Navy vet's living in the Villages
 
I know theirs a lot of navy guys living here, I was in 61/65 A year at NAS Norfolk VA 1961/62 Then US Saratoga CVA 60 1962 was aboard during the Cuba blockade. Served the rest of my time on the US FDR CVA 42, My question is are their any other shipmates living here. If so it would be great hear from you.

USS BELLATRIX AF62 (1966 till middle of 1968) & USS PICTOR AF54 (June 68 to Nov. 69)
made 6 4 month cruises to Wes Pac. 3rd class Bosen Mate. 3 yrs 10 months and 2 days,
not that I was counting.

va 174, training squadron for a7 aircraft,cecil field , jax. fl. va37 3 cruises on the Saratoga including the first west pac viet nam duty for a east coast carrier,,,,, 68 through 72, aircraft electricians mate. good times, but glad to come home.

Lifer here, did 20 years and 20 minutes. Westpac on USS Berkeley (DDG-15) ‘81. Moved on to supporting airborne ASW mission for most of the rest of my career. Retired from USN in 1998.

While on duty spent my time in Marine Greens, blues and white when off duty or TDDY.

Hoping to be driving to CT in Oct and on the way back stop and check out the old unit.

USNAS Atsugi, Japan, ‘63-‘64. Squadron VU-5. The only time I even saw a ship, while in the Navy, was when I was being transferred to Japan and spent three or four days at treasure Island in San Francisco. I saw a navy ship coming underneath the Golden Gate bridge. Go Naval Air!

U.S. Navy ...April '65 thru October '68. Enlisted when I was 17, and got discharged the day before turning 21. When I got out, I registered for the draft.

Spent my time as a RM3 aboard the U.S.S. Hollister DD-788 (Desron 9) on a 2 year Westpac cruise. What a cruise !!!!!

Well, I'm not a guy, but I served too. USN enlisted, 1977-1990. 3 four year tours; NAS Millington, NETC Newport, back to NAS Millington.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your service. I had two uncle's who served my dad's middle brother was in Vietnam for two tours with the Army and his oldest sisters husband served 32 years in the Navy.

Served in Air Wings ( RA-5C, A-7, F-4-A-4) aboard 7 carriers in 21 years. Ranger, Forrestal, Lexington, Independence, Antietam, Enterprise, and Constellation. Made 5 WestPac and 3 Med cruises all working the Flight Deck.

I was onboard the USS Boxer, LPH-4 during the Cuban missile blockade. I was ship's company as an E-4 Hospital Corpsman. The Boxer was designated to be a medevac recipient hospital after off-loading the Marine grunts. Never happened, but we were prepared. Richard

I was on the USS Davis DD937 after Bainbridge, MD electronic school from 1964 - Dec 1966 making multiple Med cruses, tour in Vietnam and Santo Domingo blockade, crossed equator, international date line, traversed both canals and circumnavigated the world as a FT2

I was in NAS Norfolk 1959 left 1/60 in VP-8 ASW aircrew

USN 1974 - 1994, 20 years 21 days (but who's counting). Mostly in Norfolk VA with two years of strenuous sea duty in Jamaica. Served on USS American and COMPHIBRON Six and shore duties.

Served on CVS36 Antietam 56-59 training pilots out of Mayport/Pensacola.

We went up the Mississippi to New Orleans a couple times, a real tight squeeze for 100 miles!!

I was an EM3 electrician, stood a lot of generator watches in the HOT boiler room.
