When are we Re-opening?
I just got an email from the Districtgov.org folks. They say, “ As the majority of recreational facilities are now open, this will be the last COVID-19 District Action Plan.” There are no significant changes that I can see.
In any event, the facilities are open but not fully functional. Pickleball is only half the courts, Softball is for practice only. So how can this be the last plan? Shouldn’t the last plan be that everything is fully open, or it’s not the last plan? What gives? How can we fix this? |

The front page of the Lifestyle section in the Daily Sun today says that entertainment at the squares has been cancelled indefinitely. Guess if you want entertainment you'll have to come down here south of 44 and hang out at Edna's, they have a bar but beer and wine only.

A vaccine is just around the corner, listen to me please. This will soon go away, but you need to relax shhh close your eyes and relax. Now I want you to take a drive go to the beach, get take out and relax. Put on a Barry Manilow CD. |
The quarantine has been hard on everyone.
For me nothing will change until there is medicine or a Vaccine that is effective. |

Here’s what so many seem to forget: IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE RISK, YOU DON’T HAVE TO PARTICIPATE! Stopping others from living doesn’t improve your life at all. ATTICA! ATTICA!!! 😉😆 |

Fix what?

Not the "last plan", but the latest.

There us no "p" in Sumter.

quit telling everyone to come to Edna's

I noticed today in the Daily Sun that The Village sales teams are once again (pre-virus) having “Open” house daily sales times asking “all guests join us in practicing distancing & following all CDC guidelines”.

[QUOTE=DON10E;1773338]Sumpter County 253 confirmed cases and 13 deaths. Lots of evidence that this is an indoor virus. Open the doggone outdoor activities.
Here’s what so many seem to forget: IF YOU DON’T LIKE THE RISK, YOU DON’T HAVE TO PARTICIPATE! Stopping others from living doesn’t improve your life at all. ATTICA! ATTICA!!! Tell that to the hospital workers in impacted areas they did not sign on to take the risk. No such thing as an indoor virus it is about Exposure time and virus load. For now social distancing is the best measure available to protect everyone. |

has everyone forgotten we're still awaiting a vaccine for aids ? ? ? if you want to live the next 25yrs inside your house, go for it,,, you'll miss a lot of life
anyone notice the article referring to covid as bacterium rather than virus ? aspirin would've saved lives according to italian autopsies |
Gyms are opening Monday
What’s taking so long ? |

And "Aspirin could have saved lives according to Italian autopsies"....I missed that. No one wants to stay inside, but the risk has not changed to people who are older. We run a far greater risk of dying from Covid-19 if we get it. I kind of now understand why murderers are so happy to get life imprisonment instead of execution...(just kidding) My hope rests on there being some new medication that will be like an antiviral and take this virus down a peg or two, or getting a vaccine that will also diminish it's strength. BUT it is not over yet. |

The risk of death to seniors over 65 who are infected has gone down quite a bit, now listed as 1.3% by CDC. The risk of dying from covid 19 if you are under 50 years old is listed at .0005, way way less than risk for flu, pneumonia, car crashes, maybe even lightning strikes. Maybe they can get back to work and you can stay inside until you feel safe. |
Soon gone away

Pandemic

Will this happen every time? Of course not. But if your inability to delay gratification can result in even one stranger catching the virus and dying I question your choice. I do not think a game of paddleball or basketball is potentially worth someone’s life, so I choose to not take the risk. But I can still be at risk if you ignore the pandemic. You actions and choices effect the community, not just you. |

Fla and especially The Villages were late to the "party" we didnt start shutting down things till after March 15th and we havent been good at staying home or social distancing plus masks and gloves havent been mandatory - so in a community of 100,000-ish high risk residents we had 78 cases as of May 4th (the day before Phase 1 Opening) and the tri-county area (pop. 845,000) had 652 cases and 32 deaths. Now 25 days later The Villages has 82 cases while the tri-county area now has 787 cases and 37 deaths – those cases are lower than a “normal” flu season – BTW Sumter Cty’s 233 cases – 121 are at the prison

Even if we get a vaccine, only 50% of people say they will get it. So, what are we waiting for? Oh, Christmas in April!!
