Considering changing from Verizon to Sprint for mobile phone service
We are considering changing from Verizon Wireless to Sprint for our mobile phone service. Should we? Any problems with Sprint?
|
First question, why are you considering switching?
|
I wouldn't do it CoffeeBean! My experience doing the same thing years back resulted in my paying the toll to get out of the contract with Sprint and it was over $600 to do so for 3 or 4 lines. Lesson Learned. It was from miserable service and I usually let grudges go towards companies that improve but just a personal belief that I have is Sprint is about as stable as Jello. They may have improved but not enough to change from Verizon IMHO.
Verizon can be aggravating sometimes but I don't think you can beat the service. That 55+ plan they offer with Unlimited Data is dirt cheap. My Vote = DON"T DO IT! :cryin2: |
I am an ex lifelong Verizon customer and am now a TMOBILE customer. I switched about 4 years ago. I went with tmobile and their over 55 plan. I was paying well over 100 a month for the two of us back then. I now pay 60 month for unlimited everything. That being said, Verizon coverage is unquestionably the best. Tmobile has been great but there are some little "outside of area' holes. I see Verizon has a senior plan for maybe 80 a month? I am thinking about going back to Verizon. Best coverage of any. Nothing worse than no coverage.

Upgraded phones with worse service is a losing proposition. Look at this:
55+ Senior Phone Plans 2 lines with unlimited data for $80.00. |
Reminds me of Woody Allen’s favorite restaurant. The food is terrible but the portions are huge.
|
T moble bought sprint.

I changed from Verizon's normal plan which was costing me about $60/mo for $55+ with military discount. The issue was going over my data limited it jumped $15. I now have their pre-paid plan which is $40 with 3g of data and unlimited text. They test your usage every month to see if you qualify to stay on this plan and I have. You cannot beat their reliability or coverage.

One line , unlimited talk and text. 2 GB data. No complaints since leaving Verizon 2 years w. |
T mobile senior plan
the t mobile senior plan is 30 dollars per phone, that includes all taxes.
Unlimited EVERYTHING, data, text, etc. and the only periodic dead zone I can find is when driving by the prison. |
I switched from AT&T and have been saving $55 a month for the last 9months. Had very few out of area while driving and as I moved it came back. I had similar problems with AT&T so don't know if the same place, but not an inconvenience.

Check out Xfinity Mobile. I was a lifelong Verizon user but after doing a bit of homework I found Xfinity to be just as good with service as well as dramatically lower in price. Used to pay more than $80 for 2 lines with 2 GB of data. Now I'm on their by-the-gigabyte plan and we used less that 1 GB per month and I have been paying (taxes included) a little over $14 per month. Yes, you saw that right, $14 per month. Not, I also have a triple play with Comcast (Cable TV, WiFi and a home phone VOIP) which give me an additional discount of $10 but if you're not with Comcast then you will pay an additional $10 per. Still a great price.

Sprint has been acquired by t-mobile. Both have spotty reception. My wife had t-mobile and while price was good, service was not. We have two phones with Verizon and are quite satisfied. Great coverage as many have pointed out.
|
We saved $80/month going to Xfinity for 2 lines and almost unlimited data if you have xfinity internet
|
Sprint has been bought by T Mobile, so coverage will greatly improve. That said I have T Mobile everything senior plan now at $30.00 per month. Have driven cross country several times with only 2 dead zones, one in Kansas and one in Utah, both covered by no one, otherwise no problems. Since the 2 companies will merge soon, don't think you can go wrong with switching and taking advantage of the 2 phone deal you mentioned. T Mobile has excellent service and 2 stores here in the Villages. If you're a veteran T Mobile gives you an additional discount, see if Sprint does as well. I'd go for it before they drop that deal

Not sure if Data is important to you...............but most vendors will slow the speed down after X gig used. Check into this if you are a data user. |
I switched to Sprint and after 9 months of terrible service I paid hundreds of dollars to go back to Verizon. My data was so slow that I had to ask my girlfriend if I could use her phone. When I called Sprint they would put me to the top of some kind of priority list for data and for about a day I would have data. Then I was throttled back to a spinning wheel on my screen. When I tried to cancel my service they would place me on hold for a long time and then "accidentally" disconnect my call. This happened 7 times in a row taking several hours. Finally I got a very nice lady who knew what I was going through and explained how bad things were in Sprint.
AT&T and Verizon are great but they're the most expensive the last time I checked. |
Other perks of T-Mobile are - Netflix for free and texting on some airlines.

I wish you luck CoffeeBean. :) |
Do you have Xfinity/Comcast?
Changed to their Mobile Service about 2 years ago when my Version contract expired and Verizon was not offering any reasonable phone deals. I was a long time Version customer. Have tried other services and the coverage areas were not as good. Found out Xfinity/Comcast used Verizon towers. No phone or customer service issues. Great deal for us. Look into it. |
We have had sprint for well over 20 years very happy with them

The attraction of Free Phones, if I've got that correct, is a Big Magnet to attract a person to a Company that has been spotty in the past. Who knows maybe they have made strides in a better direction lately with their merger. I would either stick with Verizon or give Xfinity a try. I hate to see anyone suffer. I noticed that the Cricket Store in Spanish Springs appears to be a victim of the recent events. Such nice people and many people around us use their service. |
Phone service
I have pre paid $35.00 per mo. Unlimited everything. Track phone has everything on it. Snow bird. Fl to NY. Never had a dead spot or phone issues. Also have google navigation on the phone, takes me from door to door, no issues. It is totally wireless, and my phone was $45.00. Was easy to set up as well.
|
Forgot to say i got it at walmart
|
I have Verizon pre-paid...... The plan is $40.00 a month, less $5.00 because I'm on auto pay. So for 35.00 a month I have unlimited talk and text.... and 6 GB of data. I think right now they are offering more data for the same price for new subscribers. Unless you stream movies on your phone, there's no need for that much data. I have cable internet at home. Verizon has the best coverage, it's a no brainer.

Verizon seems to work better in our rural areas.
|
Go to At&t there great had them for over 20 years !!
|
