Retired Police Thread
If you served your community as a police officer before retiring to The Villages we want to thank you for your service!
|
Hear hear
|
I have met many retired Law Enforcement people here in the Villages since moving here in June of 2005. Many of them at the area's various dog parks.
Thanks for your service. |
God bless the Thin Blue Line. Without them we would only have anarchy.
|
Police officers have one of the worst jobs in the country, a job 99% of Americans couldn't handle.
|
Most Americans are smart enough to know what the police to do for us on a daily basis.
They know the media, protestors and special interest groups do not represent main stream America....any color. |

Thank you. It has been hard watching the insanity sweeping the country. Lot of officers unnecessarily in harms way.
Ret. municipal, USAR MP. |
Yes indeed. Except for the retired officer (it was on his tee shirt) who went into a rage, wanted to fight , screaming obscenities because I pointed out that he was parked in a crosswalk while running into Publix.

Still working. Visit few times a year and plan on being a toad in 22 months. I have met a few there and ask how long does it take to not look at everything suspicious. Everyone is so laid back and I feel like I am on level 10 even on vacation. Anyways most say it takes a year and then you ease into the retirement. See you over the 4th.

Thanks to all the police that keep us safe including my wonderful father in-law. Please God keep my police niece safe in Ireland. Definitely support our BLUES
|
Thank you and every police officer around the country. God bless and watch over all of you!

PS Your username here is kinda funny for a cop! :icon_wink: |
It takes longer than a year, and some instances NEVER go away.
|
Thank you.
Thank you for your service. The expressions of appreciation for our officers is gratifying to see.
|
Thank you, we need to get together

Just remember that the number of protestors in the streets is small—spit in a bucket. The vast majority of people in this country, whatever their political affiliation, respect and honor our police for their work and the help they give us and their sacrifice. Never assume that respect comes from only one party. I have a friend who felt compelled to take her daughter to a protest march in Pennsylvania yesterday. The two of them carried Peace signs. They thought they were part of something important. Then the featured speaker started calling for armed revolt. She grabbed her daughter and left, sickened. She has a lot of police friends, and her son plans to become one after college. So even a lot of liberals support the police. I want to thank you and any other police personnel reading this, retired or not, for your service to the country and it’s law-abiding citizens, and also for your service to those who scoff at the laws, keeping them in line. We know you and yours make personal sacrifices to keep us safe. |
Thank you from a newly retired LEOW from Michigan.
|
If they were that smart they wouldn't be out in the streets protesting, rioting and destroying property. People are generally brainwashed by watching too much news!

Every Thanksgiving our family gathers together. I'm proud to say there are 3 patrolmen and 1 detective there. All of them do not brag or show off. They are all great young men and we are proud to have them in our family
|
Thank you
|
We have 3 LEOs, 3 Firefighters and 4 RNs in our family.
|
Thank you.
|
Yes, to all the good police we thank you sincerely. Defunding does not mean dis-manteling, it means redirecting some monies to under privileged areas. This country is in big trouble. Thank you to every good policeman, working or retired.

My husband was a Chicago police officer for 27 years and never talked about what he experienced each day on the job until after his retirement. If I would have known I probably would not have been so supportive of his career. After retirement he couldn't get policing out of his system so took a part time police position in a small town outside of Chicago for another 8 years. Family includes 4 retired police and 2 still active in Chicago plus 2 daughters both nurses. Proud of every one of them.
|
I know four. All nice guys.
|
I'm fortunate to have 1st responders all around me, everyone makes me a proud American.

Thank you from a newly retired police sergeant just outside of Wash DC. I feel lucky I made it out physically intact. I pray for my brothers and sisters still fighting to keep our communities safe. It is normally a pretty thankless job. I cherished every time I received a thank and try to thank every officer I see now. I look forward to when the retired police group of TheVillages meets again. Thank you to all the police working and retired!

A large part of our population are not aware of the dynamics of policing , and what many officers experience daily. The negative comments , the witnessing of the effects of poverty on a daily basis, including domestice violence , child and elder abuse. Dealing with those under the influence of drugs and alchohol. The stress of not knowing what your are walking into when responding to a situation . Going from "excuse me sir " to a knock down drag out street fight , all the while trying to retain your weapon. Lucky my scars are only skin deep. In contrast you get to see the good , the shop owners , mothers with their children , the older couple working in their yard , many times a kind thank you. I don't believe more money is the answer , education , teaching respect and love might be a help. Law enforcement is a great vocation with many life lasting rewards.

Saw it , just some first hand knowledge for what its worth.

Any retired Chicago police in the villages? If so they might like to look at a facebook page "CPD Pension Board Accountability Page" They/we are trying to have a comprehensive forensic audit of the Chicago police pension and have raised over $20K out of our own pockets to pay for it . The pension board is doing their best to stonewall this effort, wonder why, If you are drawing a pension from them ,its your money we are talking about, have a look at the site and inform others

While the police appreciate the supporters I can tell you they are feeling very alone. 90% of them got into this job because they wanted to help people, fight to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves. We knew the money sucked, the long hours sucked, the holidays away from your family sucked, missed family events sucked but they did it anyway. Right now I think police officers would like to see some kind of outward public support for them from politicians as well as the public. Rallies for protest but no one seems to want to rally for support.

I don't judge any of you because of those that have done wrong. Justice for them is what I hope for, not withholding praise for the people who did their jobs honorably. |
