Is the price on the cart firm?
When going to buy a new cart is the price they are showing firm or negotiable ?
|
You can always try, but I don't think you will get much of a discount if you are shopping in The Villages. If you want a lower price, I think you can save about $2,000 to $2,500 if you shop around outside of The Villages. I would try the dealers in Ocala and Webster.

It was in the Sun newspaper last week, The Villages Golf Cars stores would let you take $1,000 off any cart on the floor in any of their showrooms. My neighbor went down to LSL and bought a new one because of that. They probably still have that going on. However, for his 2011 trade-in they only would give him a $1,000. I told him to sell it on TOTV and probably get $3,000 for it.
However, I believe they are so over-priced. The gas Yamaha that I bought new in 2011 for $10,300 with black roof, floor mat, big side mirrors, SS wheels, shopping net, Ultimate Seats, 2 sand bottles, ball & club washer and cooler, would probably cost about $15,000 now from TV. I would look elsewhere. I bought from TV because I thought it was best to buy here, but I've never taken my cart to TV for service or repair. I've had Willie do all my maintenance at my home, and like they say, a Yamaha gas cart will last forever, I've never needed any repairs from the dealer in 9 years. Check out Carts & Clubs in Ocala for new carts and for refurbished one year old carts from Villages Discount Golf Cars on 466 and Grandma & Grandpa Village Buggies on 441 north of 42 on the right. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/GwB7p_Fi-7E/maxresdefault.jpg https://ocalayamaha.com/wp-content/u...yx-768x576.jpg https://www.talkofthevillages.com/fo...-car-image-jpg https://nebula.wsimg.com/c8eb82dd6ac...&alloworigin=1 |

Went looking around today. The Villages Golf Cars has the $1000 off, but the salesman said that in stock 2020 cars are low due to May being a good sales month. He added that he has never seen them discount that much. Village Discount also didn't have that many 2020's in stock and for the amount off, new seems a better option. Like what I saw at Carts and Clubs and they will deal a little. They also have the nice electrical setup under the seat. I'm going to sleep on it and pick a winner tomorrow.
|
I woud think that inventory is low everywhere because of the shut downs during the pandemic. Make sense?
|
I can't speak from personal experience, but I have golfed with several people who swear by Carts and Clubs. And they're carts come equipped with some features you won't find from other dealers. If I was currently in the market for a new cart, that would be my first stop when checking out options. As far as negotiating a deal, my experience has been that the real negotiations begin when they are talking to your back as you are walking out of the door.
|
model year changeover for Yamaha is in July....like cars, getting rid of previous year stock will be discounted.
|
why are golf carts different than houses, cars, planes, trucks, & boats ? extremely rare for anyone to pay full asking price for anything,,, understand bidding wars are different - eg, you want arnold palmer's personal golf cart or his jet.....................
|
Shop online, you'll see about $7500, that should give U an idea what the stealers markup is and how much to negotiate.

We bought from The Villages discount golf car in May. I had been looking for 4 months. They had the best deals around I had seen in months. We paid under 12k, 2019. After looking in all towns/dealers it really was a good deal.
|
In May of 2020 it was firm. They claimed it was the lowest price posted in years.
I believe the owner did that BC of CVD 19, if I remember right. Quote:

I went to buy a new golf cart and from what I remember the cart was going to cost me around $14,000. I found the same cart at Budget Carts in Haines city for $7,600 with free delivery. I bought a brand new 2020 Yamaha and I picked the color I wanted. The dealership added a few options at a fair price. I had to add the side mirrors with built-in turn signals, floor mat and a few other things. Some I bought from the villages and some off Amazon. I'm guessing I ended up saving about $4,000. My Sunbrella isn't the same quality as the Villages and I don't get the free maintenance or any other perks. The only thing I have done is changed the oil since there's no filter. I'm happy with my purchase.
I would think some haggling is appropriate? The Villages do enjoy a 40 mile territory around each store so they can sell carts for whatever they want and you have to go out if your way for savings. I'm not trying to steer people away from the villages golf cart store. This is just my experience. |
One item to consider when purchasing is service. We purchased at The Villages Golf Cars and have had excellent warranty and repair service in addition to a loaner.

negotiate. as if you were buying a car.

Find the cart you want, then negotiate additional extras.

Carts are almost a must have in The Villages, but those to me goofy looking little cars are a joke.
|
I don't understand why the dealers don't have "Build Your Own Cart" site showing the prices for the cart and all options. Cars do it.
|
We bought our Yamaha gas cart from Cart and Clubs in Ocala and were very happy. Good choices, options, extra features included, nice people to work with, etc. Service is wonderful. They come right to your driveway. We have had the cart for several years and it still looks/runs like new.

As mentioned earlier, Budget Carts in Haines City down by Lakeland has good prices, so looking at areas away from TV is a great idea.
I remembered there was dealer on CR101 in the shopping center next to Streetrods, and I think they were even on Signature Dr by Sparr. They closed a couple of years ago, but had good prices, I guess they couldn't compete in this area. I looked up AGC Advantage Golf Carts and they are very much in business in about six cities in Florida and have excellent prices. I never dealt AGC when they were open here because I remember they basically only sold EZ GO at the time, maybe someone who has dealt with them can add some info. #1 Golf Cart Dealer in Florida | Advantage Golf Cars This is from their website right now. 2020 Yamaha Golf-Car The Drive² - PTV GAS EFI Golf Car Price Includes: Canopy Top, Upgraded Black Seats, Backlit Tuning Fork, Dual USB Port, 14x7 Bravo Tires Upgrade, Premium Light Package, Smoke Hinged Windshield, State of Charge Meter, 4 Year Limited Warranty $7950 or $153 a month for 60 months. https://cdn.dealerspike.com/imglib/v...470835C75D.jpg |

Just shopped last week. Country Power in Webster starts at $2000 off at $7995. They are only 15 mins from the Fenney area. I didn't end up negotiating as we ended up buying from Village Discount Golf Cart at the 441 location. Looks from a previous poster, there was at least another $1000 on the table.
VDGC prices start lower since they are reconditioned. They had 2019 and 2020 available. I was able to negiotiate an additional $2100+ off of the packaged price and that was for a cart that they are building for us (not from their current built stock). All main dealers (VDGC, Webster, Ocala) provide service at your home at a scheduled time. They all provide loaners. I mention this because those that buy directly from the Villages not only pay non-negotiatble prices, but the have to take their carts to the dealer location for service. Ironically, its like you have to pay them for the pleasure of shopping their dealerships. You will save by getting into your car and drive 15-45 mins away. |

Then there is Village Discount Cars, which has no affiliation with The Villages. |

I don't see Carts For Less mentioned. It's on 441 just down in Fruitland. Completely reconditioned carts, stripped to the chassis and rebuilt according to your specs, with 1 year warranty. I saved big bucks compared to the other shops mentioned here. Very please with my experience. Well worth a visit before you buy.

who is Willie and can I get a number in case I ever have a problem.
Thanks |

Todd Casey Golf Cart Repairs Either one will come to home and perform annual maintenance for about $70 on your gas cart or any repairs. You can search their names on TOTV and find they both have excellent references. |

https://cdn.dealerspike.com/imglib/v...470835C75D.jpg I like that new matte finish, I was in LSL buying a larger cooler last year and saw the matte finish and I looked a the cart and it was $15,000. |

I bought this 2017 Yamaha Drive 2 gas cart new from a dealer in southern Georgia, had him add a few options like turning signal mirrors, folding windshield, rain cover for golf bags, he shipped it to me for $200. Then added customs seats, 10 inch wheels and tires myself. Total cost was $8750 |

My cart will be 9 years old in July, and I just got into a kick to do some more work. I've got Liquid Lights coming next week, nobody had those LED lights back then. I just ordered an overhead AM/FM radio console with speakers that will go in the ceiling, that will be here tomorrow. I got rid of the old floor matt, the ones that stuff fell right through and got the solid rubber from LSL, and I just waxed the cart. I'm considering seat belts next. https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...61&oe=5F09D30A https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...81&oe=5F077956 |
