picking you a package of sour grapes, too ripe of bananas, a fatty piece of beef, or a gallon of milk from the front with a best buy date about to expire? My life is not so busy that I cannot enjoy the process of choosing my foods. (Used to work on farms and in markets in my distant younger days) I saw things happening to extend food life that keep me alert.

If people don’t get Back to work it’s going to get a lot worse and it not going to take weeks or months! This political crap has gone on long enough.

Where can’t you taste the food before you buy it? If you talking about Delia that -hyt should be allowed, do you’re tasting at home. If you’re talking about fruit, watch out, that’s considered stealing in some areas of the country.

Instacart or any delivery service no tasting. No stealing involved at market. Go to deli or bakery ask for samples. Not suggesting you take a bite of an apple. Give me a break. Just trying to suggest that picking your own food may be a better way.

Sorry , I forgot to mention that I spent 5 yrs in prison for tasting a grape. I wonder why they package the grapes in open bags?

I had groceries delivered once. Most items were fine, but there were a few issues. I asked for green bananas, I got very ripe, very bruised bananas. I also asked for Clorox wipes, I received 2 small jugs of Clorox bleach. The person who did my shopping did communicate with me and even text photos to me, but I want to pick out my own produce and meat.

Sure sounds like sour grapes to me.

Exactly. People were saying police should be called for lack of social distancing, speeding golf carts, bikes etc. But in a situation like this now its questioned as to what should be done. Just a side note. You cant pepper spray someone for yelling or refusing to leave a store.
