Mailbox number

Is that the same number as the last four in the house's zip code?

thank you!

villagetinker 06-17-2020 05:39 PM

No it is not the same, mail box number are 5 digits

kansasr 06-17-2020 06:43 PM

No. And the box numbers are only to help identify your box. They have no use within the postal system.

just use your street address and use "The Villages" as your town....your zip code may be different but you can check that out with the post office...or go online to the USPO website

That has not been my experience on several levels.

Mail boxes are any number of characters.

Maybe I am missing something, if that were true every house in your zip code would have the same mailbox number.

Might be related to the Village you live in. The mail stations below 466A are 5 digits.

I think the OP was referring to the ZIP+4 number and they are unique.

Some might be, but definitely not all.

In Marsh Bend, at the Cattail mail station mine is only 3 digits.

The Zipcode is always 5 digits; we are 32163. There is a Zip+4 designation that identifies further. Mine is 32163-5441. The +4 was added quite awhile ago to further sort mail for the carriers.

Thankfully, the USPS, UPS, and FedEx know where I live, but Google Maps still thinks I live in a swamp. 😁😉

I am below 466a and our box is 4 digits.

As previously stated, the mail box number is simply a unique identification number assigned to each Village postal center box , so the postal carrier can place a residents mail based upon their street number into and for retrieval by that specific resident. It is not a U.S. Post Office Box Number, and is not associated with your Zip Code. Think of it as a filing system identification for your mail.

On a different slant

From my experience It seems that the highest box is issued to a 5' 2" person and the lowest to 6' 6" person.
Just joking

Or, the standing access rows are given to retired athletes and the lowest rows are given to those with bad backs and knees. :)

Google in the past has been relatively responsive adding missing streets if you provide the info.

Ok.. we all have a 5 + 4 zip code. The first 5 are the town/city you reside in...in TV we have a unique zio code because if the numbers of people. An example of this is the empire state building...it has 23 unique zip codes defining different floors or companies. Now the +4 at the end of your 5 digit zip code is an identifier
Indicateing the "walk sequence" of the carrier. Bringing it to the exact walking pattern of the carrier.
Confusing but true

Yes, I knew about this, and reported the issue last fall.

Google uses a different map database, and will eventually catch up and update things. Older portions of Marsh Bend are included.

Waze, Apple Maps, and OpenStreetMaps do show most of the roads but only some of the addresses. These include Deluna, too.

An anecdote: in February my cousin came to visit, but ignored my warning about using Google. He typed my address into his Waze, and got to my neighborhood using the dirt/gravel road from 301 just south of the Turnpike.

A lot of construction vehicles are now coming in from the north using that route.

bpascani 06-18-2020 09:19 PM

In our neighborhood, when we open our random numbered box, in the back (where the postal officers work) is our actual address, so, no, one has nothing to do with the other
