Hearing Aid

Any recommendations for the best hearing aid specialist/provider in The Villages?

Toymeister 06-17-2020 04:17 PM

Costco or Sam's Club. You will get aids on par with the specialty shops. Theirs 5,000. Membership clubs under 2,200.

villagetinker 06-17-2020 06:01 PM

Having gone to only one audiologist and one supplier of hearing aids, I cannot comment on the 'best', but i have had very good service from HearUSA, they have discounts for AARP UHC insurance, and I used the Villages Health System hearing specialist, and she was also very good Sarah Montero audiologist. On a side note, since these were my first hearing aids and my hearing loss was mild, I chose to go with lower end devices, both were supportive of this approach, and I saved lots of money.

I went to one of the 'hearing aid' stores in the shopping centers in TV

I really feel like I over paid for the hearing aids. I paid like 4K or 6K, can't remember which

if I had to do it all over, I'd go with the cheapest ones I could find...the expensive ones are just BS

well...that's my story anyway

My wife teaches classes to nurses in noisy rooms and has worked with Page Holt to maximize her understanding of high pitched voices in a large classroom up to 70 nurses.
My wife has been going to Page Holt for 9 years and we couldn't be happier.
She has recently upgraded to a new model after 5 years with her old set.
If your hearing loss is slight or you don't need to hear in crowds Sams Club or Costco might be all you need.
If you have tried hearing aids more than 10 years ago try them again because the technology changes every year.
Stay away from the store front shops go to a place with a Doctor of Audiology or an MD on the staff. Lake ENT is on the historic side.

Page Holt for sure.

Another recommendation for Paige Holt. Lake Ear, Nose , Throat across from Sharon Morse bldg on 441.

My husband has been very happy with the hearing aide facility next door to Home Depot & Panda Express on Rolling Acres Rd The Dr, August is his name, is very personable & knowledgeable.

hearing aid source

A frugal life-long hearing aid user is completely pleased with Costco's service, price and quality of product.

kannon 06-18-2020 04:54 AM

Costco definitely offers great discounts compared to other hearing aid places. There is some debate between hearing aid technicians vs audiologist but my experience at Costco is that they do a very good job for fitting hearing aids. Other hearing or ear related issues, you need a medical person. Costco hearing aids models offered are usually a year old or a feature or two off (example my KS9 has only one bluetooth source capability whereas the non Costco version has two, but at thousands dollars more).

We have also have had a very good experience thru TruHearing. Check website for locations near you. They use medically trained audiologist but their hearing aid prices are excellent and very transparent. They carry the latest models.

Good luck.

Not sure about Florida, but most Audiologists in California will give you a free test...I took a copy of my audiogram to Costco and bought my hearing aides there...I’ve had very good maintenance at Florida Costco’s. For my mild hearing loss they seem more than adequate.

My hubby uses Costco for hearing aids & glasses. They are very reasonable and give excellent care

ureout 06-18-2020 06:13 AM

I've been going to express hearing 541 Fieldcrest Dr for many years... who ever you choose make sure that they carry ALL the top brands of hearing aids and try them out, each brand usually will give you a different hearing experience ... ask about their accessories, apps and bluetooth capability

ismatta 06-18-2020 06:22 AM

I have been wearing aids for 10 years, and have worked with 3 different audiologists in that time. By far, the best fitting, price, and satisfaction was from Costco. I went to the Costco in winter park. I bought the top of the line from Philips, actually made by Oticon. They auto connect to my cell phone, and can also be controlled from the phone, in addition to being controlled by the aids themselves. The audiologist did a flawless job of getting them adjusted perfectly. Their price is half, I mean literally half the price of the other providers. They give you 180 days to make up your mind, a three year warranty, and a one time replacement for loss or damage. No one else comes close to Costco.

Are you a veteran? If so...…$50 at the VA clinic.

SKIMAN 06-18-2020 07:19 AM

I used Lake ENT very happy with them....

we love sarah m. she went out of her way to fit my husband's devices, is VERY personable & kind. yes, they were costly, but we needed a certain type for hubby that is higher than average. i'm sure if you need something, they would help, however SOME insurances will cover SOME of the cost. good luck :coolsmiley:

Hearing Specialist
Paige Alberson Holt, AuD
1501 US 441 N, Suite 1402 (across from The Villages Hospital)
(352) 753-8448
Doctor Holt is a doctor of audiology, she is not a hearing aid salesperson. Her objective is to assist her patients in better hearing, not selling hearing aids. She is very thorough in her examination, explains your situation in terms that are understandable and recommends appropriate solutions with trial periods. Dr. Paige seeks the solution best for your hearing problems so that you can enjoy communicating with your friends and loved-ones, enjoy music again, understand what the sermons are all about and just get back to enjoying life again.

My neighbor and I have been satisfied with The Villages Ear on Wedgewood Lane by Publix. Cleanings and follow up visits are free.

neelie 06-18-2020 08:52 AM

I use Dan at Village Ear. He is located on Wedgewood Lane, last office on right I have been going to him for years

mtnest917 06-18-2020 09:51 AM

I highly recommend Connect Hearing in the Spanish Springs area of town. Tiffany Jack, the audiologist, not only tests but does everything to keep you happy with your selection. My mom has had her hearing aids for 6 years and we are very happy.

Beltone has the best tech. From your phone, you can program for conversation, restaurants, movies, etc. Here's link to Beltone, Leesburg. Beltone Hearing Aid Center on 702 US HIGHWAY 441 N in Lady Lake, Florida>

Apparently, according to the VA, not all veterans qualify. I checked.

Yes , that was the last one I used before we moved from TV & they were good but the one I really liked was in Colony Cottages real near Beef O’Brady. This Audio. was so knowledgeable he never pressured you into anything & my hearing aides were free because of my Ins. So yes, HearUSA or Colony Cottage!

My husband went to Tru Ear which has two locations, one near the Bonefish Grill and the other at Colony Plaza. Adam is the specialist who worked with my husband and he was fantastic. Tru Ear accesses ALL of the major brands of hearing aids and Adam worked patiently with my husband to find the hearing aids that were the best for his type of hearing loss. Their prices are reasonable and we were provided with several accessories without a charge. If you go, please mention to Adam that Rita and John highly recommended him. Good luck wherever you decide to go!

Dpmyoung 06-18-2020 02:45 PM

Seems like they are closed.

tburke1948 06-18-2020 03:31 PM

If you have United Healthcare/ The Villages you can get them for a couple hundred dollars.. Just contact them...

Bay Kid 06-19-2020 08:12 AM

Dad will not wear his hearing aid. Any suggestions for a hearing devise he might use?

yankygrl 06-19-2020 11:46 AM

Don’t use Mid Florida Hearing on 441 near Home Depot. 2 person office, the phone system goes down frequently and they “don’t know”, they won’t file for insurance. When you can get appt. for adjustments to equipment Seems like they need to be sent out.

CaVillager 06-20-2020 10:31 PM

Your hearing loss must be service-connected in order to get hearing aids at the VA
